I don't like the increasing trend of releasing with lots of bugs only because it's simple to update after release. I get the impression the more "online" the game is, the worse it is when released
Then I am not the only one. I can't be bothered to actually read the articles linked through/, it's just too boring. What I find interesting are what other people think about it, hence I only read the comments
valid on all points, but I would be more tempted to buy a laptop that had Linux support, even though I would install it regardless

Not nescessearly when they go on sale, but my next laptop will be a Dell for sure. Not because it is distributed with Ubuntu, but because I now can install the distro of my choice and know the hardware is supported
Unfortunately hardware and software is often much cheaper than human labour. Same as with optimizing code: its often cheaper to buy faster hardware than spend developer time
Does anybody know the author? Just take a look at what hard drives he's buying for his private computer and we'll know the answer. If I knew a google HD technician and saw that his home server had 100% of his drives from company Z, then I'd favour those too
Well, try to swim out of your fishbowl and imagine another case: For instance a forum where you tie your account password to your email. How would you know this site wont abuse that info? (You are not meant to answer that, it was purely a question to broaden your view on things)
entering your email at a website in order to download/achieve, and getting spam in your inbox because of it, is not something !IE can help you with. Siteadvisor can. "unsafe" does not nescessearly mean exploit/malware
No offense, really, but this is why you have "ATTENTION! THIS GUN MAY FIRE A BULLET" warning stickers all over the US. And no offense again, but this is an american thing...
This is taken a little out of context, but something that actually happened in an IRC chat channel.
user: how can I fix my PC to be able to play these songs? me: listen, you need to clean your PC from that virus first user: how do I do that? me: go there and bla, then blabla and bla you're done user: what? I just want to listen to my music - user has quit
It would be much more fun if they'd replace the head with the smiley from Ghost in the shell: Stand alone complex. For those of you who havent seen the series; an elusive expert hacker hacks into public cameras, TV cameras and the eyes of people with cybernetic implants and replaces his head with a smiley. Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel started professional gaming in 1999 by entering the CPL (Cyberathlete Professional League) tournament in Dallas and won $4,000 for placing third. Emerging as one of the top players in the United States, he then flew to Sweden where he competed in a tournament against the top 12 players in the world. By winning 18 straight games and losing none he took first place, becoming the number one ranked Quake III player in the world. Two months later he followed that success in Dallas by successfully defending his title as the world's best Quake III player and winning the $40,000 grand prize.
Since then Fatal1ty has traveled the globe to compete against the best in the world, winning prizes and acclaim, including the first DOOM 3 Inaugural Deathmatch Championship at QuakeCon 2004 for a $25,000 grand prize. He presently reigns as the only 3 time CPL Champion of the Year, winning each, annual title in a different game, a feat never before accomplished.
Now, products of the highest quality are being introduced under the Fatal1ty brand. The same dedication that drives Fatal1ty to be the world's best gamer is being translated to offer innovative products intended to enhance the gaming lifestyle and experience. At the same time, Fatal1ty is dedicated to expanding the popularity and opportunities for cyber athletes. -------------
It is possible to view recordings of matches in most FPS games today. Websites like cyberfight.org and esreality.com has quite an archive. However, most of these replays requires the respective game and any additional mods and maps installed in order to view the replay, in order to save size. I would recommend watching a video compilation. own-age.com is a site with many videos in the most popular games, and this is the link to the top downloaded video. it features mostly highlights in Quake 3. http://own-age.com/vids/video.aspx?id=660
If you arent familiar with Quake3, it will be very hard to spot anything but fancy moves and aim when you're spectating "pro" players, but keep in mind that there is a high level of tactics involved. Pay attention to item timing. I would recommend watching this video as a starter. It requires Quake3 with newest pointrelease and the mod "OSP". It is played on the custom map ztn3tourney1, so you will have to get that too. It features two swedish top players at ESWC2005. It is recommended to use "DemoShowCreator" (DSC) or similar to view the replay as it may be tricky doing it manually if you havent done it before. Here are some step by step instructions http://esreality.com/?a=longpost&id=35018&page=3
Others features I'd like to see in Opera would be added functionality to the download manager(perhaps search for mirrors), a drag and drop FTP and SFTP/SCP client.
right after the release of Opera 8.0 and a few hours afterwards, opera.com was down due to excessive bandwidth. eventually they had to strip their web page and provide a link to mirrors. integrating a bittorrent client could be a result from this, or just an innovative way to autoupdate new (major) versions in the future

loaded instantly without any issues in Opera :-)

We won't know the outcome of this for atleast five years, and the code in question will never be relevant. Its hype for the men in suits

I'd rather have my finger chopped off than terrorized for my pin code!
Actually, if your phone or the content in the phone is that valuable, then you deserve your finger chopped off

It was said before this "discovery" that AMD would include this information in its ongoing lawsuit against Intel.0 0-1006_3-6044365.html

How come the article has a picture of the Quake 3 logo? :)
I must admit this list brings back some old memories. http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/contest/c04sprbra cket.html
Are these 'revelations' really news anymore? Microsoft has been trying to prove how much better their OS is for years now.
