Re:As long as its usb and laser...
Hold on a minute, you're not supposed to use mouse acceleration in things like FPS games.
Ten out of twelve Quake Live players at ESWC 2010 used accel (link.) So maybe it's useful for some people in some FPS games.

Only real perfomance test was the ESR Mouse Score
There has still never been a better mouse performance review than the ESR Mouse Score.

He later reviewed the original Razer Deathadder and ran it through the same tests here :

But sadly I'm not aware of him doing any later tests, I would really love to see him do an ESR MouseScore 2011

Re:You don't say?
Actually, optical is better than laser. It's just the impact of the word. After playing any FPS with very low sensitivity (over 20" to do a 180 degree turn) you'll notice a huge difference. Laser mice have no tolerance for moving quickly. And chances are you won't be able to spin and avoid that incoming flashbang
;)
Laser vs Optical
In almost every mouse review I've read, the writer makes the automatic assumption that laser mice must be better than optical. I imagine it's down to the perceived firepower of each word. No one ever destroyed an Imperial Cruiser with an LED gun. The performance benchmarks show that todays batch of laser mice can't keep up with the finely tuned optical ones. They do have slightly higher resolution, but not enough to make up for their poor performance at speed. -
From his web page:
Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel started professional gaming in 1999 by entering the CPL (Cyberathlete Professional League) tournament in Dallas and won $4,000 for placing third. Emerging as one of the top players in the United States, he then flew to Sweden where he competed in a tournament against the top 12 players in the world. By winning 18 straight games and losing none he took first place, becoming the number one ranked Quake III player in the world. Two months later he followed that success in Dallas by successfully defending his title as the world's best Quake III player and winning the $40,000 grand prize.
Since then Fatal1ty has traveled the globe to compete against the best in the world, winning prizes and acclaim, including the first DOOM 3 Inaugural Deathmatch Championship at QuakeCon 2004 for a $25,000 grand prize. He presently reigns as the only 3 time CPL Champion of the Year, winning each, annual title in a different game, a feat never before accomplished.
Now, products of the highest quality are being introduced under the Fatal1ty brand. The same dedication that drives Fatal1ty to be the world's best gamer is being translated to offer innovative products intended to enhance the gaming lifestyle and experience. At the same time, Fatal1ty is dedicated to expanding the popularity and opportunities for cyber athletes.

It is possible to view recordings of matches in most FPS games today. Websites like cyberfight.org and esreality.com has quite an archive.
However, most of these replays requires the respective game and any additional mods and maps installed in order to view the replay, in order to save size. I would recommend watching a video compilation. own-age.com is a site with many videos in the most popular games, and this is the link to the top downloaded video. it features mostly highlights in Quake 3. http://own-age.com/vids/video.aspx?id=660
If you arent familiar with Quake3, it will be very hard to spot anything but fancy moves and aim when you're spectating "pro" players, but keep in mind that there is a high level of tactics involved. Pay attention to item timing.
I would recommend watching this video as a starter. It requires Quake3 with newest pointrelease and the mod "OSP". It is played on the custom map ztn3tourney1, so you will have to get that too. It features two swedish top players at ESWC2005.
It is recommended to use "DemoShowCreator" (DSC) or similar to view the replay as it may be tricky doing it manually if you havent done it before. Here are some step by step instructions http://esreality.com/?a=longpost&id=35018&page=3 -

Re:On a more serious note... a question, sorry OT
How to get into the competitive side of Quake3 and UT2K4:
- get the competition mods: OSP for Quake 3, UTComp for Unreal Tournament 2004
- play some public games in the modes enjoy: 1v1, TDM, FFA, CTF... if you haven't played with OSP/UTComp before you've probably only played noobs, so expect to get owned here.
- check the demos of the best players, you'll learn a lot from that.
- find the IRC channels where pickup games are organized, even if they're not as good as clan games they're still much better than your average public game. It's a good starting point, and if you enjoy the pickup games then you can look for a clan and get more into the community.
Some links:

http://www.challenge-tv.com/ - Quake demos
http://www.ggl.com/ - competition in the US
http://www.clanbase.com/ - competition in Europe

This isn't everything of course, there are many more leagues & communities.
About cheating, in all honesty, it is not something you should care about. You shouldn't think about it: in most cases when you think someone is cheating he's probably not, and if he is, well what can you do about it? Stop caring about it, problem solved. -
Articles about CXG
ESReality has a bunch of articles about CXG--not only commenting on how it degenerated into disaster, but also concerning how the tournaments were progressing up until the plug was pulled. Interesting reading, even if you don't know all the big names in the various games who attended the tournaments.

Gaming is not only about CPU and graphics card...While CPU and graphic cards are important, they are not all you need. Keyboards, mice, and joysticks are an IMPORTANT issue here, until of course you are talking tetris.
:)If in doubt, visit sometime one of those gaming forums sites, like EsReallity.com. Discussions of input devices do appear there more then often.
Not to mention the fact that I yet have to see at least one gamer (pro prefferably) which uses LCD (or similar technology) monitor.

Re:Cool logo
I like Ximian's logo and all, but I'm not sure I like the name. The monkey metaphor is just too George W. Bush-ish
