Re:I'll tell you how- they're turning the internet
I stopped after your first selection - I am not that diligent.
https://torrentz.com/search?q=...
There are a number of films called Song of the South that you can check to see if they meet your expectation. You mean the one from the late 40s that was 'banned?' If so then there is a link to a
.torrent or .magnet and there appear to be folks sharing it. I did not, obviously, download it and check. However, I suspect much of what you are missing is out there if you are willing to look hard enough. I have yet to find anything, with any age on it - often with none if I am willing to watch sketchy copies - not available for download. -
Re:"fourth most popular BitTorrent site"
Just compare using http://www.torrentz.com/ instead, it search "many, if not all most popular BitTorrent sites". This way, you'll be able to *cough* compare
:D -
Re:BIG Mistake
The Pirate Bay, TorrentZ, and Demonoid.me to name a few.

Re:backups and rotation
Not true; Wikipedia dumps are often updated, but most of the content stays the same. You could perfectly serve a complete dump every six months, for example, and then serve via HTTP only the diffs to the last dump.
In fact, in the download section of Wikipedia they show* the usage of rsync to download only the changes between the current version and what you have on the disk, which means you could perfectly use a well seeded torrent of the dump and then sync it to the current revision using rsync.
*it seems that section is out of date, I don't know if it still works.

Re:From a Completely Different Perspective
Hmm, now you have me curious...
Matlock Season 1 DVD Rip, but that is all I found. Four seeders so at least it is not a dead torrent. Looks like Matlock ran for nine seasons and the first four seasons are on DVD with the fifth season due in July! Grandma just needs the DVDs and she can rip and seed for all the other grandmas...
Emergency! turned up some promising results.
That Girl only an unaired pilot, but all five seasons are out on DVD at at least providing a good source for a torrent to be ripped from.
Odd Couple turned up all five seasons!
Hopefully torrent search results are not too frowned upon here... -

Re:Dammit...
Ok, ok. You almost got me. I figured "No problem, there must be a crack out there."
I found Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus and Barbie Fashion Show nocd entries (I don't pirate games, but I do circumvent copy protection on games I buy so I don't have to keep inserting the CD), but, strangely, Barbie Horse Adventures was absent at the no-cd site that I frequent. That was a surprise, given how comprehensive that site usually is for the most obscure of games. I did come across some forum posts for Barbie Horse Adventures (lots of "LOL" in that one), but not a nocd solution for it.
Oh, wait, here we go. The whole game is on torrent. I assume that is probably cracked, although I didn't try it, for obvious reasons. Like I said, I don't usually look for actual games (I buy them), but apparently Barbie Horse Adventures is available in some form.
Wait, this was your whole nefarious plan to find it, wasn't it?

They have Demonoid listed, but its been down for a while and likely isn't coming back for a while.
Try this instead: http://www.torrentz.com/ -
Re:Can I avoid this simply by avoiding Disney?
Sounds good, I'll rip all them to Mp4 Xvid and they will play on their PC/whatever.
Why bother ripping? Your first task on coming home from the hospital should be to grab a torrent like this one.

Re:Pirate Bay is dead.
Mininova is a really good choice and is pretty popular. Torrentz.com is a good index of torrents from other sites, though it's not clear why torrents are sometimes missing.

Aha
...Yeah! Disks again, whatever...

Re:Alternative?
Search engine for search engines
:) Plus you get the tracker list for free :) (So even if TPB goes down, your torrent will run.) -
Re:Devil's Advocate
Yeah, well, they are getting smarter. Especially with video streams, they have an option of gluing the ad stream to the content, which would render ABP useless. But then again, there are other places to get your TV fix, completely ad free[1].
Besides streaming, they have no hope. Just like with spam, but even more so, website ads are susceptible to filtering by content. It would be a nice project to have: a trainable plug-in which allows the user to mark ads by clicking on them (if they are objects) or by selecting pieces of text. If a well-trained filter can block, say, 95% of all ads on your favorite website, then you feel 20 times better and they are totally boned. What are they going to do?, post 20 times more ads?
[1] Although the websites themselves may be littered with ads

Re:answer to your flamebait:
I don't like the feces stuff of the post before but please consider:
How's china? Ask the thousands of guys sentenced to death (well suppose that they can't speak anymore). So go on and ask the rural population or the dalai lama... And yes, have a ride in Cuba and wonder why they aren't allowed to leave the country or travel town to town. For your information: Venezuela has no indipendent TV anymore and it is likely to turn into a totalitarian regime. North Korea is served here: http://www.torrentz.com/04253f6d2fb37fce9be538826d3558876baf94a5 but the torrents to a good use
That's the commonist way, so stop bullshitting people
Enrico
P.S. The proposed french law is simply a idiocy. In exchange of nothing they threaten the consumers, no real democratic governmente would approve that. -

Just use http://torrentz.com/ it searches all the big sites at the same time.

Re:Compare to legitimate drug dealers?
No, that is wrong. Read the original post more carefully--getting caught in the swarm nets you an instant denuncation to your ISP. A tracker may host thousands of swarms. If you are downloading legitimate content then BayTSP should have no interest in that particular swarm. This blog post makes a valid point in a strictly legal sense, but it's really splitting hairs. If a tracker lists you as part of the swarm, there is a 99.9% chances that you are exchanging the data in question. Perpetrating a DOS attack using this guy's script lies at the extreme end of the improbability spectrum.
I think the whole mentality here is a load of crap, starting with the rather slanted writeup of the article and filtering down to all the other comments. If you're going to download copyrighted material, fine. I do it. But at least take a little fscking responsibility for your actions. If you get nailed, it's no one's fault but your own. Everyone around here seems to want to perpetuate the lie that BitTorrent is "mostly" used for legitimate purposes. Bullshit. Go look at any of the index sites and you'll find the ratio of copyrighted:free content is about 100:1. That's not an argument for banning it altogether--I freely acknowledge there are many legitimate uses--but enough with the persecution complex, already. -

Your link is long on snipets but very short on details and context. And thus, worthless.

Space Odyssey
And not the old outdated Kubrick's one, but the new one. BBC has made a great docudrama on manned exploration of Solar System. 5 astronauts set on a scientifically correct journey around the Solar System, starting with a brief landing on Venus, then going for a 3-week stay on Mars and then to the outer planets. As of today this is undoubdly the best movie about space with the possible exception of Contact. Yes, others have more action, better directing or have been more influential in the past, but overall Space Odyssey wins.
See the information about it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/tvradio/programmes/spaceod yssey/
Get it off the BitTorrent (sadly it doesn't seem to be available on DVD yet):

ENTIRE SITE ARCHIVE - BittorrentFor the benefit of posterity, I archived the entire site this morning, including audio and video content. It is now available for you to download as a Bittorrent release, containing a single RAR file. The site was archived using HTTrack 3.3 and set to crawl to infinitely many levels, excluding external sites. You may unpack to an empty folder and browse it as if you were on the live site.
Total size is 450MB, compressed down to 130MB using WinRAR 3.3.
