what?Take-Two bought DMA Designs in September 1999.
Take-Two is the parent company of Rockstar Games.
In 2002, all they did was rename DMA Designs to Rockstar Studios.
(see: March 19, 2002)
The overall issue: companyA is now called companyB.
From my experience, the biggest impact of a company name change is that a lot of stationary needs to be replaced.
From the article:Even in a community as level-headed as this, the thread about the name change is ruthless, posters furious that Take-Two would claim any credit for the eventual success of BioShock and sully Irrational's good name with brand recognition bollocks.
Maybe I'm crazy but perhaps they'll re-brand it because they pay for everything. -
Re:March 23, 2007
March 23? That's odd, I could have sworn that was the date of the annual board meeting... until it got rescheduled until March 29, that is.

Re:Failed marketing scheme?
No matter what kind of fines and punishments R* gets for the scenes, all the publicity created by the scandal certainly will attract enough customers to more than cover the expenses.
Let's put a stop to this thinking right now - I'm seeing it elsewhere too.
Read this and learn how the real world works.
The important part: As a result of the re-rating of the game, Take-Two is lowering guidance for the third fiscal quarter ending July 31, 2005 to $160 to $170 million in net sales and a net loss per share of $(0.40) to $(0.45) to provide reserves for the value of the title's current North American retail inventory. Accordingly, guidance for the fiscal year ending October 31, 2005 is also being lowered to $1.26 to $1.31 billion in net sales and $1.05 to $1.12 in diluted earnings per share.
Pretty much definitively refutes your theory, and that's straight from the horse's mouth. -

Great!
We can only hope for more high-quality games like Outlaw Golf 2!
Favorite Quote in Outloaw Golf 2 Promo:
The shameless bunch from the Outlaw series returns to the repressed world of golf with their outrageously twisted antics.
I love twisted antics! -
Take2Max Payne IP was sold to Take2 and not to Rockstar, which is just another Take2 'division'. From the linked page:
Take-Two also announced that it has acquired ownership of the Max Payne brand and all intellectual property rights associated with the brand, including trademarks, copyrights, characters, perpetual license to utilize proprietary technologies, including the Max Payne game engine and associated "Bullet Time(TM)" technology, and rights to license fees from ancillary Max Payne brand extensions such as cinema, television and literary productions.
Take-Two purchased the Max Payne property from Remedy Entertainment and Apogee Software in exchange for $10 million in cash and 969,932 shares of restricted common stock, in addition to certain future development incentives.
Let's get things straight please.

Err...Bungie doesn't own Oni.Take 2 Interactive got Oni during the Microsoft buy-out (in exchange for their Bungie stock, IIRC). And if I further recall correctly, the game was then published buy Gathering of Developers.
So, if you want a sequal to Oni, you need to talk to them.
