Re:Um, I'm confused
A blind person is never going to able to play an 3rd person shooter (or any shooter), no matter what you do to it, any more than he could play tennis.
Take a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
No idea how this works, but tenis for blind people is a thing.

Oddly enough ...
I'm not really here to plug this, but when it crossed my RSS feed, the timing made it such that I thought users might be interested.
(No, I'm serious. I wasn't going to post it. It just happens to be topical.)
I have a podcast called Tales From SYL Ranch
that I'm re-launching under my own domain starting July 4. I had previously hosted on
//aNONradio// but when I sort of "found my voice," I decided to go pro.In this case, "my voice" was a feature I developed called The Old Fan's Commentary.
You see, I'm an old man. And not a fake old man like Mr. Plinkett, but a real old man like Abe Vigoda. I make commentaries not so much about the films but about fandom of the period. On the July 4 edition, there's a Commentary on Space: 1999
.Again, not particularly trying to plug it. I just happen to be doing it. After Space: 1999 I'm doing Star Wars: The Despecialized Edition. The week after that, The Star Wars Holiday Special. I have a bunch of stuff already in the can.
Just thought I'd mention it.

Re:Wrong tool! Focus on what we need!

I would argue it first needs modules (PDF) modules (2016 CPPcon), something that Pascal solved 29 years ago

That would be a god send if it was standardized across platforms: Win, Linux, OSX. Gee, how did *nix solve this problem?
:-)>control over C++ ABI
Agreed. Except the retarded C++ committee doesn't think this is important. Every C++ compiler can call C code generated by ANY compiler but you MUST only call a
.lib compiled with the SAME compiler. It is utterly stupid that in 2017 there is STILL no support for an Application Binary Interface. -

Twin Tower was dustified
LOL where did the floors go?
building 7 was pulled and you can see 7 floors stacked on the groundBut the 100 floor building only produced 10 floors of materials.
The missing gold, the early clean up run by bush's brother, building 7, the insurance, the missing gold, the dancing isralies, bush allowed saudis to leave immediately when all flights were forbidden.
Most importantly, the earth quake detector didn't detect the mass of the twin towers falling, as if the tower mass disappeared before falling.
This is hard science, you can't fake that.

Re:Not always a bad thing
The number of people who actually upgrade their laptops or open them up can be measured in parts per million.
It's not just end users though, this also affects professional 3rd party repair shops. What could be a relatively simple fix for minor water damage becomes an expensive "send it back to Microsoft to replace" because it's impossible to open the thing.
It's anti-consumer and it's anti-competitive; Having a monopoly on repairs can only be bad for the consumer.

I defy anyone to point out a television show produced by Channel Ten (originally Channel Zero, btw) that anyone would go to the trouble of pirating.
You are the first person ever to call it "Channel Zero." If you lived in Australia then you'd know it was called "Channel Oh", then "TV Oh" before becomming "Channel Ten". https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Re:They'll replace cashiers with Echo Dots
Lots of managers seem to favor hot girls. Actually I suspect that all heterosexual male humans who hire people choose the beautiful girls first. It's just human nature to favor what is beautiful. Of course I think robots can be beautiful too.

Sony and Nintendo can sell consoles because they have a library of 1st party IPs, first class game publishing operations
Speaking of which, have you seen the latest trailer of Super Mario Odyssey?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...Say what you want about their re-usage of characters in other games, yet another version of their popular titles, the genre, whatever.. But could you see anyone else making it? With that polish and difference while still being true to the brand / similar enough for it to be exactly what people expect? Taking "the same" game and releasing it once again but still manage to make it different (the polish helps too, looks nice.)
Wonder how Metroid Prime 4 will look. Sure it would be even better if it could do nice graphics in 4K HDR too.

No one thinks it's OK
Well, no one NOW thinks it's OK.
Obama (and likely Hillary) were just fucking fine with it as long as they thought Hillary was going to win.
Russia's attempts to undermine the US only became RUSSIA HACKED OUR ELECTION AND TRUMP HELPED!!!!!! after Hillary hacked up a hairball of a campaign and lost.
By politicizing Russian meddling in the US election, Democrats not only sound more deranged than rabid Birchers (Whatever happened to "The 1980s called and want their foreign policy back"...), the Democrats themselves are now helping to undermine the US system - by among other things encouraging political violence and assassination attemps on Republicans
It's hard to undermine a democracy more than encouraging actual assassinations of your political opponents.
All because Democrats are a bunch of sore fucking losers.
Wonderful. Putin's Russia set out to undermine the US. And now Democrats are his willing stooges - all because they're sore losers.

