RiiiiiiightWe all know what 'issues' the
/. crowd is concerned with...This is just an excuse to run more stories on Georgy Russell. (How long does any discussion of SciFi characters go before it turns to Scully or some tart running after Dr Who in go-go boots and a short skirt?)

Re:May I suggest...
May I suggest, that neither the SETI@Home, nor Chessbrain.net, is the best place where one can find a Mate.
Oh, I don't know; I thought the same thing about Slashdot articles, but stranger things have happened... -
This is off-topic but...
...did anyone else notice the post in his blog about our beloved Georgy getting beat up by Arnold's thugs...
-
Re:Not a Movie but...
In the "Not quite a movie" thread...
I still like this Linux appearance =) -
What about Georgy?
Cool. Maybe they can use Georgy Russell as their new spokesperson. I understand she works for Veritas (according to the page).
-
Jocks 1, Geeks 0
The geek backlash has taken down Georgy Russell: at a Schwarzenegger rally a few day before the election (last week), she was beaten by the steroidal crowd.
-
Re:breaking news!
Georgy was tragically mauled by Arnold supporters after she tapped one of them in the side of the head with her book when they wouldn't move to the other side of the stage on cue.
She reportedly begged the first paramedics to tell animal control officers to put the half-dozen 13-year old boys to sleep as soon as possible, because "they're such fucking dorks, God."
Spokesmen for the Arnold campaign explained that "Arnoold votahs are intehnsely terrytoryal, and if one of their persanal spahces is compramahsed, they'll attack the intruder like abooncha gohdam pyrahhnas! Hooo! Looka the teeth oon thaone!"
Art Bell discounts the Schwarzenegger campaign's explaination, and suspects the boys may be under the control of Libertarian Party satellites launched from their secret clubhouse deep in the woodlands of New Hampshire.
In other news, Yassir Arafat dropped dead. But he's better now.
After the break: Could Matt Drudge look any more like a retarded fisherman in that damn hat of his? Jesus, Matt. They have gay guys now that can help you with that. -

Georgy for Gov
-
How to prove they hacked the system
make Georgy Russell the winner of the election
:-) -
No! No! No!You goddamn commie!
No sir! I'm in California, and come October 7, I'm going to vote for someone who can kick some { commie | French | Al Qaeda | People who don't invest in lobbyists } ass! That means you you { fuckin' | goddamn } { foreign | wimp-ass} piece of shit!
Vote for The Terminator for Governor. Come 2008, he'll be back!Sigh.
Actually, I'd sooner shoot myself. My vote is for Georgy. -
Re:picture
Well, I can't find that one, but the Google cache of the pics page has one picture that's still up:
She's in a red dress .
Thanks, Google! -
A bit on the "progressive" (liberal) side...
Granted, she's got the nerdy young male vote, but when I looked at her stand on issues, I had to do a double take to make sure that she wasn't Cruz Bustamante in drag!
No thanks for me... I want someone who will attempt to cut the ultrafat budget that California has now.

Re:Emacs
Hey! There's a picture missing from her site. Last week when the questions solicitation article was up and I checked Georgy's site there were two or three pictures up. Now there's only one: gallery.
The missing picture was the one where she's in a snug T-shirt, which did not completely cover her lower back, and jeans and looking back at the camera from the computer. Yeah ... you remember it ... the good one. -
About Georgy
About Georgy: http://www.georgyforgov.com/
"Georgy Russell is a Software Engineer who works at VERITAS Software in the Advanced Technology Group. She graduated with honors in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1999."
"As a progressive, Georgy sees fairness as the underlying tenet which should frame decision making in California." -
Re:What crapola
To paint this as some sort of republican vendetta is absolutely idiotic, and if this guy doesn't understand that when he's actually running, then obviously he's too stupid to be governor.
And if you think this is a he, you're obviously too stupid to vote.
-
Re:Emacs
That's because anyone with an answer has probably never had oral sex.
Clearly you don't know what Georgy Russel looks or dressed like.
Somehow, I'm guessing that she doesn't have to suffer from this terrible affliction is she chooses not to.
*ahem*

But point taken, anyway

Georgy is a girl (and a yummy one at that):

Quote from an earlier post:
Not only is she smart, but she's damned cute too! She's got my vote!
RTFA! RTFA! RTFA!
And the award for the nittiest nitpick goes to... -
Anyone else notice...
The banner on her website shows her wearing a tshirt. Look closely at what it says.
Too many subliminal messages here me thinks. -
Re:What crapola
1) Those 890,000 signatures cost Issa $2M of his own fortune to collect. A Poor Republican wouldn't have been able to get them.
2) If a 40% approval rating is all it takes to vote a leader out of office with Repulicans' blessing, maybe we'll be seeing a Pataki recall campaign sometime soon?
3) Georgy is a she. -
Re:Perhaps a better question to ask Georgy...
-
Damn!
Not only is she smart, but she's damned cute too! She's got my vote! Oh, wait, I don't live in California. Damn.

