Re:Difficult to sympathize
Check out a sermon on Qatar TV. The US Government will, if requested, allow you to hold two separate US passports so that you can visit relatives in Israel with one, and go to some of the middle-eastern nations with the other. I think a number of middle-eastern nations will ban you if your passport shows any entry to Israel. Also, a number of middle-eastern nations deny visas to Jews, and you can neither enter the country nor board an aircraft on the way there without the visa.

Re:Asking you to break the law?
Well..if the US government (stuxnet for example) can do it (with no declaration of war), then it mustn't be illegal right?
/ironyoffIf Iran can do it without a declaration of war, then it mustn't be illegal, right? (After all, what is a string of assassinations and a little planning for genocide among friends? No doubt the Iranians are envious because they didn't think of it first.)
At least they have a clear vision for the future, one that seems remarkably free of Jews in the Middle East.

Re:alternatively
oh - you mean the killing of people like this?
From Hamas TV (funded by the US government):
"Praise be to you, our Lord. You have made our killing of the Jews an act of worship, through which we come closer to you.

Re:Whose enemies?
No nation that has used nuclear weapons on a civilian populous in full knowledge of the effects, twice, should be allow nuclear weapons. Now hand em over. Iran probably has more right by this measure to have an enrichment program, but then their not the good guys.
Ah, so your preference is for millions of Japanese to have starved and hundreds of thousands of Americans be killed and wounded instead? Aren't you the humanitarian.
I guess it fits since you are apparently think the current Iranian government is fit to have nuclear weapons. What's a little genocide among friends? Maybe you should check out Memri to see how they think.

Re:anti-revolutionary...
The Iranians continue in their attempts to spread their revolution to other countries. They were/are assisting insurgents in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other places. They control the powerful state within a state that is Hezbollah in Lebanon. I believe they are also working in Central and South America. Their presence in so many other places is useful in more ways than one.
I think you will find this video revealing....there are plenty more at MEMRI worth seeing.

Suggesting it "failed" suggests that there is only one possible outcome, and it's the one you want. And that's not diplomacy.
Suggesting it "failed" means there is an outcome agreed upon by many nations as being unacceptable that at this point still seems almost inevitable. It is the outcome that they want to avoid, and have offered many alternatives and incentives to avoid. It is still diplomacy until shooting starts - thats how you tell the difference.

Arab beliefs
Much of the reason the Middle East is such a mess, is that the Arabs seriously believe this shit.
Thanks to their corrupt, despotic leaders, they are convinced that every problem in their life, is the fault of Israel or America.
Yasser Arafat is worth three billion but you've got no water? The Jews.
Your leaders have helicopters and mansions, but you are illiterate and poor? The Jews.
Hey, how would you like us to give your family a nice new house, and $25,000 courtesy of Iran? All you need to do is put on this backpack, walk over there and press this button. Oh, and if you don't, we'll kill you anyway.
And if you think I'm exaggerating, have a look at some authentic clips from Arab Television, for example the claim by a Hamas leader that Pepsi is a secret Jewish plot... Yes, they actually believe this shit.

