Ask them to send you an email! From there, you can choose to junk it or open it. Mine usually filter down to the bottom of my inbox. Important mail gets sorted into folders. I've had to let people ring to voicemail before who call over and over again - t's a good way to dodge them. Most of them are offering IT contracting services (gee who do you think you are talking to? bitches!), or some new phone system or other tech. Usually they get the point but if you do have to talk to them, as long as you act like you have something else to do, and be professional, just ask them to send you their company and contact info and get them off the phone.

What's stopping them from having a Wikipedia Pro or something site that a-la-Facebook can be directed only to school networks and they can be moderated by librarians or who ever. Point being it would be tied into existing user accounts for regular users and for admin users. Seems good enough if it were done properly. Every school on the system would be able to see the articles edited by any or all of the schools. Something much bigger than plain-old-Wikipedia, which would be a fall back in case there are articles that haven't been edited by a Pro user.

There are a BUNCH of FF fans who are not part of the Buffy/Angel 'verse. I, for one, never saw one episode of either of them - thinking it was just another WB show. A friend of mine recieved the Firefly DVD set as a christmas gift, and back in July '04 we finally got to watching it after it had set around for months. I think we watched about 4 episodes back-to-back that night... of course we are all hooked now. Can't wait for this thing to come out. I saw the trailer on the big screen this past Saturday during the 40 Year Old Virgin (which was hilarious... watch it!) and I thought it looked quite shiny even though I've seen it numerous times on my laptop screen. Bottom line - liking Firefly != liking Buffy, so if that makes you feel any better, go netflix the DVD set already!

  20. Re:My answer: emulators on Best Way To Manage Growing Console Clutter? · · Score: 1

Getting a tiny PC next to the TV may be an option... but a modded Xbox will give you just about all the functionality you'll need to be using it for anyway. Our modded Xbox plays Atari, C64, NES, Genesis, SNES, GBA, MAME games all great. It even is able to handle some n64 games but now that we have a Gamecube we can use that to emulate the n64 games (how do you think they got ocarina of time and majora's mask to work on the GC zelda disc they gave away? emulators of course!).

Not to mention that it's also turned into a media server to play Divx movies and any other media we have shared to it over our LAN. It really is quite useful to have all that in one box running with the same controllers. So right now just about all the gaming we do is on the Xbox or Gamecube. My PS2 is just gathering dust as just about all the games I want to play have an Xbox equivalent now which looks and plays better anyway.

Having said all that... our cords still lie all over the place since we have extension cords for all the controllers... 4 for xbox, 4 for gamecube.. it gets messy unless we actually put everything away. That's really the best way to do it. I would love to have 4 wavebird controllers for the GC but that would not only be like $200 I bet but it would interfere with my precious 2.4ghz wireless network also. I'll keep my cords for now, thanks.

Now all I need is a television that can do 1080i and preferably with 5+ sets of inputs so I don't have to worry about using that pesky switchbox all the time. Then, life will be good ;)

Mod parent up. I'm not sure about configuring WEP on a PC, but on my Powerbook if there's a wireless network in range that I'm trying to join (Airport menu -> name of wireless network) and it doesn't already have the WEP key stored in my keychain, it will pop up a window asking me what the proper key is (along with a drop menu to choose which level of encryption). Simply type in the key, hit ok and *gasp* it's working!

All incrediby easy if you can 1. connect to a wireless network and 2. read.

The www.llama.com link is a good example of how to match up the wires to the USB cable but I think using a $9 xbox extension cord would give a better result as you wouldn't lose any functionality by performing the mod (ie. ripping apart the xbox to get a controller port to use. OR cutting the controller cable to splice into the USB cord).

Or, if you're lazy... play-asia.com sells these cables pre-made.
