Re:*Not to scale
I highly doubt it was a casting from the original. A few different Hollywood replicate companies put out prop replicas. A local hobby shop carried one back in the day with (I think) a $400 sticker on it. A friend on mine eventually picked it up, added LED blinkenlights, and turned it into a coffee table.

Re:That green light..
Perhaps you didn't notice the mini fusion device mounted on the top of the case?

Re:License plate bar codes
or even earlier than that

Re:PrivatizeSo, what we need is for the scientists to come up with mini nuclear reactors people can keep in their back yards.
I say we skip that intermediate step, and just go straight to Mr. Fusion

Sweet
If these have LEDs now, I'm sure the next 11 years will give researchers plenty of time to add power laces and a voice chip that sounds like Stephen Hawking's.

The original poster wrote:

Shimmer replied:
"Beautiful. Only on Slashdot could a comment about Back to the Future in a discussion about fusion be labeled "informative"."
Either you're being literal and feel that it's been mislabeled or you don't get the joke.
If you're being literal, you're wrong. The voting on the post you reference is 70% Funny, 30% Overrated. Nobody labeled it "Informative" at all.
If you're simply missing the joke, well, then you're missing the joke.
My guess is the former. -
Two tanks ?
Does it mean that, in order to reach the maximal level of geekness, I will have to get an extra tank, full of liquid nitrogen for my overclocked car ?
Cool. So my next car will have these 2 tanks, be overclocked, play mp3's / have a GPS system, and look cool. Now all I need is a Mr. Fusion unit. But it's still 2004 and I hadn't invented it yet. -
Back to the Future 2
Nike's with Power Laces?
Jackets that will automatically adjust to your body and dry themselves off when they get wet?
And now an iPod intergrated into it.
Wonder what's next? 'Under'wearable computing? -

Re:Falcon
OK, if you think this guy went all out, visit www.ketzer.com which is linked to at the bottom of the page. He made a model of just the exterior of Millenium Falcom out of thousands of individually cut polystyrene pieces and plastic pieces from model kits. He actually got the name of the manufacturer for the model kits that the ILM guys had borrowed parts from for their models. The then got the manufacturer's catalog and tried to match the parts in the catalog with details found in photos of ILM's model.
If that is not scary.. then what is.
