Re:Starz was only 200-300 mil/year...
I don't get it. Netflix drops Starz over 200-300mil/year but signs Dreamworks at 30 mil per movie? I'm sure Starz delivers more than 10 movies in a year. Do Netflix execs really think their audience will prefer cartoons over serious content?
The only thing decent Starz has ever *produced* was Spartacus: Blood and Sand, IMO. Other than that, they're a Disney outlet. That's really what will hurt them, not so much 'Starz'. Even at that, Disney doesn't tend to put much out via Starz of their 'good' content. There have been maybe 3? Disney flicks on Netflix in the last few years, so it's not a big loss. It's more consumer shock than anything, as most people go "OMG NOT STARZZZZ" when they really don't understand how little content that really is.
And yes, I think DreamWorks is a much bigger name, for movies. Starz doesn't make movies. They shill them.

Android is the real target
The only thing Apple is pissed about is the fact that Amazon is using the App Store to market Android apps. It's specifically mentioned in item 23 of the lawsuit . This is how monopolies are maintained with the blessing of the state, through the use and abuse of stupid patents.

Re:oops
hardware's been hacked, the secret's out. but Sony got its restraining order against Geohot http://www.tekgoblin.com/2011/01/27/sony-wins-restraining-order-against-geohot/ , the new firmware's allready been hacked http://twitter.com/KaKaRoToKS/status/30458152793149440# , and I personally think the update had more to do with COD hacking http://www.ripten.com/2011/01/27/firmware-3-56-ban-hammer-hits-cod-hackers-hard-mauler/ . Might just make me think about playing it again.

Personally, I wouldn't be showing off...
Personally, I wouldn't be showing off images like this one, which clearly show either input delay or a lack of accurate mapping between human motion and character motion.
If I'm going to buy three iToys taped together, I at least expect that when I raise my arms over my head, the character on-screen will do something resembling the same.

10.1 saves the day.
Read this: http://www.tekgoblin.com/2010/06/10/adobe-flash-player-10-1-released-win-mac-and-linux/ I have been using Adobe Flash player since 10.1 beta3 and I have to agree it's amazing. I am using Nvidia 8500GT on Windows 7 and playing 1080p content using flash player is really great. Before getting this card which offers DXVA2 my system would cripple playing youtube 720p or in most cases 480p videos. From browser lock ups to various errors, I have seen it all. I highly recommend this update to anyone with a decent GPU [which is supported by adobe].

Re:Gender expression?
The story has two links. One doesn't mention gender, the other one does. Agreed, "gender expression" is totally off.
Curiously, the TOS seems to be confused as well, since it says "You may use the following terms to express your relationship orientation in your profile or Gamertag" and "Other terms regarding relationship orientation are not allowed", which means this is only about orientation, not gender... but then it includes transgender as an orientation.

Re:In-home Reprimand
Cite? I've seen no claims that the student stole the laptop; there's a big difference between the school district claiming it was activated "upon a report of a suspected lost, stolen or missing laptop" and the student *actually* stole the laptop. Now maybe that's what happened -- he filed a false report or he stole someone else's -- but given that it would be a simple way to shut down the story the silence makes me doubt. "Student X reported his laptop missing, we activated the security system, he still had possession of the laptop, we disciplined him for the false report/fraud." Boom, story (mostly) dead. Instead we have them disciplining him for suspected drug use, and strangely vague and general denials.
