I just noticed that the Humpty-Dumpty video has ~375 millions views, that should make you salivate!

I have plenty of ideas to make the views on your own youtube channel skyrocket but you didn't contact me yet. Is it because I am a lady? Ethell says that you are sexist but I hope it isn't true.

Anyway, I will give you a free hint anyway: Dress-up as Humpty in your videos, you shouldn't need that much makeup making this a money saving situation in your own case.

Oh sure, it's PRETTY but there are some odd artifacts:
- the table edges at 0:08+ flicker oddly
- 0:47 the light effect from the source looks hemispherical, but the device itself wouldn't be?
- the coffe cup with saucer at 1:08 has a weird glowy base

These may be explicable, but they seemed odd in a tech demo.

I remember around 2006 (when AMD has just acquired ATI ?) Intel was making a lot of noise of running the graphics directly on the CPU, hence the GPU-less machines was their big prediction.

They were mentioning real-time ray-tracing as the next big thing in graphics and their CPUs were obviously the natural thing to do it. Here is an example from 2007:

AMD and Nvidia immediately pointed out that their GPUs were much better for this job, and then nothing happened. Now I see they bring it up again, let's see if it is more than just vaporware.

You should probably read up on a subject before you open your yap on something you clearly know nothing about. Might want to bone up on reading comprehension too. You know, before you make yourself look stupid.

I said run AND maintain. Those mid-century steam trains where huge. The Union Pacific Big Boy was a 4-8-8-4 and was a 135 feet long. When one of those, or other trains like it where taken off the main line for inspection and maintenance it could easy take 125 men or more to accomplish this task.

Every square inch of the boiler had to be inspected, every nut and bolt on it. All the boiler tubes, every driving rod had to be inspected for cracks. Tires, yes trains had tires, on the driving wheels replaced. There was thousands of parts that had to be inspected. An they only had a few days to get this accomplished.

Don't be an idiot, it's not even close to the level of drunk driving. The system has a reaction time far better than people, and reaction time is one of the major factors of drunk driving. It's not even close. Look at stuff like this, and imagine if that white BMW was a bus or large truck that no sensor could see through. How is it going to avoid hitting her, should it just ram cars next to it and hope that slows it enough? What about the passengers in those other cars? I mean at some point you need to put accountability where it belongs, and when people run out into the street without looking and get their asses hit, they are accountable for that. It does not matter what the nature of the vehicle is which actually hit them, whether it is a Soviet Lada, or a motorcycle, or a bicyclist, or a Ford F-150, or a Volvo with sensors all over it. The person who got hit is still at fault. And if you look at that video and think "well, if that car had magic sensors then that must reduce the braking distance from 120 feet to 10 feet" then you're an idiot.

Autonomous cars still have to follow the laws of physics, and if the car is going the speed limit at 40mph, on a street with no room to swerve, and some idiot who isn't paying attention sprints out into the roadway 15 feet in front of that car, tell me math major, how long does it take the car to get to the person? What is the minimum stopping distance of a 3,000 pound car traveling at 40mph with good tires and a dry road surface? Is it 15 feet? Do autonomous cars get to ignore physics? If they don't, and that person gets hit once the car travels the 15 feet to get to them, whose fault is it?

And while traffic may not be good for residential neighborhoods, it's great for commerce. So why not allow retail uses for the properties along the now-highway? Then the middle-class neighborhood may need less welfare from poor neighborhoods, and the neighborhood may even be able to pass the popsicle test.

There was a time when it was safe and practical to go to the store and buy a gallon of milk without carrying any form of government ID. These days, you pretty much have to drive everywhere, so kids don't get to learn independence, and that's a real shame.

It is entirely possible to produce explosive compounds recreationally, without making them into anything that could be considered a bomb.

A lot of people make fireworks, not always professionally, and fireworks both require explosives and a reasonable level of competence in chemistry. They are also typically not considered bombs, and the same goes for any chemically-powered model rockets even though the chemicals involved are most definitely explosives.

