Re: Dreams of the Moon
Of course this is marked troll. Because I must be a Troll if I criticize a man who claims to be a living god along with the Jesus freaks who go along with it.
For the record, I think Jesus is pretty cool. But I don't think that Rev. Moon is Jesus. Nor do I think any fundamentalist would abide his horse-shit if he published a liberal propaganda rag instead of a conservative one.
And for the record, Scientology is full of shit to as well as Clinton's attempts to shield them from German cult busters.

There are some other interesting things about clams.
And don't forget dragonflies, I think you can trust them, as they're related to daemons (not demons...I hope). -
Re:Scientology?
Would it be possible to hire a spammer to offer xenu pamphlets (or other stuff from www.xenu.net) for sale?
The only real problem I see with this is that the xenu.net people would acquire a reputation as spammers, which would be most unfortunate. (well, ok, so that's not the *only* downside, but it is a major one) -

Re:Religion and Belief
I agree with everything you've said
... I'd also like to add, its not like a paranoid schizophrenic has never started a religion before :) -
I should also point out...
- Residential Schools
- The Taliban, Iran, and Saudi Arabia
- The Sudanese civil war
- Kashmir (both sides)
- The Raid on the Golden Temple at Amritsar
- Air India Flight 182
- Aum Shinrikyo
- "Honour Killings"
- The Inquisition
- Pedophile Priests
- the Church of Scientology, Applied Scholastics, NarcoNon, et al
So tell me now how Ethics comes from religion? Ethics does not mean blindly following your leaders. You must examine the issues for yourself. A secular ethics curriculum gives you the tools to do that. It does not require you to give up your faith.

The truth about Scientology...
All you ever wanted to know about Scientology: Operation Clambake
-
Re:They're confirming the validity of the document
This is also called "the clambake twist", where the church of scientology caught their nuts in a blender when they sued Operation Clambake. By suing, they confirmed that the insane documents were indeed theirs.

Silly question
Publication is not required for copyright. Freedom of access is not required for copyright (c.f. Scientology).
However, publication one form of duplication, so the only way to make sense of your question is:
"Should I be able to sell DRMed copies of Madonna CDs without paying her"?
Somehow I doubt this is what you meant. -
Re:New.Net
Apparently, according to reports from Operation Clambake, Scientologists are made to install software similar to this, it overwrites their tcp/ip stack and is used to filter a HUGE list of words and names. It will produce a whitespace in their place. Some sites are outright blocked. Oh, and here is where I read that.

Re:This Is Worse Than You Think
Quite. There are easily hundreds of Junior Achievement web sites advertising their programs that teach how wonderful consumerism is, and they all link to each other to pool PageRanks. In terms of search engine clogging, they're almost as bad as Scientology's own educational-program front groups, Applied Scholastics and the Association for Better Living and Education-- and with, as far as I can tell, no informational clearing house as substantial as Operation Clambake to counteract their propaganda. Clearly, this is a niche that badly needs to be filled.

Re:IPO=DeathGoogle is punking out. The reason they are doing this is to sidestep underwriters and their fees.
If they go public, there will be greater pressure to avoid "controversial" stories about them that will affect their stock price. If Google had been a publicly traded company back in the day, then the scientology/operation clambake thing might have gone down much differently (and worse for the public).

Now that's what I call "Ad Hominem"
Newdow could be crazier than Michael Jackson for all I care. It doesn't change the fact that this is a highly controversial issue over a textbook example of indoctrination which many people are uncomfortable with, and which is long overdue for a trip to the Supreme Court. By attempting to sidestep the arguement by attacking the arguer you're just making yourself look like a douchebag.

Gerhard Haag
The oracle of the Internet (i.e., Google) indicates that Haag used illegal employment methods in Germany and has been involved in setting up front groups for Scientology. Gee, I wonder if the parking is done not by robots at all but by body thetans.

You are all blind.
I'm late, there are nearly 600 messages, I did not read them all, but if you all think this is just about listening to music, you're truly blind.
Once anyone can a) see inside your computer, b) be "contacted by its software" (as we won't call it "phoning home" anymore), and c) can "reach out" and flip bits inside your computer ("but only for our own software, Mr. Customer, sir!")....do you think you'll avoid:- advertisements when your computer starts up, and shuts down?
- monitoring? (of course, "only in cases deemed necessary due to force of law, or in cases where a business need can be proven")
- active interference? (thou shalt not visit Unapproved Web Sites like this one or this one
And there will be so much more...that even I cannot see. My dreams, though, of late are all dark and unnerving.
This is about nothing less than control of information, which necessarily brings with it all lesser forms of control - mind control (yes, sigh, that's a "trigger phrase", but it's the best term I could use, I think), control of dissemination of information (like....news?), and control of point-to-point communication (email, chat, VoIP, etc).
Believe me now or believe me later.

