Re:Sigh...
Can you please tell me about a place that U.S has annexed a part of other country into it self?
If you cannot, then you are misguided in your effort to justify the invasion and occupation of Crimea. I also want to remind you that what Russia has done is against U.N charter.
What Putin is simple. He is a brutal dictator, what he has not yet done is to show it. The propaganda from Russia is massive, the world channel for that propaganda is RT network. It pumps out misinformation, lies and just pure KGB style propaganda all days and not only in English but also in several other languages. Other good example of this is ITAR-TASS. Here is the latest news. I don't have to tell you that this is total bullshit "news".
http://en.itar-tass.com/russia...
People in Russia have in general no idea what is going on. Internet coverage is not that good as in Europe or U.S. They also have to deal with censored internet today inside Russia. Washington Post sums this up nicely.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/...
There is a lot of people in Europe and U.S that accept Russia propaganda as the truth. There is just one problem with it, it's all lies and deception.

Re:meanwhile overnight...
Read these links in order, paying close attention to the dates of each article (use Google/Bing/Yandex Translate if you don't know Russian, it's good enough to understand the meaning). They pretty much answer all the questions: who did it, what they did it with etc. Note that ITAR TASS is the Russian official state media, so while it is obviously propaganda, in this case it only gives credence to the claims, since the result is strikingly not in their favor:

Re:Ah.
Separatists themselves have boasted of acquiring SA-11 Gadfly aka "Buk" three weeks ago:
http://itar-tass.com/mezhdunar...
And just three days ago, separatists have said that they shot down An-26, which was flying above 6km, and specifically noted that they did it with "Buk":
http://www.vz.ru/news/2014/7/1...
(That one was a real An-26 - Ukrainian side confirmed the loss.)
Occam's Razor would lead to one obvious conclusion here. Although today's TASS report is very funny, given that they were the ones reporting on the capture of "Buk" before!

Re:Possible factor
More likely the separatists were trigger happy and they had a handy missile.
Like the Buk SAM system Russian state media reported they have?
-
Re:Wait for it...According to Russian state media,
DONETSK, June 29,
/ITAR-TASS/. Self-defence forces of the Donetsk People's Republic have taken control over a missile defence army unit equipped with Buk missile defence systems, the press service of the Donetsk People's Republic told Itar-Tass on Sunday. So, they apparently did have "that kind of hardware." Of course, today they're claiming they don't.
-
Re:Wait for it...
ITAR-TASS (Russian state owned) reported eyewitness claims that "Militiamen of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) brought down a military transport Antonov-26 (An-26) plane of the Ukrainian Air Force on the outskirts of the town of Torez..."
Given that the geographic area is predominantly occupied by separatists ("eyewitnesses"), and the speed with which the report got to Russia, that report may be a "smoking gun," almost literally. -
Re:Yawn
NATO expanding means NATO troops/infrastructure there. You're thinking just the obvious, but that's what CNN/BBC writers like glossing over, yadda yadda yadda.
According to a Russian news agency, this is not happening either: "NATO has no plans to deploy troops on the territory of Ukraine". This was one of the first links that came up when I Googled for "nato troops ukraine".

Re: I dont get it
Fun thing about this "123% turnover" reports - it was calculated from the initial ITAR-TASS report that had a typo in the numbers (1724563 votes vs 1524563). Later report had the correct number and both had same turnover percentage number quoted (82,71%) hinting at a typo, but it's not as fun reporting corrections as it's reporting "corruption", innit?
PS: And _of course_ every single one of tatars and ukrainians boycotted it.

Re:This is a propaganda war first of all
The US has a Constitution that expressly forbids such laws, and that's great. However the fact that it was the VERY FIRST proposed law is a great example of the true colors of the post-revolution government. They can talk all they want about how they are not nazis, but their actions show that they really are.
And if you think that these two examples are exceptions - there is a lot of other such instances. Here's the captured Kiev Administration building: http://vesti.ua/storage/asset/... This portrait hung there only for about a day, a much larger portrait appeared inside the building in about a week (and I think it's still there, I'll go and check tomorrow). If you're wondering, that neurotic individual on the banner is Stephan Bandera ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S... ).
You want something official? Not a problem - here's the envoy of Ukraine in the UN saying that Bandera was a hero ( http://en.itar-tass.com/world/... ).
As for Mexicans in the US - they have a right for self-determination and Spanish should probably be an official language in at least several states. -
more complete comments from Alexei Krasnov
Alexei Krasnov, chief of piloted programs:
"The malfunction was found in the service elements of the descent capsule....but no decision was taken to delay a forthcoming launch.
Krasnov acknowledged that several days ago some problems really emerged....but the problems are related to a service element, rather than the descent capsule,
Krasnov did not rule out that “the schedule of piloted missions will be revised,” but he sees no tragedy in this. “There are program reserves to deal with the emerged problem,” he underlined.
“It is very good that upon the results of the tests we received critical remarks before the spaceship was brought to the Baikonur spaceport, because we have some time and possibilities to examine everything in detail,” Krasnov concluded.

