Re:Going back in time ...
Heck, just send it in to Exploding Dog. I can't foresee any interpretation which would not range from surreal to hillarious.

Re:xkcd
Duh. Stick figures were invented by Sam Brown.

The difference between PC and Mac users.
People, laptops are machines, they wear out, they have flaws. It's like some people get so emotionally attached to their computer that if they see one flaw with it they have to write an article about it.
Written like a true PC user. You going to go bitch to the explodingdog guy too, or will you just concede the point that tasteless, emotionally deadened ignoramuses like yourself will never understand what makes us Mac users tick? -
Right before moving to college I reached...
the end of the internet. I thought this seeing this website was one of the entry requirements for college and thus the reason for internet 2 to be created in the first place.

Re:I'm amazed...
Amazing comments coming from someone who lists their smurf^W blog in their sig and under their UID.
Blogging is like the word "smurf".
Of *course* blogging is important if you label every fucking thing on the web "a blog".
Why can't we get over all these stupid meta-blogging articles, and realise that it's just fucking "content creation by individuals" and it doesn't need a fucking name.
You seem upset that a simple label has been applied to sites such as those linked above, yet you don't offer any better alternatives. Sorry, "content creation by individuals" is much too long to be useful in most situations. As silly as the term blog is to me, and as silly as I think the media is for "reporting" on blogging, I don't see any reason to get testy about it. It's like ranting about all tissues being referred to as Kleenex, or all MP3 players being called iPods, or even using google as a verb. Silly? Perhaps. But not likely to change now that it's in common use. -
Sounds like a good use for robots...
Sounds like a good use for robots, as long as they don't hire the Red Robot.

Where's that from? Here?

Re:PSP fans?
I meant people that don't suck!

blank, damnit
...though since I almost never close Mozilla, it doesn't really matter. What I really like is having a group of tabs associated with the "Home" bookmark. At the moment, one click opens up:
/., explodingdog, maddox, the LP's homepage, wikipedia, suprnova, where's george?, and google news. These are all the pages I view at least daily, so I like having them at my fingertips. -
Re:Unfortunatley.
That's the only problem I had with the article. It's stuck on Scott "OMG d0tted L1nez!" McCloud's attempts to peg this as a business model for newspaper comics and not anything in and of itself. I mean, outside of Calvin & Hobbes, newspaper comics suck.
If you get away from Scott "Flow Chart" McCloud's sphere of influence, you get stuff that's good and not just Ziggy with tits and crack. Exploding Dog is at least 90% absolute genius, Cat and Girl is doing quite well, Poe's... Poe, and Kung Fool's been getting way better since he quit doing it. There's a lot more of that. -
A perfect example

Frightening
I hoped I wouldn't live to see the day when life imitates explodingdog.
Can the monsters and the red robots be far behind? -
I can see it now...

I'll bite
I find red bull to be a nice balance if stimulation. I remember one day I worked from home (new washer and dryer coming in) and I drank a pot and a half of espresso (not necessarily more caffeine than coffee, mind you) and I was jolted! You know, shakes, that wierd, wire-y Jesus! WE're all on speed! feeling...
while my normal morning routine is a nice cuppa joe and a diet MT dew (same caffeine as reg mt dew)- so even though I have a decent caffeine tolerance (I can drink strong coffee at night and go right to bed) too much coffee gets me jacked.
Red bull is a good mix and gets me just jacked enough to be awake, but not so jacked that I get OCD and the shakes.
I'll keep in mind your carb plan... -
Went and looked at Prof. Starkey's page first.....And as the picture was appearing, for a very brief moment I assumed that the little tin-toy robot he had in his hand was Gaak. Aw, shut up, I'm badly sleep-deprived and currently hard-of-thinking.
Hmm, but does that little tin-toy robot have any connection with a certain other red robot?
And to think, in the article, the Professor had been saying "don't worry, they won't be taking over yet"... I think he's in on it with them! Conspiracy!
God, I really need to sleep now. Careful! Brazil tomorrow!

Re:Why? Is there a point?
Personally I don't care if Campbell's Soup is being sued or has lousy profits, I just want to eat my can of soup and go on with life.
Some people are more careful about what they eat.

Everything JakeWell, here's a plug for one of my favorites. It's developing into a really weird storyline, but I like the drawing style. Read it from the start to appreciate it. Many of the other ones I like (ThinHLine, Sinfest) have already been mentioned. Oh, and I don't know if it qualifies as an online comic, but Exploding Dog is neat. I go for the emotional stuff.
And if you really have too much time, check out The Bench, a comic by the readers. Reading the backlog will take you a few years, though.
Now, to the people who have Paypal accounts, start giving something back. A dollar won't hurt you, but it'll help them.

Two great current comics today:
- Boondocks
Has sort of the same feel as Bloom County (similar but farther-left politics, theme of "kids are far smarter than adults", etc) with some nice growth -- a hint of anime-esque drawing, nods to Calvin & Hobbes, etc. Easily my favorite "mainstream" comic strip now.
- explodingdog
A 'net strip. Wonderfully weird. My favorite -- and one the Slashdot crowd might like -- is new media new arse. I dunno, there's just something great about semi-sad stick figures. Really not like Bloom County at all, but since the thread is about comics I thought it was worth plugging it.

Exploding dog comes to earth!
Hooray for exploding dog! Hooray for NYCART! However, I must lament that it has gone down hill in the past few months. The artist hurt his arm, didn't post for about 2 weeks, and then realized that there was a whole world outside of his computer (read: he got laid).
A few of us could learn from his example...
However most of the early stuff is BRILLIANT... I recommend ALL of the robot series Robot eating hair, the AWESOME Smoking Changed my life and my ALL TIME fav-(Depsite being a non-robot picture) Jesus! We're all on speed!
Also check out Narbotic.com and Dumbrella. -
