    Intel has been talking about 10nm for at least 3 years. They "pretended" to show off a 10nm chip recently, but all indications point to maybe 2018... the launch of 10nm has been delayed at least three times (official announcements).

    Feb 23, 2015 - The first chips based on Intel's new 10nm process are expected in late 2016/early ... to avoid the delays that haunted the belabored release of 14nm Broadwell.

You can see that the tents were located just past the Smithsonian Castle, which is more like 2/3 of the way to the Washington Monument. https://www.google.com/maps/@3... You can also see in CNN's gigapixel http://www.cnn.com/interactive... that the section between the tents and the first row of green barriers is almost empty, and the section after that has very few people standing on the north side, matching very closely with photographs taken from behind. I'm not arguing numbers, but in this case at least, the evidence seems to match statements published elsewhere.

    WD has been buying up SSD companies - mostly small ones in the enterprise market. My brother-in-law (international trade lawyer) interviewed with one of these small SSD companies, rejected their offer, then got a job at WD. A year later, WD bought that SSD company and he got put in charge of prepping them for International sales.

    Nobody with truly important data trusts any drives with anything important. Local and cloud storage have gotten so cheap it's trivial to have multiple backups and RAID redundancy. If I could have a nickel for every person who comes to me begging to help them recover data off a drive which stopped working... Often they're faced with paying a recovery service $500+, all because they were too cheap to spend $80 on an external backup drive, or $20 for a USB flash drive (need to refresh these every few years for maximum safety) or some blank DVDs.

    If you have a Gmail account, Google already gives you free unlimited cloud storage of all your photos up to 16 MP. They also let you store videos for free, although I haven't been able to find what the limits are (used to be 15 minutes max per video, but I believe the new limit is just 1080p). If you have Amazon Prime, it also includes unlimited storage of any size photos. And if you subscribe to Office 365, it includes 1 TB of cloud storage. Please, take advantage of these to back up the irreplaceable photos and videos of your wedding, your child's birth, your child's first steps, etc. It's disheartening having to tell people they will have to choose between recovering these precious memories and a half month's rent.

Maybe I've missed something, but nobody seems to be talking about the actual implementation.

    Basically, both Microsoft and Apple got hit by a patent troll, hard. It sounds like random gibberish of somebody vaguely trying to implement p2p relaying similiar to Tor (and from the looks of it, naively broken and not-anonymous too). With a lot of odd features on top of it which do not make much sense from engineering perspective as well. Possibly put in there just to make the patent as broad as possible. It's basically impossible to explain how this is related to any p2p system, much less facetime, what is clear that the patent is some sort of p2p (among dozens of other things).

    That's not even true for machine learning practitioners. Google can teach you Tensorflow in three hours. I'd even wager it's just not true. 18 months is a long time if you only study one thing. Most college programs load up on unrelated garbage. I had to complete archery and Buddhism classes to get a STEM degree. That's just silly.
