Why build a Star Destroyer when there's Slashdot
Why build one when you have Slashdot at your disposal. Just aim it at any site, and KABLAM, they're gone. Nice job taking out lacie. Slashdot strikes once again and shows no mercy (queue evil empire music).

Re:in related news...
Intel won't show up because they would get pwned. Not a good idea to show up knowing that you're going to lose. Intel is just having a hard time adjusting to AMDs rise in the cpu market. AMD has quietly been focused on quality and innovation as opposed to gimmicky commercials and stiff arming tactics like Intel.

Been known for long time
Just doing a search for "hyperthreading problems" in Google will give you hundreds of articles about this. I remember complaints coming out right after the release of those CPUs from places like Anandtech and so on. In some cases, having hyperthreading enabled could cause a crash. Nice job Intel. I'll stick with my Athlon

A very timely fix unlike M$
"The site says Google fixed the problem on October 18, four days after a security researcher called ANELKAOS alerted the company to the problem."
Say what you will about Google, but 4 days is fast. I think Microsoft takes weeks, if not months to fix problems. As a matter of fact, I bet there are vulnerabilities that are years old. Not to mention that M$ gets angry whenever a security group points out a bug.

Billions and billions
"Billions and billions of devices that will service these people."
Ah yes, in the immortal words of Carl Sagan

DRM is useless
Companies are so worried about piracy that they go to these extremes. What they need to look at is why are people pirating. Many people pirate because the thought of spending $17 for a cd is rediculous considering that only a few songs are worth a damn. Secondly, DRM makes it worse because people can't rip the audio for their mp3 player. This drives people to piracy and the DRM makes it worse and drives the consumer away. Just lower the damn prices and let me burn it, rip, or do anything else I want with it because it's mine!

It has the potential to be great
I agree that out of the box on release the 360 will be far from stellar, but thats to be expected. A system like this takes time to mature. Programmers have to gear up for a new platform and so on. There is definately no reason to jump on this especially at the high price. I would wait till Sony and Nintendo release theirs thus driving down prices.

There are bigger problems to solve
While I find this accomplishment impressive, I think energy should be focused on the basics in poor nations. Basic necessities like food, clean water, healthcare are more vital. Yes technology is great, but look at the US. Every kid uses a computer from day one and we still lag behind many countries in the basics like math and science.

It's about time...
Now if both browsers and programmers would adhere to the html standards we might actually get somewhere. I'm tired of testing my website in 3 browsers and seeing three different results

Step in the right direction.
People can complain all they want, but this is a bold step for the networks. Obviously, there needs to be improvements, but this shows that p2p is not evil like its being portrayed. Networks are finally getting the message! In time, this will improve

Great idea, but what about minutes?
My main issue with cell phones is having a cap on minutes. And don't dare go over otherwise it'll cost you dearly. I'll be more impressed with cell phones when it's just a constant monthly fee for unlimited usage. All this nights and weekend crap is a scam. Imagine if your internet usage was charged this way... you couldn't afford to read all the "valuable" comments in Slashdot

No it's not.
I don't think a Binary Driver layer should be introduced. Hardware manufacturers lose interest in products as soon as they're released. So to have the specs open and allow the community to maintain the driver as long as there's a community for it simply makes sense. It's in the consumers' best interest.

If it ain't broke...
Thus far, the US has actually done a great job. There is no need to change things around unless a solid case can be made.

Rip Off!!
So I have to pay for cable and/or satellite, then I have to pay more for a show that just aired?!?! Plus I don't get a copy of it?!?! I'm sticking with my SageTV PVR and a 250GB drive. I can record any show I want and keep it forever at no additional cost! I hope this fails miserably.

Commercials as we know them are doomedI believe Google's ability to advertise inconspicuously will dominate the marketplace in the years to come. The days of annoying commercials for minutes at a time are numbered. People won't stand for them as is evident by the popularity of DVRs. I started using a homemade one 3 years ago and haven't looked back. People would say something about a commercial they saw and I honestly can say I haven't seen one in a loooooong time
:)What Google will hopefully bring to the television is what they brough to the web... text ads or something else unobtrusive they people don't mind seeing. They could even be shown during a show in the lower right corner like most stations display their stupid logo.
Obviously, I'm no Einstein otherwise I would be working for Google, but there has to be a successor to the half-century old commercial. It's annoying, expensive, and going the way of the dinosaur.
