Yeah but no but yeah but no
I use both iPhone & Samsung. If Apple doesn't give info to authorities on the terrorists I'll only be using Samsung until they give info.

I have no desire for Ann Coulter to have any of my money, nor do I wish to hear about what she's thinking. She is a professional troll, I'm not going to let her sucker me into giving her my money.
As for what Trump likes to read, here are a few titles you might be interested in:

If Obama grants Manning clemency Assange will agree to US extradition despite clear unconstitutionality of DoJ case
Can you tell me where it says pardon?
This is AC you quoted and replied to.
Why are you asking me where it says pardon?
The whole point of my post is that Assange's offer does NOT use the word pardon. -
Re:Y'all can't see why pardoning would be critical
you can't see in his case why it would be critical whether Manning was pardoned
I know you know what that word means, but did you know Assange never used it?
My personal prejudice is that Assange is every bit the man he has just proven to be. He demanded Clemency, Manning got Clemency, and his criticism is well deserved.
-
Re:Yeah, not a surprise
I see it now: "Oh, I said pardon, not reduced sentence."
Except that is indeed what he said. Assange said "pardoned" and Manning wasn't pardoned.
I think you may be wrong. Here's the original offer from WikiLeaks twitter account.
https://twitter.com/wikileaks/...
It looks to me that Assange did indeed say "clemency" and there's no mention of a timeframe. -
Re:Yeah, not a surprise
I think you hit right on. It was clearly a stunt.
From the summary:
The commitment to accept extradition to the U.S. was based on Ms Manning being released immediately,
This folks, is what we call a technicality.
But what's fun is Assange didn't say "immediately" when he made the offer to accept extradition, so it's not even a technicality.
This is the original WikiLeaks tweet:
https://twitter.com/wikileaks/...
"If Obama grants Manning clemency Assange will agree to US extradition despite clear unconstitutionality of DoJ case" -

Is that why they were freaking out over this?
Because they were going to sting him?
I'm trying to figure out how, exactly, that makes sense.

Wait, it looks like there are two tweets, slightly different:
The original from last year: https://twitter.com/wikileaks/...
A new, similar one without the "exchange" from this year: https://twitter.com/wikileaks/...
Yup I noticed that after I posted as well.

So then, any response from Wikileaks / Assange? Will he now give himself up, as per this tweet - https://twitter.com/wikileaks/... ? (Note - not a troll response, genuinely interested to hear what folks think happens on that front now... )

Why are you dragging Trump into this?
-
Re:Is more education, better education . . . ?
I think you nailed it on the head right there. The amount of "I'm offended" from millennials is staggering
millenials like... oh who was that famous person who got all offended and called for a safe space recently...? Name will come to me soon. Oh yes, Trump.
They can't even handle the results of a democratic election.
Which is ironic because the person who won the democratic election can't handle some democratic free speech!
I didn't vote for the guy, but he made it to president so that alone deserves respect from every single American.
So we should respect people who call for safe spaces and can't handle a bit of democratic free speech?
I'm confused and I think you are too.

Re: Well Trump has one thing right
Low pay? What are you talking about? Here is the most recent data on internships and entry level tech company positions in Silicon Valley: https://twitter.com/jtc_au/sta...
Do you understand that the median income in the US is around $50k?
Tech workers always come off as completely disconnected from reality when they whine about low pay. There are very few other positions where you can make what you make right out of undergrad and then continue to have wage growth well above COLA.
And then your other point, I don't even know what to do with. You're essentially complaining that tech workers have other even more lucrative opportunities open to them, so they leave tech. Wtf is a problem there?

Well, apparently the President Elect of the USA believes the anti-vaccination idea, so...soon it will move on from "fear and doubt" into "official policy".

Dude, people think Obamacare != ACA
I saw some Trump voters being interviewed on TV yesterday, and they were quite certain that Trump was not just going to repeal Obamacare, he was going to replace it with something cheaper and better. I'll be curious to see how he manages that.
Dude, there are people who think they'll be safe from the Obamacare repeal because they are covered by the ACA.