Or You Could Run Yourself!
Like this techie is doing. "a 26-year-old high-tech programmer from Mountain View", who has already won the unofficial endorsement of Washington Post Writer Howard Kurtz, though this seems to be mostly based on her using cafepress to sell endorsed thong underwear as a fundraising tool. Regardless, she is using the net to propel her campaign to an extent that she is garnering press attention even among the strippers and pornographers and actors.
I think the Dean campaign shows that it is media access that makes the biggest difference in getting an unknown launched, and techs are the media of the 21st century.
-
California Techies...
Your state at least one candidate I really like.
Georgina Russell, who is a software consultant, is running for governor in the recall race. I learned this thanks to this BBC article.
A quick google search found her campaign site here, along with a few Linux mailing list posts.
She appears to be one l33t Linux chick. She has even compiled test kernels before... Now I am all hot and bothered ;)
Even though "Ahhhhnold" supposedly has this election already wrapped up, I can appreciate her efforts! -
Re:Do you support the state using open source/linu
One photo shows Georgy working at the computer, with what appears to be a O'Reilly book on "Running Linux or Learning Redhat Linux.
It's on the window sill to the left of her with some kind of life form perching on it. You know, the state is looking to reform their whole IS operation, after the Oracle debacle and the Florez investigations. They discussed doing less contracting, more internal hiring and training like Illinois???. She would make a great splash in Suckramento as a possible State CIO??? -
Re:Puh-leez, she's using windows
From your post we can deduce you are a complete moron in these ways:
1. Just because she has a fancy KB doesn't mean she can touch type.
2. The wedding band is worn on the ring finger of the Left hand. This picture clearly shows that finger to be "marriage free".
3. It's a fucking dolphin, not a penguin.
4. Your penis is too small. (While this has nothing to do with your intelligence, this fact is clealy obvious by the more than 5 points you presented in one post, clearly compensating.) -
The Only Important Questions
Are you prepared to cut 50% of the state workers in California?
Are you prepared to cut taxes so business come back and you wont have to cut more "precious" government jobs in 5 years?
Finally... are you on drugs?
-
my question...
Not only do I like your policies, but you're far and away the most gorgeous politician I've ever seen...
If your career takes off and you end up in the DC area, do you want my number? ;-) -
Puh-leez, she's using windows
Suppose it's her computer on this photo. We can then deduce:
1. she doesn't listen to real music on it - look at those speakers
2. she has an O'Reilly book within reach
3. she knows how to touch-type on a fancy keyboard
4. she uses windows (can anybody say for sure which browser it is
5. whe owns a penguin, but not as a part of her endorsement of Linux, but rather as part of a bigger collection of fluffy animals
6. she doesn't wear pants, but
7. her company's co-founder is her husband, or what is that on her right hand? -
Geek Governor?
-
Re:So...
judging from the number and content of comments posted here so far, I'm guessing that your website has been experiencing a fair amount of traffic. yet response time from page requests is still fairly good.
how would apply the process by which you avoid slow response times to your approach to decisions encountered while administering the state of CA? what problems do you forsee in that application of process? -
georgy has issues?
there's a link on the front page to read more about her "issues"... this is one of the reasons why i stopped dating and got married, i was too tired of listening to chick's issues... why would i want to read about a girl's issues who isn't even going to blow me?

Re:Which distro?
How are we to start a proper flame war without knowing which distro this guy uses?
How are we gonna start a proper flame war without knowing "this guy"'s gender? See exhibit A. -
Will more government really fix health care?In your issues statement, you say:
We need to strive towards a system of universal health care similar to Vermont's. We can't allow millions of children to remain without basic insurance, unable to get the most basic treatments.
Fifty years ago, health care in the United States was relatively unregulated, and we had the best health care in the world bar-none. Medical insurance was cheap and easily available, and the destitute had access to free charity medical care. But thirty years of intensive government meddling has left our health care system in shambles. In this article by Harry Browne, he quotes Dr. Jane Orient as saying:When medical care was mostly paid for by patients, the hospital bill for an appendectomy was the equivalent of 10 days' wages for a common laborer ($149 in 1960). Now it's at least a couple months of take-home pay for a middle-income person (about $3,000). They still do the procedure the same way, and the patient is generally home faster.
Do you really think you can improve health care with more regulation, more bureaucracy, more goverment-institutionalized force? -
Re:are you a hottie?
Yeah, she is quite cute, pics.
-
Why bother legalizing marijuana?
In your issues paper, you say you are for the legalization of marijuana. That's fine, so am I. However, marijuana is already legal in California for medical use, but can still be arrested, prosecuted, and incarcerated under federal law. So, if you were elected governor of California, of what possible relevance is your stand on marijuana?
-
Would you...
Would you pose for Slashdot in your Georgy for Governer thong if it meant more votes? Or is that outside the bounds of "clean elections"?
-
Re:the most important question
I think in her case (as with CmdrTaco) pants are optional. Rowr!
-
So...As a geek superhottie, campaigning for the govenorship of California, will you take full advantage of the legions of Slashdotters ready to throw themselves in front of Arnold's limo, screaming, "My life for you!!". Please?
How do you think your involvement in technology can translate to leading California, and indirectly, the rest of the country? I see here that you have filed for several patents. How do you feel about companies such as PanIP using patents as a basis for lawsuits rather than innovation? Will you make intellectual 'property' a campaign issue?