Oh, and then there's dust. That explodes too...

The part that should be questioned is how anybody with a college degree in chemistry did not get taught better than to experiment with explosive chemicals in their own living space. This falls pretty firmly under the heading of things you do in a purpose-built building.

don't confuse wisdom with knowledge, I've met some highly competent from knowledge pov folks in my time but wouldn't trust them not to do borderline retarded things like this. FWIW everyone I know with strong enough chemistry background (much higher than avergae in my circlke of friends and family) simply wouldn't even consider it with compounds with risk factor present; it is predictable or go home kind of thing for those with sense. That is coming from someone who has made stuff with their kids, knows friends who've done similar, and has a father who did the same when I was a young child. There are only two reasons I can see where someone without malice would make this mistake, either ignorance in the field so they didn't know enough to understand risks, or high competence but suffer from severe stupidity being the second.

But if anyone thinks data mining might have helped Trump win the election, it must be evil and frightening. Any data mining efforts to 'network' and oppose are kewl and just. This is as transparently duplicitous as Mayor Swivel-Head from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

I find it ironically hilarious -- without laughing -- that the same political contingent that blanches at the thought of a physical wall at the border of our sovereign country, is so easily duped into characterizing any IP access from the former Soviet bloc as the propaganda of Putin puppets, and not entrepreneurial enterprises for hire founded by young clever people like anywhere else in the connected world. The very same data games data mining Silicon Valley startups use to schmooze money from jargon-hypnotized investors or politically fueled troll farms like ShareBlue, when applied by clever Ukranian teenagers who are waiting for their Putin paycheck like I'm waiting for my Big Oil paycheck... becomes manipulative evil. It's almost even racist.

And when a Russian server farm operator tries to alert the world that Obama's FBI showed zero interest in obtaining logs from his rented servers that (he claimed) would illuminate another hop back to the attackers, you are forced to speculate that his Russian IP address was what the FBI was politically after.

Isn't it strange how this county map is so sharply delineated at the boundaries between populous urban centers and rural areas? Pretty precise to be a map of evil hacker influence, and funny how those (alleged) manipulated voters were targeted so completely and populous counties with their more centralized and automated voting systems, were not. Heck, it looks more like an actual grassroots uprising that won by a few hairs, assisted by the electoral college. A routine upset election, welcome to reality.

Creimy is a typical mountain who poses for postcards, living with his wife Ethel, a tree, between the cities of Rosamund and Gorman, California. The main features on his mountainous face are two large caves, resembling eyes, and a cliff for a jaw, which moves up and down when he talks, puffing up dust and boulders.

Now, CREIMY THE MOUNTAIN, he couldn't believe it! All those postcards he'd posed for, for ALL OF THOSE YEARS, and finally, now, AT LAST, his Royalties!

Royalties! Royalties Royalties! Royalty check is in, honey!

Yes, CREIMY THE MOUNTAIN was RICH! Yes, and his eyeball-caves, they widened in amazement, and his jaw (which was a cliff), well it dropped thirty feet!

A bunch of dust puffed out! Rocks and boulders hacked up, (hack! hack!) crushing 'The LINCOLN'!

I gave him the money He acted real funny He hocked up a rock and It TOTALLED my car!

By two o'clock, when the bars are already closed down, CREIMY had broken 'THE BIG NEWS' to ETHELL. And with dust and boulders everywhere, CREIMY, choked with excitement, announced

Yes, and they WERE going on a vacation! (Oh, and ETHELL, ETHELL, ETHELL, like every little woman, she of course was very excited! She creaked a little bit, and some old birds flew off of her.) CREIMY told ETHELL they were going to Yes! They were going to NEW YORK!

A new youtube video from a dash cam seems to support to theory that truss #11 fractured.

That video claims that the root cause was that a truss beam cracked because the construction firm did not support the ends of the bridge during the move as required by the plans, because there were unexpected obstacles under the end that ultimately triggered the collapse.