Hide a tree in a forest.
I already explained the "debunking" is both selective and silly and gave you the source to watch. The same "standard" isn't held for any of the facts in the report, which are dropping like flies. The fact that you want FISA warrants to look into 4chan erotic fanfics just makes this even more hilarious.
I mean, you haven't even caught on to half of my throwaway jokes yet...
I love that you do not provide any actual evidence here. Please note what qualifies as a evidence here. I want real docs, not anonymous rumors laundered through the press, so spare me the CNN, NYT, BuzzFeed, WaPo, etc. links and look at who they claim to have gotten it from and what they have to back it up. You've got what? Basically, this MI6 opposition researcher who sources absurd erotic fanfics while writing the DNC's "research"? The same anonymous fake agents whose tricks I took the piss out of both last week and in my last post?
I'll save you some time, it appears to start with this story by Louise Mensch, then laundered through Julian Borger at the Guardian, which ultimately claims there are "two separate sources with links to the counter-intelligence community." Why yes, I do love unverifiable info from anonymous people who are allegedly part of our most secret and least trustworthy court! That's practically the golden standard of proof these days! We can't provide you with our evidence, it's classified! But we can totally feed random nonsense to BuzzFeed, CNN, and the rest of the fake news.
The funnies part is that I thought they'd learned their lesson by now, but no, they just had to swallow that ridiculous BuzzFeed story about pissing on Obama's bed. Yes, it's really that absurd if you haven't seen it yet. It's on page 2, bullet #3:
However, there were other aspects to TRUMP's engageement with the Russian authorities. One of which had borne fruit for them was to exploit TRUMP's personal obsessions and sexual peversion in order to obtain suitable 'kompromat' (compromising material) on him. According to Source D, where s/he had been present, TRUMP's (peprverted) conduct in Moscow included hiring the presidential suite of the Ritz Carlton Hotel, where he knew President and Mrs OBAMA (whom he hated) had stayed on one of their official trips to Russia, and defiling the bed where they had slept by employing a number of prostitutes to perform 'golden showers' (urination) show in front of him. The hotel was known to be under FSB control with micropohones and concealed cameras in all the main rooms to record anything they wanted to.
Exercise for the reader: Next time you get anonymous crap, try looking into the journalist whose byline appears instead of pointing to the anonymous secret agents. Find other stories they've written. Look at patterns and "sources."
-
The meme is the message
That's especially funny.
Because I believe I explained how this kind of nonsense works in my comment from just under a week ago, quoted in relevant part:
I have secret evidence that your secret evidence is completely bogus. This same secret evidence also indicates that you secretly wet the bed last night. And 20 organizations have signed off on it.
People who watch the "news" are like 50 shades behind everything going on. You guys have no idea how hilarious this is while waiting for you to catch up. But the real joke here is that there are people who actually think that CNN & BuzzFeed's "raw intelligence" of Trump pissing on Obama's bed is real. Corroborating evidence? We have a video of someone who gave Trump a golden shower in 2011! (quasi-SFW, despite what you might think)
Just don't read this guy's explanation of how it was sourced from nonsense they fabricated based on this old TIL on Reddit (amazing how history repeats itself...). But yes, someone can then feel free to link me to BuzzFeed & others "debunking" that one on the basis that the 4chan post laughing about their first victim is newer than the document they wrote during the primaries.
And then we can laugh at how they don't totally "debunk" the dossier based on the fact that they can't corroborate anything worth a damn in it, save maybe that it was created by someone doing an opposition report on Trump who got paid more the longer it was. That way we can all ignore all the more mundane items in the report that were proven to be nonsense. Anyhow, there are far more interesting things to research while everyone else is still wading through the "leaks" and yellow journalism. Feel free to keep wading through the stream, hoping to uncover nuggets of truth. I don't know about you, but after that sort of filth, I need a shower.

Questions, and my best wishes.
Since you're the creator of LLVM, I'd like to know, in your opinion what's the greatest advantage of LLVM/Clang over the tradicional and established GNU GCC compiler. Also, what's the greatest advantage of GNU GCC (or if you'd prefer, any other compiler) over LLVM/Clang, something that you'd like to "port" someday?
Also, since I work mostly with Linux development, what do you see as the greatest advantages of the Apple developer stack (libraries, xcode, etc) that are sorely lacking in the Linux developing scene, that we should strive to copy/implement?
By the way, and unrelated, congratulations on the Walnut Dining Table you made. It's amazing!

