Looks like an old Bell System facility
The Nebraska facility is almost certainly a former Bell System facility. It has a classic AT&T microwave tower and high bays for switching equipment. AT&T used to have underground centers across the country for survivable communications. Here's one that is for sale.
There are a surprising number of bunkers for sale in the US. I see some on the market that were being offered a decade ago. The costs of refurbishing and operating a big military facility in the middle of nowhere are high, and few people bother. Some have done so, and then realized they don't really want to live there.

Well if I had the money Silo Home

Re:Nice... not
Too bad you are narrow minded. I would pay $2,000,000 to live in a hole in the ground.
I would LOVE to live in a decommissioned Missile silo.

Re:The dream ...> [long post snipped]
You want what I want. A Reconditioned Missile Silo.
Windows on the above-ground facilities. All the tunnels and underground garage space you want in the rest. A back yard big enough for its own airstrip.
And as for security - you can't beat a 2000-pound blast door for keeping nosy neighbors at bay.

Re:Yeah, here's one of of the fixed-up atlas silosHere's a nice one, already fixed up as a home...
EBay item # 1761906773: Missile Silo Home
"Located in the Adirondack Mountains and nestled between lakes Champlain and Lake Placid, this secluded home is the brainchild of developers Gregory Gibbons and Bruce Francisco. The retired Atlas-F Missile Silo has been transformed into a quiet, safe and secure luxury home in an area designed by the government to withstand a direct nuclear hit... This may be your last chance to find an uncontaminated and usable hardened underground complex." (link from GMSV) -

Nuke shelter? Why not live in the missile silo itself?

Re:Pay with PayPal!
From their FAQ-
Does Russia still have this site as a target?
NO. This Atlas-F Series was finished before the SALT (Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty). The Russians knew these sites were already obsolete and decommissioned.
After a bit of digging around at SiloMan's coordinates page, it appears that that particular site is just off of Route 3 near Clayburg, NY, and can be seen in a 1995 aerial photo on Terraserver. -
Uggghh...
This has to be one of the stupidest house ideas I've ever seen. I've seen aircraft being turned into diners, railroad cars being added on to places, but to use an old 727 as a house/windvane? It's hideous! Your neighbors would probably hate you. Birds would fear your house. And god forbid you live in a place that gets hurricanes. Yipes!
On the other hand, their other auction is pretty cool. -
Missle silo house!
Okay, so it's slightly offtopic... but check out SiloHome! For a mere 2.3 million you can have 4,000 sq.ft. of house, 100 acres of forest, a runway, and a 20,000 sq.ft. empty missle silo!
