Best evidence for water
To me, the best evidence for water is this map, which they always show at NASA presentations on Mars. It's a topographic map colored by altitude, and you see that the areas below a certain depth are almost completely crater-free, contrasted strongly with the areas above that depth. This, to me, is a really, really strong argument that it was once covered in water and had a coastline.
Looking at that map always makes an Earth-like Mars seem much more real to me. -
Re:Another article by Bev Harris:
Just a note that I'm hoping to see the BlackBoxVoting donation forms available soon - this is essential work that the
/. community should actively support.
Also, extra thanks to Bev for her recent efforts to post notifications and address issues on this site; because of this I'll be purchasing a copy of her book. The publisher's iconogrpahy is unfortunate for promotion purposes, but ultimately irrelevant to the books' content. -

Free RadioI have to provide a link to my local Free Radio Station. I never listen (they don't play anything to my taste) but I support them on general principle.
Interference was always a straw man. Media monopolies like Clear Channel (yikes! how unintentionally appropriate!) just want to maximize the spectrum available for their musical monoculture.
What I really miss is all those low-power campus and community stations. Yeah, they mostly played crap, but it was local crap. And it was a good way for budding young radio DJs and journalists to break into the field. I've always found it strange that NPR is on the "stop interference!" bandwagon, since all their best people come from the low-power community.

Your stats are wrong! 15% death rate from Sars.
Sometimes this goes as high as 20% in places like Hong Kong, in Canada its around 15%, the 5% are fake government figures.
SARS mortality rate/Death Rate
why dont you read what some actual doctors are saying. Also take into account that SARS is mutating constantly, which means its becoming more deadly everyday, the death rate is rising due to this mutation, as the virus gets smarter it learns how to more efficiently destroy our immune system.
Do your research begore you come up with some numbers. -

Re:So let me look at this list from my perspective
Go visit GotDotNet sometime if you haven't already been there. It's the grassroots community website that Microsoft put up to support
.NET just in case there wasn't any grassroots community who actually wanted to do it.And I DID Go visit GotDotNet sometime. And I saw something there.... but... BUT... BUT... BUT: Got.net, "got dot net", and associated terms and devices are (c) Copyright 1995-2002 The Internet Connection Inc, a California corporation .
You CAN'T be talking about ASP/.NET/Microsoft, can you?

Buying the books
As a proud owner of the first book I can say it is quite nice to be able to take BOFH with you anywhere you go (aside from the ones on your PDA). The books, both I and II can be purchased from Plan 9 Publishing from THISpage. Enjoy your reading, and remember only use one excuse card a day! (don't want to run out before the end of the year)

There isn't such thing as a good keyboard
I have studied the problem specially (for desktop though) and I see no good method of text input at all.
Firstly, forget about direct neural interface and speech input. The neural interface is terribly slow, the speech input cannot deal with programming language texts.
Then, forget about a stylus and touchscreen. Stylus is simply too slow, touchscreen will cover your screen with grease from your hands.
There is a nice product that looks promising - Alphagrip - but AFAIK it's still not in production, and I fear it has a lot of other problems, for instance, I cannot imagine how it can be used as a game device as claimed by inventors, or how the index finger can press UP.
Datahand looks the best and is ergonomic enough but is simply too big to fit in a laptop.Twiddler IMHO requires too non-ergonomic fingers movement severely limiting the input speed.
The following methods look promising:
Keybowl that can be emulated with a pair of analog joysticks taken from Sony PS Doubleshock joysticks,
Wlonk - a 10-key macroprogrammable chording keyboard (You should design the mouse, driver and formfactor yourself),
and variations of TheBAT, DataEgg, 7KEY a.s.o (7-key 1-hand chording keyboard. Are you going to study the chords?)
