Re: Arianna
I agree that the bloggers had no legal case, but if Arianna had an ounce of class, she'd have cut every blogger a nice check, if not thrown them a giant party as well. She'd still have vastly increased her already immense wealth, and would have been hailed as a hero instead of reviled as a multimillionaire tightwad and hypocrite.
Compare her with Keanu Reeves, who gave $72 million of his Matrix film earnings to the stunt and special effects crews. That's real class.

Re:MediaTomb - Free UPnP MediaServer
Just make sure you hook up your console with an Ethernet cable - I got a lot of stuttering on fast-paced video over the wireless.
Unfortunately the PS3 network stack has been broken for years. Due to constantly dropping the connection and retransmitting everything multiple times, the PS3 needs about 5x - 10x more bandwidth than the actual video stream has. So you'll need a 100Mbit connection to stream a simple 10Mbit video (almost saturating the connection).
A little more detailed analysis can be found on the ps3mediaserver forums and a lengthy discussion (but no solution) can be found here.

Re:Rewrite in C/C++
Have you ever tried to use Java NIO? It's ridiculously overcomplicated for what should be a simple operation.
NIO is horribly overcomplicated to use compared to threads and blocking I/O, and is slower to boot. Don't use it.

Re:Parent - Not A Troll
I'm willing to pay for good entertainment but on my terms. If I spend 100 euro this month on movies and series I think that's fair, but they will probably not be satisfied until I pay 100 times as much for all the other stuff I downloaded. I already pay double for TV and DVDs (with the same content), I pay tax on blank media, I pay for cinema (although I believe that is a truly separate thing I'm willing to pay for), and they also want people to pay for each new format so playing a DVD on your PSP/MP4/mobile would mean paying again (good thing that fair use is still upheld, but it illustrates how far they are trying to go). They made it illegal (via DMCA) to modify any hardware or software you own that can potentially be used to copy media (which I believe infringes on my right to do whatever they fuck I want with what I own). Furthermore it's sickening that downloading few movies can cause a lawsuit against you with a verdict that will essentially bankrupt you while those same movies can be streamed for 3 euro, the damage done to peoples lives is in absolutely no relation to their losses. And last but not least they force their commercials and other crap on you when you just want to watch what you paid for (see this chart).

Re:I'll sue!
Not so! Apparently, there is no connection between computer use and Carpal Tunnel.

Re:The problem with these predictions...
The black box in your car is already storing a lot of this data. I think the standard black box or computer has a very limited historical time range, it does store min/max/and average, thus the max speed for the vehicle is in their somewhere

Re:This one's been posted on Slashdot before...
What I find exceptionally absurd about this is that author of the article, Riyad Kalla, is complaining about fake reviews on Amazon, but the TFA has a link to another article in the "related articles" section, by the same author, celebrating that Denon one you mention. So he finds fake reviews hilarious, except when he doesn't. And writes articles about them in both cases.