Compare search results with this toy...
Google vs. MSN Search : Fight!
Microsoft is much too greedy - they won't ever come just close to Google's good reputation for untainted results. Microsoft stealthily places the 'paid results' in a manner so as to camouflage them and blend them in with the 'normal' hits. Then there's the cheezy ads and popups and generally skewed results nowhere near as relevant as Google's.
Try searching for scientology : Google's #2 and #4 hits goes to critics of that criminal organisation. MSN has operation clambake listed only as #6. -
Re:Wanna know the meaning of scientology?
I know it makes for a good conspiracy theory, but there's nothing really nefarious here. Scientology is a relatively new term, so it only exists in the relatively new dictionaries, which want you to pay. To look up any word in the Webster's Millennium(TM) Dictionary of English would cost the same. It's not is if you can't find free information on Scientology.

P.S.
P.S.
I forgot to mention that Scientology was founded by Robert A. Heinlein. Robert A. Heinlein was one of the most famous SCIENCE FICTION AUTHORS ever. That's why the Xenu story sounds like bad science fiction - that's exactly what it is.
Long before he founded Scientology he was quoted as saying "the best way to become rich is to start your own religion".

GooglebombingPlease help make operation clambake the #1 search hit for "scientology" by posting a link like the following from any web page: The way Googlebombing works is that Google also uses the text of links to a page for matching. For example, a search for "dumb motherfucker" used to bring up a page that was quite supportive of President Bush.
If Operation Clambake were the #1 search hit, then it would be the result for the "I'm feeling lucky" button on google.

I used to be a scientologist
I can tell you first hand that this organization is evil. Now the people who are within it are generally well intentioned and sincerely believe that they are a part of something that is working to make the world a better place. This is part of what makes it so evil, it uses its own victims to perpetrate its crimes. Make no mistake, the primary victims of Scientology are its own members who are lied to at every turn and discouraged from seeking out or even looking at independent sources of information on the cult. Those like myself who get wise to the scam and leave are viciously attacked whenever we speak out against the cult and try to warn others of its evil. Of course you could say the same thing about any cult and even Amway for that matter. What makes scientology so bad is that unlike some scams that simply go after your money, scientology goes after your life. Scientology will bankrupt you, separate you from your family and friends, literally make you into a slave, and then cast you aside like yesterday's garbage once they've gotten everything they can out of you.
Scientology is essentially a mind control cult bent on world domination disguised as a religion. The only weapon that works against such an entity is the truth, and is it ever working. Scientology has gone from being something that most people think is strange, if they've ever heard of it to begin with, to something that most people despise or at least distrust. I have the deepest respect and admiration for those who have the courage to fight this organization. If even one person is saved from a life of misery it will have been worth it.
If anyone wants to know more about this organization, there is one place that should be able to answer your questions: Operation Clambake at www.xenu.net -
"Confidential" nature of religious documents?
A religion that has trade secrets is a little frightening. And if you believe even a fraction of what the Xenu people have to tell, it's more of a public service than anything else to expose the nonsense propaganda that this organization spreads.

Re:Do you use another?why? because they still have kazaa lite, anti-scientology and DeCSS links.
So does Google. The second result for scientology is xenu.net. The first result for KaZaA Lite is kazaalitekpp.com. And the first eight results for a decss search are all pages offering the DeCSS code.

There's only one "religion" (and yes, I use that term loosely) that I can think of that uses trade secrets. Remember them?

Is SCO run by Mormons or Scientologists? This is a serious question. The antics that SCO is now pulling sound exactly like what the cult of Scientology www.xenu.net does to attack those it doesn't like.
What I'm specifically talking about is this idea that IBM is covertly directing Redhat, Novell, etc. to go after SCO. The clincher for me was when McBride said that ESR was on IBM's payroll, that sounded like something that Heber Jentzsch might have said.
So, does the S in SCO stand for Scienology or are Mormons and Clams even more similar then I already believed?

Re:New upgrades work well
I've mirrored some normal web content to Freenet . This freesite (only available if running Freenet) is a mirror of http://www.operatingthetan.com, my normal website on Keith Henson v. Scientology.
My major gripe with Freenet to this date is while it is marketed toward "weblike" applications, it often loses content more than a click or so in (note the front page of my freesite there works almost perfectly but if you click in the performance is significantly degraded).
I think its killer app might ultimately be the distribution of large 'splitfiles' with FEC encoding. I don't want to nuke Freenet right now by suggesting downloading huge pirate AVIs, but if you find one and try it, you'll see what I mean.

Re:Don't call us, we'll call youNail on the head. How in the WORLD could he discount literally hundreds of hours of testimony from extremely credible witnesses (military, intelligence, all with nothing to gain accept ridicule), thousands of books, etc...
Counterexample: There are thousands of Scientologists in the world. If you met many of them, they would seem to be reasonable people, credible, honest. Yet would you believe any of the tenets of the crackpot Scientology "religion" they would tell you if you asked? (and if you don't know how lunatic these teachings are, visit here or here).
Most reasonable people would answer no, they would not believe any of it. So just because a few thousand people make these claims does not make it so, regardless of their motives. You don't have to be seeking monetary reward to be gullible (as those thousands of Scientologists so adequately prove).