Re:I can't believe you people still defend Iran
Just take a look at the kind of things coming out of their government-controlled media: http://memritv.org/
If you get your view of the Muslim world from MEMRI, you are looking at the situation with blinders on.
Not to mention that they are also total scumbags with a history of bullying their critics. -
I can't believe you people still defend IranI doubt it. If anything, we would want Iran to have 100% free and uncensored access for all citizens. How Utopian... and unrealistic. Iran routinely censors their population: http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/news/archives/2005/09/14/iranian_censorship.html
Unfortunately the same can't be said about their military and Islamist government that profits greatly from that wonderful connection.
I can't believe that people are *still* protecting the Iranian government (note I'm not talking about their citizens) after all the crap they've pulled during the last two decades. Just because the US media has tuned into Iran in the last five years doesn't mean this story came out of the blue. Iran has been funding and training terrorist groups and publicly boasting about it for over 20 years now. We've been waiting for their population to overthrow the Islamist government for years yet that hasn't happened either. Just take a look at the kind of things coming out of their government-controlled media: http://memritv.org/
Yes, most Iranians dislike their government but no this won't be happening anytime soon. In the meantime, thousands upon thousands of people die every year because of direct funding by the Iranians to terrorists. Ironically most of the victims are Muslim.
If you want to avoid war with Iran then you should be in favor of diplomatic action to prevent them from obtaining nuclear weapons which could be a pretext for such a war. By preventing economic sanctions from going through you leave the world no choice but turn to the military option. Also it is worth noting that we've held toothless diplomatic talk with Iran for decades now and that didn't work (if anything, their government got more radical). They need to feel the heat for there to be any change. -
Re:not really censored
Funny you should bring up UN Resolutions. Let's look at the first UN Resolution concerning the Middle East. It states that the State of Israel has the right to exist. This is the FIRST ONE, and has been rejected by ALL neighbouring Arab countries.
When they'll accept this one, we'll move on to the others.
Funny too you should talk about the Geneva Convention. I'm imagining people like you weren't screaming about Geneva Conventions last summer, when Hezbollah terrorists violated many Geneva laws of humanity, including attacking a country without any reason or warning, abducting foreign soldiers (which are still captive, by the way) and shooting missiles from densely populated living flats just to make sure civilian casualties (for which they beg) will reach the world news. Perhaps this has indeed been one of the censored issues of the year. Instead of talking about 'disproportianism', when Israel is attacking the terrorists (who happen to hide among an innocent population), why wasn't the world screaming about those who deliberately targeted civilians?
Plus, you haven't addressed my major issue. Israel doesn't want to live separately, Israel doesn't want a security fence. Israel, after more than forty years of terror, it is desperately trying to find a solution to this ongoing problem, in which its citizens are threatened daily.
It's strange. It's seemingly always the Palestinians who want peace and not the israelis. Well, I can name you hundreds of Israeli peace organization. Name me one Palestinian...
There are none. A few months ago, a group of Egyptian diplomats got together to try and find peaceful resolutions with Israel. A week later, they were all imprisoned. As a reminder, Israel has signed a peace treaty with Egypt.
You call me a racist towards the Palestinian people. You say that I value Jewish blood over Arab blood. Well, let me tell you I never did, but today I do.
Today, I see a civilization of people which are far from civilized. I see a people which does not care about human life anymore, let alone their own. I see mothers strapping TNT-bars around their little sons and daughters. I see fathers teaching their kids to hate and take them to fight at their youngest ages. I see hundreds of Middle Eastern television and radio channels promoting nothing but hate against Israel, America and Jews in general. The first words of many Palestinian children are 'Itbach al-yahud' or 'kill the jew'.
See Memri.
When I see this, a people that rejects its own right to live, I cannot help but see their blood as less. I feel so sad for all these innocent Palestinian children which are abused by their parents, their teachers and their society. I think the answer to peace is there, in their education, and not primarily with the security fence.
The security fence, whether you like it or not, has proven secure and has massively decreased terrorist attacks. Now, the fence may have harmed many Palestinians socially and it may be harder for them as they have to pass many checkpoints, but they aren't threatened to die because of that. On the other side, every day the security fance stands there, it prevents terrorists from passing to an Israeli town and blowing up families.
The only life-threatening threat Palestinians face is to be killed in a firefight in which they either didn't belong, or that was caused by internal rivalries between Fatah and Hamas. Again, for that the solution has to be found within them.
Another thing that has almost not reached the news. the Israeli town of Sderot has been the target of thousands of Kassam rockets the last five weeks and has caused tens of deaths and hundreds of injured. This, too, has not been seen of too much on the news. -
Some more of your lies, racistI took the time to point out where you lie in some more paragraphs. I didn't have the energy to read them all -- you lie continuously about what I've written and attack that.
You claim that Palestinians have killed Israelis. Sure they have. I don't deny that. But you refuse to accept the reason why this is happening. You refuse to admit reality, and without this, there really is no forum for discussion.
You do a straw man attack on what I have written -- that means you lie a description of my position and then attack what you described. I have not discussed the Israel-Palestina conflict at all (as I wrote here).
I have just pointed out where you make statements you can't defend and then lie when denying them. Here you lie so that people browsing won't find e.g. when you used racist slurs like "You stupid fucking retarded Jew!", racist asshole.
It is heartening, however, to read that just recently, a group of Jewish scholars in the UK released a statement calling on Jews to allow other, non-fundamentalist views to be expressed in their community
... in particular, to allow for critical analysis of Israeli policy towards the Palestinians and othersAre you lying here or just totally uneducated about the peace movement (see also this) in Israel and all the very varied political standpoints? Please note what a demonstration of 400,000 means in a country with that low population... You are probably lying since I pointed out this before.
If I remember correctly, you responded by claiming that Israel was the model of democracy and peace. That's hardly a well thought through response. [...]
I pointed out that Israel is a working democracy and that you lied when you claimed that Arab citizens (20% of the population) didn't have votes... That was not the full argument I gave -- you do another straw man here. I used that as argument here.
You didn't show anything. You lied, claiming that the event didn't happen as it did. See my above comments re: Holocaust deniers.
As I commented in the other message, you lie here. I gave a reference here -- and you gave none. I think your position is normal Arab antisemitic propaganda.
One of my best friends is a Jew
You are joking -- not even you with your lies, racist slurs and shameless straw man attacks would write that!?
This is just too... much.
-
Racist insults, too?! You're a real class act!
Here you even do racist attacks, which really is beyond the Pale in western society -- I guess your stinking racist ass are from the here, or something? I really hope you're a bad troll, but if not -- I wrote this as honest advice to you.
No, you stupid lying little idiot. I merely said that Hezbollah were responding to Israeli atrocities.
And how do you know that? It looked like realpolitik, i.e. Iran needed focus moved from their troubles -- and since they finance and train Hezbollah, they get what they want. Which seems in character, considering Hezbollah's present cynic power politics in Lebanon.
WHAT? You stupid fucking retarded Jew! It was an international incident! How do you like it when people deny the Holocaust? You think you're the only humans, and the only ones who deserve to have your people mourned?
Everyone that disagree with you is a Jew? The Israelis motivated why it probably wasn't a miss from their artillery but a Palestinian mine on the beach -- did the IDF lie or was it wrong? I don't know. You don't know either -- but you are certain who is guilty! It is always the Jews!! Racist antisemite fanatic asshole.
Since you have nothing constructive to say about it, and no proof otherwise, I can only conclude that I've won the argument by default.
You made claims -- I pointed out repeatedly that you haven't given any support -- and that even your own references contradicted you! (Also, Jenin's proganda that was retracted is well documented). You know all this -- but you claim victory and do racist attacks. You must be a troll, no single person on the planet can have that little integrity.
I will now only respond to further correspondence if you actually make an attempt to address the multitude of issues I've raised, instead of just denying the Palestinian Holocaust ( and I know how much you Jews hate Holocaust deniers )
I gave a reference to Wikipedia and showed that your statements wasn't supported -- in fact, the systematic murders were on Jews by Arabs, as usual. That follows most other sources I've read (there was one documented massacre in one (1) Arab village, which you could have given a reference to).
I have a strong, well educated mind, and I'm not about to be swayed by some snotty little arsewipe who's best arguement is crying "LIAR!". That's no argument, and to prove my point, I will once again call you a liar.
Repeating empty claims when showed to be wrong implies a strong mind?! Another unique position... like that democracies are worth a million times more criticism than dictatorships -- even despite the democracy being false!! You claim to not lie -- but never discuss where I showed you wrong, time and time again (see references I gave above).

