Re:Intentionally poor headline
Bullshit. Claim it is the users fault and charge $149 to fix a problem that was a manufactures defect. Maybe that was the point but with your head so far up apples ass you could not get it.
$149 was a reasonable compromise, considering that the frequency of the problem did not strongly suggest an issue with Apple's CM's manufacturing process (except that it had to be RoHS, and thus REAL solder could not be used!), and it SURE wasn't a "Design Defect".
And other OEMs have had similar issues; but they don't generally make the news unless fires and explosions are involved, and because they aren't given a catchy, easily-searchable name like "Touch Disease", and so are almost impossible to search-for...
But here's one:

And now, on to the Digitizer:

et cetera.
But as I said, without a catchy name and lots of press-coverage to draw attention of the masses, no one gives a shit.

Re:Try..
You have an original OG Droid and you are still complaining about it now? The phone is ancient and should have been replaced a long time ago. That being said, it is also completely unlocked and one of the easiest phones to upgrade the OS on. Check out Cyanogen Mod or Project Elite for a whole new experience on the phone and repurpose it as a useful WiFi based media device.

Re:Fags and spics
Actually, I just got a Nexus 7 tablet. M$ is done for. Apple should be scared.
I don't think they have any reason to be worried just yet given the shoddy build quality, screen washout/ghosting, stuck pixels and poor support. Maybe one day, but certainly not now.

you're wrong about everything you said

Re:You are a geek. You do not get it.

ROMs are a bigger threat
Just a note is that a large percent of the geek population is trusting ROMs with full root access. Just internet access for some sandbox app is small potatoes. Here's an example of a "good" developer making a simple mistake with their ROM http://www.droidforums.net/forum/liberty-rom-d2/125447-so-who-just-had-their-phone-taken-control-liberty-1-5-a.html Imagine what a malicious developer could accomplish.

Re:Why does the submitter see this as a bad thing?
Or just use something like Easy Root by UnstableApps.com. It roots your phone without needing adb or a computer at all. Of course, it uses an exploit to gain root priv's too
:)Ironically, an app Google pulled from Android Market.

Re:Fuck it.
Yes, and that it works on metro pcs shocked me too.

Re:iPhone
You're lucky. One issue I've had since switching to my Droid is that I can't count on it to work as an alarm clock (seems there's an issue with the sleep-wake interrupt in the current kernel).

Re:Does anyone know if android does OpenVPN?

Happy Verizon customer here. Just picked up a Motorola Droid... very happy with it!
