Re:Going back on their word
Know your WoW terminology. It's called TRH, short for "That Retarded Horse".

They are badly losing people...
...so they start screwing up everything good of the game.
I started playing in 2005 (in Europe it came in Feb 2005) and quitted 1 month ago after buying SF4 for PS3. I was mainly a PvP player, but I have done basically all the raid (even partially the new one, Ulduar).
I think vanilla WoW was very good, TBC was the most balanced arena wise, WotLK is the worst ever. No funny dungeons, raids or too simple or too long (couldn't they implement Naxx as 4 bg instances of 1.5 hrs each?).
Anyway, leaving the DK class and other still overpowered for months says long about the attention put into the game. This was the game until 2 months ago...
WotLK has been no fun just waste of money and time.
Now that the boat is slowly sinking due to their greedy policies they are trying to save themselves introducing the most absurd concepts...what a missed opportunity not to do it...

Re:Reminds me of an Onion piece
You might also enjoy World of Workcraft. Those machinima guys are pretty talented.

Re:Sounds like a PR stunt"Well, exactly which of WoW's (or EQ2's, or whatever) quests would be great fun to watch on TV?"
300,000 people tuned in to warcraftmovies.com to watch SK gaming down Kil'Jaeden, and that's only from one site. The video is also hosted at sk-gaming.com, x-fire.com, by bittorrent, youtube... I think the potential viewer base for a project like this is there already. Over 200,000 of those WCM views were on the very first day. Half an hour a week, with some snappy commentators? Maybe you could televise that...

Re:And I care why?
Odds are it was leaked by someone who bought, was given a review or other promo copy of, or otherwise got their hands on the CD (which had the video on it I believe) in advance of its street date. Disappointing, but in the absence of Harry Potter-like enforcement of street date, it was bound to happen.
Speaking of "Weird Al" videos, here's a hilarious one that sets machinema footage from World of Warcraft to "Hardware Store." -
Re:Blizard have been working on this for a while.
They should get the guys from Myndflame to do it. Everytime I here the MC Raiders theme song I feel the urge to sing along while banging my head on the desk... (We got a thunderstrike drop last time we ran MC - free nexus crystals ftw)

Voice Gaming
If you haven't seen it, this is a hilarious example of voice enabled gaming strategy going horribly, horribly wrong.
In this case, a player being away from keyboard (AFK) long enough to miss all of the strategy.

Re:Travesty
For those who don't know, Leeroy Jenkins refers to this video:

The video spread like wildfire throughout the WoW community about a month ago, and it's been leaking into online communities everywhere since then. Even if you don't play WoW, the video is worth seeing. -
Videos, screen shots, etc.
I posted this a few days ago on my AQFL Web site:
Death_Knight's thread (screen shots [nice ion canon] and comments) mentions a FilePlanet (account required -- free or subscription) video file link (87 MB) with Gnomevasion in World of Warcraft. Here is the video file description: "What happens when you take 300 players, throw in teamwork, voice communication, a server crash, and one of the greatest guilds of all time? You get Gnomevasion! In this video members of Sturmgrenadier form up on an alternate server in WoW when their home of Bleeding Hollow goes down. Hilarity ensues when each and every member wreaks chaos on an unsuspecting server with pink-haired pig-tailed gnomes! Download this video and witness the true power of a Gnomevasion."
Non-FilePlanet sites: #1, #2, and #3 (BitTorrent files).
Funny music video! It is two minutes and 20 seconds. Check it out!