Re:Interfering with a religion, eh?
"No, I don't. Turkey, Iran*, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, and the UAE (United Arab Emirates) are some countries that do not experience this "surge in violence" that you keep referring to."
Actually, since you mentioned it, Turkey has had a great deal of Muslim violence over the years, just ask the Armenians and the Kurds. But since both have been almost disappeared, there isn't much violence anymore. Kuwait and UAE are small almost quaint countries, and I would agree that they are exceptions to the rule, but you'll see why later on in this reply. Honestly I don't know much about Kazakhstan.
Now Iran is interesting story, because we had the very long, and recent war with Iraq. Not to mention the violent overthrow of the previous (albeit tainted) administration. I actually fear for the entire middle east should Iran get nukes. Their involvement in the sectarian violence in Iraq is also quite suspected.
Okay, so of the several you mention, only two small emirates are relatively violence free, and mainly because they are small enough that they really don't matter much. Saudi Arabia is also relatively peaceful, as is many other Muslim countries.
I dare say that this is because most of these are homogenized Muslim countries, being largely of one sect or another. You are free to worship Allah, just as long as it is in the prescribed way according to that country's position. Anything less is not tolerated, and is purged, often violently.
"You chastise the parent for not providing facts about Islam, yet, you come across as someone who only discovered Islam after 9/11 by providing ZERO facts of your own. You may have a pHd in Islamic studies, but, based on this post, you make no mention as to where you are getting your information from."
I think I mentioned the Channel Four secret video of Muslim Clerics preaching their hatred. There are plenty of information available. The most chilling is what Islam teaches its children and promotes on National TV programs ...
http://www.memritv.org/Transcript.asp?P1=924
The reference about Pepsi is quite telling about the Muslims of the world.
"Basmallah: The Pepsi company."
For those who may not understand the referrence the little girl made to "PEPSI", there is a lie circulating among Muslims worldwide, that the company is owned by the "Jews" and that the popular drinks name is an anagram, meaning;
"Pay Every Penny Save Israel"
This is being PROMOTED on NATIONAL TV (Iqra TV) by the MODERATE Islamic state of Saudi Arabia. Little three year old girl saying she would kill a Jew. Nice.
Now tell me, where exactly does Mainstream Islam stand on such issues? All I hear is deafening silence. I understand why, death threats usually silence all but the truly heroic people. -
Re:Another possible cause.
Perhaps in response to unbridled United States aggression in the region.
Obviously, because we all know that things in the Middle East are all sweetness and light when the United States isn't around, and that no Arab, Persian, or Muslim would ever kill a fellow, let alone a Jew. -
Re:Muslims in a bad light? Check out Arab TV!That's nothing compared to the way Israelis and Jews are presented on TV in Muslim countries. Nobody bats an eyelid there when Jews are presented as harvesting organs from unwitting Palestinians, or plotting to take over the world, or sacrificing Muslim children to drain their blood.

