Re:German www.sco.de page is empty ...

Maybe they got slightly hacked? Working from Google's cache of the main page, none of the local tributary pages exist at all. The images still do, though.

Re:Is this dangerous?
Sorry, but tunneling is a purely quantum phenomenon and we currently have no solid theory about quantum gravity. The blackhole "leaks" radiation from its event horizon due to pair creation. Here Have Fun!

Possibly the opposite is true.
I don't think the end of open content is coming, in fact I think that it future is just beginning. Why pay for access to an encyclopaedia when you can get if free? Why pay for books when you can get them for nothing? Why pay for news when you can get it for free? (ok Slashdot isn't the best example)
Ok, so there are problems with both of these sites, the Wikipedia isn't peer reviewed and Project Gutenberg can only use books that are out of copyright (and that varies by country). But, even so, they both remain free.
So, I predict that as large companies try harder to be the only people who can provide information more projects like this will spring up. And when information is provided by only a very few companies/individuals then projects run by large groups of volunteers will become even more important.
We even have tools such as Google news that can gather information from multiple sources at once. -

can you provide more info on the secret-UN-communism thing..?
Ah, so I'm trustworthy now that I'm not a Yankee? (-: I could be a closet American sympathiser, y'know

Try doing something like this and blipping over the obvious whackos (on both sides of the question). In fact, sometimes the whackoes have interesting things to say too, you just need to a bit of prodding around elsewhere with anything like that to see whether they're in fantasy land or not.
WHO or "world health organisation" also turns up a lot of interesting stuff (and its share of whackos as well, sigh).

Left/Right Bullshit
Mac mice have never had an issue with left/right-handedness. (Also note that many creative types are right-brained, thus left-handed. This is important to some.)
Bullshit!
While my reference here seems like a dodgy geocities site, his references are pretty good and you can also do a more extensive search.
The left-right brain thing is on a par with the also incorrect but popular theory of taste sensitivity areas on the tongue. Check this and this for a debunk of that one too.
Sorry for ranting, but it's too early to read this tripe!

hmm...Well there is a google cache for the site but its not much (just a few ads for tabaco)
What are the chances of building a space lift being allowed. People have trouble building tall buildings in some places due to the shadow, won't this cable have some issues like the fact that it would cast a shadow over the entire planet, also what if somthing goes wrong and the cable breaks, ever read the book series (red, gree, blue) mars where the cable came crashing down on mars? hmm i guess they could get around this by building it in a country thats willing (any country woth out fussy laws that want money).
Still it would be cool =)

Re:CO2 sinks
"The fact is Kyoto is designed to allow Europe an economic edge over the United States and provide an opportunity to paint Americans as greedy monsters."
Well that certainly shows where your comments really stem from. :) And I thought Anti-American's can be paranoid.
Kyoto is about setting global standards for the developed world, that's us the filthy rich ones! It's about tiny steps, this being the first one ideally to be followed by more significant ones in the future.
The worst thing about the anti-Kyoto crowd is their frequent use of bad economic evidence, in particular the argument that it will throw the economy into a recession! This is baseless scare-mongering, most recent evidence shows exactly the opposite! -
Re:wtf
Extreme Programming, from what I've seen, is a development process theory that fits in well to where "crap development" (tm) occurs. i.e. it is a cycle that allows for quick deployment while doing things properly at the same time. Google knows (google in austalia is a cool thing btw!).

Don't accept it all...
...as with most things, but he is a hoot to read and makes a great deal more sense than mainstream prognosticators. If you want a wilder read, try Karl Bunday, and if you want more content-focussed stuff, try John Holt.

Re:Correct me if I'm wrong
Different states of CO2 have been discussed , one I believe is to sink liquid CO2 to such depths that keeping it pressurized is far less energy expensive than at the surface. This from google cache, (original from DOE reports 404: lotus notes document deleted!) Large Scale C02 Transportation and Deep Ocean Sequestration The title seems to indicate STORING ~= sequestration , as opposed to dispersing CO2 into the ocean.

Re:Maybe I'm stupid enough...
But Google doesn't claim PageRank to be an expression of their opinion. PageRank is a hard-to-bias formula that, in their opinion, is the best way to sort web pages.
You're saying that PageRank itself isn't an expression of opinion, but that it is an aid to expressing an opinion. Of course they're making human decisions about what's good or bad - that's the function of their algorithm. That's why they modified it. As the lawmeme article says, there's no way to 'objectively' determine where SearchKing should be - 8, 4, 2. All any search engine can be is an expression of opinion. "We reckon that if you're searching for a water lily then this is the 'best' site for you.

Wideband delphi ...
... is worth looking at. We've used it successfully on multiple projects.

The simple fact is, I cannot estimate for you. I can only estimate for me.
Of course, you would need to get a group together to use it. You may be able to use some of the basic principles however.