Beijing city can't fix its pollution itself
Beijing itself is fairly clean for a developing economy capital. Most of the cars are pretty new, there are not too many two-stroke tuktuks or scooters, etc. There aren't that many factories within city limits, as most were all closed or moved for the 2008 Olympics. The pollution isn't generated in the city. That's why you see the dramatic video online of "smog sweeping in" - it arrives from elsewhere, you can see it at higher levels in the air already, it doesnt'tcome from the street level. It's actually uncanny being in Beijing when the smog is bad because you can't see any source, no "that truck is belching smoke" or "that chimney is putting out smoke". It arrives from out of sight.
The problem is the surrounding Hebei province which has many of the coal and iron ore mines of China, and much heavy industry and processing of the ores using coal. Beiing can't enforce pollution controls in Hebei and the industrialists in Hebei don't care at all while they make money. For a USA equivalent, imagine if if Connecticut, Long Island and New Jersey were covered in dirty industrial plant while New York City was trying to improve its air quality. They wouldn't succeed.
It's nice to see Beijing trying to clean up its air, but it won't improve anything until Hebei province has a similar enforcement and it is effective.

Re:Wikileaks
The article is false. Wikileaks does not wish to dox anyone. They wish to create a database of influence. Politician X votes a certain way, you can check and see he was paid off by Corporation Y. Journalist A working for Publication B is owned by Corporation C, which has connections to X, Y, Z, W.
No. The original tweet says nothing about politicians or anything related to sphere's of influence. The tweet, apparently now deleted, read:
We are thinking of making an online database with all "verified" twitter accounts & their family/job/financial/housing relationships.
This is what the article you're reading is about. After there was outrage, Wikileaks (or specifically https://twitter.com/WLTaskForc...) started back peddling, and then claimed everyone who interpreted the above as being a threat to dox as being liars.
Your spin doesn't match what WLTaskForce actually said, and neither does their spin. They said NOTHING about politicians. The vast majority of "verified" Twitter users aren't political at all, they're mostly actors, comedians, authors, and business people.
This was unambiguously a proposal to create a doxxing database. In an era in which Wikileaks is allied with a President-elect who ran a fascist campaign, that's terrifying.

Or we do not need to drive on the Trump Express/Freeway or land at Trump Airport or have dams named after him.
That's funny. Just this afternoon I had to drop a visiting friend off at the George W. Bush Intercontinental Airport here in Houston. When I saw the massive sign I thought to myself, "All things considering, ol' W wasn't all that bad. I may have disagreed with his policies, but at least he wasn't a traitorous rat, in the pocket of an ex-KGB agent."
Happy New Year!

Re:Mandatory?
twitter supports TOTP now for like one week LOL
you can setup it via web
How do I set that up? In Security and privacy, "Verify login requests" was grayed out because "You need to add a phone to your Twitter account to enable this feature." And the "add a phone" page still doesn't appear to offer TOTP/Google Authenticator or voice call support. Do I specifically need the Twitter app, not another TOTP client?
Or is it something that Twitter is rolling out to only a subset of its users as an A/B test?

Hi, Darren here, the author of the tweet
Hello, I'm the author of the tweet that started this all. I think LG noticed the amount of feedback on the tweet, and contacted me to help. It took a bit, but they gave me the factory reset codes. I tried it out tonight, and the tv appears to be back to its original state. I tweeted about it here with a youtube video: https://twitter.com/darrencaut... My family member admitted to downloading an application to watch movies "for free." It's totally her fault that this happened. She installed the malware that made the tv stop working. She changed the setting to allow the unverified software to run on her computer. Her actions led to the tv almost being ruined.
But you know what else? She's no different than most regular customers, and LG should have put the most basic factory reset instructions in the manual... or the service manual... or the FAQs... or on their website... or their tech support (which I called, and they said there was no factory reset, which I knew couldn't be true)... or anywhere. Now, to their credit, LG did research the answer and provide it to me, and I've published it on Youtube and twitter for others to hopefully find (because I've read about others who had this problem and no answer was found).
If the fix to the problem is to press two buttons in sequence on the tv... who is more to blame for the problem, her or the tv manufacturer? I say it's the latter. TV manufacturers should prepare for dumb users, as they are their customers.
I do appreciate LG for their help, and all of the Twitter advice I received. I also hope that LG and other tv manufacturers learn how missing information about a 4-year-old, discontinued model can blow up with negative feelings from their customers *today*. -

Re:I don't think so
Maybe... but the other problem is that none of the other actresses were to become expert script-doctors the way Carrie Fisher was. That is just one of the reasons any other actress would have made Star Wars far more horrible, because they wouldn't have been able to fix Lucas the way she did! And it wasn't just HER dialog she fixed.
I honestly think Star Wars would be a forgotten film if anyone but Carrie Fisher had played Leia.

Trump doesn't seem to be aware of that as he & Pence handed TAXPAYER dollars to Carrier to keep jobs local.
And he's tweeting about nuclear escalation when Obama is still POTUS?? WTF is wrong with him?