Hard to sayI strongly doubt that the Iranians would not use Iranian special forces to accomplish such a mission and instead use a 15 year old kid who played the game two times. Instead they want the kid to join the Iranian military or just shut up about the poor Iranian economy.
It is kind of hard to say what they would do now. The Iranian military is much better equipped today than they were in the early '80s, but would they resort to tactics like this again? Who knows? I expect that they would if push came to shove.During the Iran-Iraq War, the Ayatollah Khomeini imported 500,000 small plastic keys from Taiwan. The trinkets were meant to be inspirational. After Iraq invaded in September 1980, it had quickly become clear that Iran's forces were no match for Saddam Hussein's professional, well-armed military. To compensate for their disadvantage, Khomeini sent Iranian children, some as young as twelve years old, to the front lines. There, they marched in formation across minefields toward the enemy, clearing a path with their bodies. Before every mission, one of the Taiwanese keys would be hung around each child's neck. It was supposed to open the gates to paradise for them....

They don't want to invade other lands ? Then exactly what, in your opinion, is happening in Israel ? In India ? In Indonesia ? In Malaysia ? In Sudan ?
And Iran, the country with the biggest oil supplies in the world wants nuclear power to create a drug for aids.

They would feed heavy water from a reactor core to aids patients. Needless to say, if you drink a single drop of that you'll be dead in minutes, and the whole field where they bury you will not carry any plants for decades. -

You don't need to lie to get our point across, and currently Western media does an incredibly crappy job of covering it:

My bet 100% of the news watching majority that use TV as their only source of information have never seen any of the above.
Rumsfeld's tactics of winning the hearts and minds is a vital part of what the Bush Doctrine is trying to achieve. It's something we should have been focused on all along. -

Re:Deja Vu
Yes. Did you know that divine spiders from Allah are defeating the Americans in Fallujah to such an extent that they're having to drop body bags (of soldiers) from planes into lakes.
If it wasn't for the internet, we wouldn't have been informed of this!
Damn the USSA and Bushitler!!!! -
Re:Indy Media Watch
You were modded down because most other people on slashdot realize this.
Hello Anonymous Coward,
So what your saying is I was modded down because someone (one person, not most of Slashdot actually) disagreed with me. So they modded me down because they happened to have some mod points, rather than try and argue and attempt to disprove my point? Rather a weak way to win an argument don't you think? In fact, it means plenty of people won't get to see my argument and make up their own mind... Tell us the one about censorship!
As for pro-terroristic rhetoric building on "actual negative conditions in people's lives" bear in mind the Ethiopians, the Tibetans, the Native Americans, the Australian Aboriginals and any number of massively oppressed, hungry, occupied NON-MUSLIM victims of poverty have NOT taken to suicide bombing or deliberate shooting of children.
The difference, and the reason why is obvious and you are not arguing with what I said, but your own misinterpretation of it. Sorry Anonymous Coward, but hate is a major cause of terrorism (haev a look at what's shown on Arab Television if you don't believe me.
If stopping hate or the incitement of children to kill and murder, leads to a reduction in terror, that's fine by me even if you (anonymous coward) believe it's censorship.