AP missed something TASS didn't
According to TASS,
According to official sources, the Russian Defence Ministry plans to buy the aircraft beginning 2015. Until the time, Su-35s of the "four++" generation will be in service. Contracts are signed to supply 48 Su-35 planes to the Air Force.
That is, Russia has at least made an effort to keep up with the USA with "four++" generation aircraft, which according to the above are still ordered even with only four years to go until new stuff comes out. This "fifth" generation aircraft is probably just a formalization of what they already have.

What Proton-M launch?
There wasn't a known Proton-M launch this week. There was one on November 25, 2009. The article cited by the "anonymous poster" is from a 2006 launch.
Proton-M rockets are huge, and are launched from Baikonur in Kazakhstan. When one of those things is launched, it gets noticed.
Somebody local may have launched something, but it probably wasn't launched 1000 km away from Kazakhstan. There are pictures from multiple locations, and many show ground details. So get those pictures geo-located and aligned, and figure out where it came from.

you have it backwards
no one in iran knows the truth, because there is no free press
everyone outside iran knows the truth, because there is free access to a free press
and what in your mind makes you think that the us govt can control the world media?
well, let's go with your paranoia, and make believe for the moment the us govt really can control the media. not even just american outlets, but even the likes of news.com.au and news.bbc.co.uk: any western media outlet. this is some extreme paranoia to believe that, but let's go with your bizarre pov for a moment
well then, what's preventing me from going to:
http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/
is your assertion the us govt can control these news sources?
but my whole point is right there in those links: the fact that i can even click on those news sources if i choose to, and no one is going to knock on my door for doing that, and no one is blocking my access to official russian or chinese news sources, and i feel no fear in clicking those links, then what the hell does that leave your assertion about who is controlling "the media" or your right to free access to news sources in the usa?
why the heck do you have the whole notion of a free press and its implications completely ass backwards in your mind?

better articleThe linked article in the summary doesn't have much more info, but here's a good one.
They say it can theoretically cover all of Russia because only 13 of the 18 are operational. Here's an interesting quote from the article: "The main point is to avoid the 1997 situation, when 24 sputniks were on the orbit, but only the military were making use of the system. However, it is now feared that a similar situation is apt to re-occur, since there are some problems with the development of navigation equipment for the consumers at large, although the constructor-general is trying to cope with them" -
Over-voltage causes computer failure at ISS Russia
MOSCOW, June 15 (Itar-Tass) -- A fivefold over-voltage resultant from the unfolding of extra U.S. solar batteries caused a computer failure at the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS), a source at the Energia Aerospace Corporation told Itar-Tass on Friday.
"The power units of six computers of the Russian segment had a breakdown because of the over-voltage. The American partners unfolded new solar batteries on June 11," the source said.
The German-made computers withstood the 2.5-time over-voltage last September, when the first segments of solar batteries were unfolded. The June 11 over-voltage hit the computers hard, he said.
While experts are trying to reanimate the computers, new power units will be delivered to the ISS onboard a Progress freighter, Energia General Director Nikolai Sevastyanov told a Friday press conference. He said the new power units would be better protected.
The Progress will be launched two weeks earlier than planned because of the ISS situation. Initially, the launch was scheduled for August 6. The U.S. segment of the ISS will provide for the station's orientation in the meantime, and engines of the docked Progress will be used if necessary.
The ISS crew evacuation is not on the agenda, although a relevant plan has been drafted. Some of the computers of the Russian segment are still operational.

Re:Reading the article......
The text of Putin's statement was published in English by official russian press agency
He said:
" Death is always tragic. I present my condolences to the friends and the family of Mr. Litvinenko. As far as I know, the postmortem report does not say it was a violent death. If that is so, there is no reason for such suggestions , he told a Friday press conference after the Russia-EU summit ...."
If the note was really written before the death of Mr. Litvinenko, I wonder why they did not make it public while he was still alive, Putin said. If the note appeared after the death, what comments can be made? People who did that are not the Lord, while Mr. Litvinenko is not Lazarus. It is a pity that such tragic events as death are being used for political provocative acts, he said.

" effects indistinguishable from cancer "
That I doubt. The effects of Polonium on human organs are well known
" From 1945 through 1947 Manhattan Project researchers injected .... five human subjects with polonium .."
It could have escaped the attention of an average coroner, but it is not a good 'undetectable poison'
The physical half-life of d 210Po is 138.38 days
getting it is hard and it's choice points to state sponsored terrorism

Similar to the Anthrax Attacks, only thing we know for sure is that there is a group, or groups
with access to controlled substances, able and willing to kill
and that public reaction to their crimes are used to point fingers.
If that is the motive, or only motive, we do not know -
Russians are also way ahead of us...
The Russians say they can get to Mars by 2014. They also have a suborbital space plane in the works. I think the Russians actually like being underestimated, in fact I wouldn't be suprised if it's an intentional part of their strategy.
