The supposed reasoning behind the liquids ban was very simple - some folks found a receipe for bomb making using a binary liquid explosive. One component is hydrogen peroxide, I do know. Not sure what the other one is that was actually learned before any of this could be put into action, but the threat was real.

It turned out that while it was possible in theory it was totally impossible in practice, so banning random liquids is like preventing me from bringing a large laptop on board because it could, in theory, transform into something like the Manhacks from HL2 when I press the right combination of buttons.

There is a mod for Half-Life 2 where you use the Wii-Remote to control your character. I've never actually played the thing, so I can't speak for how well it works, but I understand that he uses motion controls to throw grenades and swing the crowbar.

Well, I had much more fun with Minerva and Antlion Troopers, but I would agree those are not so much mods as sophisticated maps and scripting.

After all, Alyx Vance has a "cheat code" that unlocks full frontal nudity, nipples, and labia. No penises or pubic hair, but the labia are animated realistically -- or, getting there...

Oh wait, you need this patch. The official download page appears to be gone, but the file is still there, somewhere...

I would actually pay to see this lawsuit in particular. "Ok, watch what happens when I remove her pants. Guess what? See-through panties! In fact, see-through hips, see-through thighs, see-through legs... Is it still nudity if everything's transparent? Or completely absent?"

You have to have a Source developer licence, they probably check your registered email address.

The email address does appear to be optional, though - and I didn't get any confirmation email when I signed up.

I've yet to see any vandalism, and it's been public for quite a few days already - but hopefully its mention on Slashdot doesn't change anything... ;-)

It's definitely not the first HL2 Wiki - the HL2World.com Knowledge Base has been around for ages, but really hasn't got that much in the way of useful content. Most of the entity documentation seems to have been nicked from the HL2 FGD entity definitions, for instance, and nobody's added too much to it.

However, this new Valve-sponsored one seems to have got past that problem. There's a lot of Valve-authored content in there already, and the enthusiast-written stuff seems very promising. I learned more about the ai_goal_assault entity from this article than I've done from everywhere else combined, for example.

The site's semi-affiliated with the good old VERC Collective and that's always been very strictly (and fairly) moderated with a good signal-to-noise ratio, so good things may lie ahead...

Before, it was just the blueprints that got released. Now the whole house with wallpapers and furnishings as well was released.

I did a exe size comparison and guess what? They match the sizes you get from compiling from the source.
