Re:USB
The XBox DOES use USB, but not the same plug style. There are products that let you convert an XBox controller to a standard flat USB plug. With these adapters and the right driver, you can connect the XBox controller to either a Windows or MacOS X computer.

Re:Loses main advantages of USB
Doesn't this lose the main advantages of USB: Devices drawing power from the bus
Someone ought to tell them that the most successfull USB devices are: -
they can kiss my sorry butt.
I swear by the EMS USB2 adapter. it allows you to use 2 Playstation Dual Shock pads per adapter. fully supported under linux, and recommended by the PyDance authors for those who crave Dance Mats. Works wonderfully in every emulator that supports the kernel joystick driver, and especially rules for XMame's fighting games The PS2 Dual Shock is the best controller ever made, other than the Japanese Saturn controller. Why use a crappy Gravis "good enough" pad if you already have the real thing?

Re:Xbox controller
The www.llama.com link is a good example of how to match up the wires to the USB cable but I think using a $9 xbox extension cord would give a better result as you wouldn't lose any functionality by performing the mod (ie. ripping apart the xbox to get a controller port to use. OR cutting the controller cable to splice into the USB cord).
Or, if you're lazy... play-asia.com sells these cables pre-made. -
Why not just get a GP32?
It's more powerful and there's lots of emulators already ported to it.
Here's a link from Google to one reseller. -
article submitter screwed up
he refers to it as a "16x9 screen TFT LCD screen" while his linked article clearly describes it as "16:9" (i.e. aspect ratio), that colon has a far different meaning than an "x"
it is in reality a 4.5" TFT LCD with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
less confusing display specs here -
Re:With all those add-ons...
Since they were going to need all the space for the other stuff anyway, I'm glad they opted to tack on the massive 16x9 inch screen.
Actually it's a 16:9 aspect ratio i believe, not 16"x9", looks to be a 4.5" TFT LCD, 16:9 Widescreen with Backlit
Specs here
So no, this thing will most likely be nothing like the laptop size some seem to be suggesting.

Re:For the love of god...
best place to buy GP32 is Play-Asia.com, they're very reliable and prompt. I've purchased one GP32, and several games from them, and it's always a pleasant experience.
