torrent
i suggest searching for a torrent.
use isoHunt or maybe novasearch. ...if you've got the original receipts and boxes of course ;) -
Re:Heh
That link is dead.
However it's possible to find the patch by using Novasearch (the Suprnova search engine). -
Re:Translation of the Dutch weblog postI disagree: they have been around six months or so already, and they change mirrors a lot less often than you'd think. For the first few months one of their major mirrors was in fact Comcast's home pages
:-). I think they'll be able to hop around for a long time, maybe forever --- after all, look at spammers. (The guy who runs it is Czech or some other place east of Germany I believe). They have even started up the wonderfully amateur Suprnova Radio. So I don't think they're feeling any kind of pinch.
I think the flat availability of content for free is going to be the future, one way or another: these guys are the advance guard.
Seriously the berry people should talk to them, imagine the power of a BT-swarm type network in residential areas with one of these wireless devices in each house.

Re:P2P App recommendations?
Very simple.
Download the experimental Bittorrent client.
Go to Suprnova.org and check out what's new, or use Nova Search to look for something specific.
The advantages of Bittorent: swarmed downloads (if a lot of people are downloading something, the speeds increase); auto-verify downloaded pieces against a hash (no more fakes or poisoned files).
The disadvantages: easy as piss for other clients to get your IP (if you're worried about that sort of thing). -
Re:The Office
Or just d/l the whole thing with BitTorrent.

Re:Cap your BT upload?
a better windows friendly way to do it is to pirate a program called netlimiter (or buy if your so inclined). ive been using it for months and got it for the purposes of easily changing the cap on the upload bandwidth of BT.
i couldnt figure out how to add that command line to the main program so when i click on a link it is always enacted as a rule. this program i highly recomend though as it allows me to cap any windows tcp/ip connection (doesnt seem to work for ipx). it has monitoring graphs as well as collecting statistics and monitoring all connections made in and out of the pc.
its also quite friendly on ram and cpu.
you can get it from here or buy it from netlimiter -
Torrents in case you missed it
Go get the Torrents if you want to watch these shows.
As I write this, part 1 has ~250 seeds and part 2 has ~300 seeds.

quicker bulletpoint reviewAllow me to summarize your review and add my own points:
- The story was great.
- The characters had more than 2 dimensions.
- The Tits & Assification of the remake was just a little over the top.
- Physics wasn't violated for the sake of morons expecting StarWars.
- Kinetic weapons! (instead of your standard lightspeed lasers... that MISS all the time!)
- Sound in space was only a dull roar (for our benefit).
- Commercials? What commercials?
Definitely worth a series, IMO.

Re:My experiance with d/l'ing music...The simple fact is that the P2P networks are so full of garbage as to make hem not worth the effort.
Wrong.
You just don't know how to use p2p effectively. What most people learn to do is combine p2p with a trustable source (of file "fingerprints"). You've never really been able to trust random search results. e.g. Searching for "paris hilton sex tape" turns up a LOT of renamed fakes, unless you know who to trust for verified file hashes.
Now, eventually trust networks will be built into the p2p protocols, but until then there are central and not-so-central websites that serve as very trustworthy indexes of p2p content.
A few of the more popular ones:
- BitTorrent: NovaSearch, torrentlinks
- eDonkey: ShareReactor, FileNexus
- Kazaa: FastTrackmovies -CLOSED - never really used kazaa much myself.
- Gnutella: Bitzi

Re:MAME is great but....Ever heard of eMule?
Site is VERY slow, but obviously as soon as you get the links in your client, you'll enjoy P2P and stuff.
Alternatively, you can download from Suprnova with BitTorrent.
So there you have it! Have fun buying memory cards if you want to bring all those games with you at once.

BitTorrent linksHere's the BitTorrent links to the same thing, except that it's in three convenient 300MB divx parts.

Re:This is a good thingUh, you'd be suprised how many people are "warezing" Lindows and Xandros (when RedHat, Mandrake and Knoppix are free/FREE and just as user-friendly).