The Scalise "shooting" was nother major cover up.
The real story is Scalise was going after human traffickers at the top.
RepSteveScalise:
Fighting Human TraffickingScalise is now at the same hospital that Seth Rich got killed.
Eight good reasons to be suspicious of the shooting in DC
1. First of all, the early reports said the guy used a handgun and a military issued M4 carbine. Now this has morphed to other guns that better match a story line that will lead to the death of Scalise. BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE: EARLY ON IT WAS A MILITARY ISSUE M4 CARBINE. A CONTROLLED ITEM. AND THEY CAN'T CHANGE THEIR STORY WITH SUCH AN OBVIOUS ITEM. PERIOD.
2. Second, RIGHT FROM MINUTE ONE the media was claiming 1 congressman down, 216 to go. And they were rejoicing. But it was impossible to say that, because early on there were multiple people shot and they would not have known how many congressmen were actually shot, let alone that 1 would die, thus leaving the number "216 to go". The only thing that makes sense with this as far as I see it is that they knew for sure ONE would die, and the only way they'd be sure of that is if they knew someone in the hospital was there to finish the job. From there, they'll fabricate any story line that fits.
3. Here we have a patsy, who was living a perfectly normal life, then suddenly wonked out, "lived in his van for two months" with no one knowing where he vanished to, and suddenly he surfaces and does this. That's fishy folks, and fits with "The CIA or some other Rothchild/Soros owned entity successfully drugged this guy, tripped him out, made him malfunction while he was out with the van and then programmed him for this." The fact he did the shooting, as the "first five minute" reports stated: with a military issued M4 carbine, would prove he was provided his weapons by someone beyond the ordinary. Who would that be? You guess.
4. The guy was an awful shot. From this perspective it could not have gone better. With the guns this guy had, hillbilly joe or even six pack bob who might have a gun or two of that type would have accomplished 25 head shots with 25 bullets fired. All shots were within 50 yards. That's too easy of a shot for anyone who knew anything about guns at all to miss even once, with a gun as good as even the worst assault rifle, including the SKS. How could you get such an awful shot? Answer: WITH A PROGRAMMED PATSY who knew nothing about guns, that you suddenly abducted and mind wiped for the job. That sure fits "vanished with the van for two months, " only to suddenly surface with this.
5. Scalise showed up at the hospital in fair condition. This was reported so widely that even Politico reported that he was in good spirits and called his wife before the surgery. Suddenly, after the surgery, he skipped right over serious condition straight to critical condition and the hospital started lying, saying he was in shock and delerious and in critical condition before he went into surgery even after liberal crap outlets like Politico reported he was fine. This is the biggest key indicator that he was sent to a particular hospital to die. They need their cover story for his death, and can't say he was cheerful when he went into surgery after they intentionally botched it. Calling the wife in a cheerful mood simply won't do, even if the worst liberal rags reported that.
6. Very suspicious: Now, the media is trying to scramble the story line about the gun used, to try to explain the details on the ground. They are sort of leaning towards the SKS, which might have a solid bullet deflect off the hip and cause serious internal injury, at the same time it explained why he was such an awful shot. But the SKS is not that bad, inside of 100 yards it is accurate enough to not make a difference and all shots were close. And they botched it early on by saying it was an M4 carbine. So the SKS story line is a blunder.
7. Ok, so let's say somehow our patsy got ahold of a NOT military issued

Re:except they make the rules
By the way, I agree, there is very little in the way of having an actual free society somewhere in the world today, that's why we are not a civilized people. We have tried and are still trying here and there. USA was a fine attempt, Singapore is an attempt, Switzerland, hell, China is an attempt. It's an attempt but it is not what I really am talking about.
But I do have some reading material that I recommend, Friedrich Hayek and nearly any of his books, try The Road to Serfdom. You can find it here. Mises.org is a good resource if you are interested in history not as it is officially laid out but something different for a change. Peter Schiff is one of two sons of Irwin Schiff, who died a political prisoner in USA a couple of years back, Irwin provided very well thought out reading material of his own, I mean he even put together a kids book on the subject.
There is plenty to think about, don't assume that what you are seeing around you is what should be or what could be or some finalized version of what will be.

Re: Hello Jim Sterling!
I didn't care for it at first -- I really miss the old theme "Born Depressed" as the lyrics are crystal clear and fit perfectly. Over time the new song did grow on me though and it's a OK choice.
100% agree what the viewer is just "over-loaded" from the get go -- by the time your brain gets "in sync" with the audio and visuals it is all over. I agree that the lyrics are really hard to get into as well.
I also found that the new animation style grew on me -- I didn't at first. BUT:
1. What kills it for me is that I just wish there was a ~2 second "build up" to pull the viewer along, instead of shooting off leaving them behind and they go scratching their heads "Uh, WTF just happened?"
2. There is just TOO much of it to follow along, you barely get time to digest the last part before you're floored with new stuff. "WAIT? WHAT was that? That looked kind of neat." I guess we're in the age of the "ADHD Intros" -- where there is so much shit going on that you are forced to watch multiple times to get it all. I blame Hulk (2003) for starting this crappy hyper sensory overload trend that has infected everything.
I guess what I'ms saying is that I really wish the timing of the animation was slowed down by ~40% to make it easier to follow along. I guess they didn't want to drag the new intro. out TOO long butI believe there is a better balance to be struck somewhere in the middle.
With some more attention paid to pacing I think the new intro could work. Right now it just seems to be a rush job. Correct me if I'm wrong but I also agree with the jist of what you are also saying: "Oh Look! Here's some After Effects effects! SHINEY!"
Still, it's "Jim Fucking Sterling, Son" and thankfully the intro. isn't why we are there.
:-)TL:DR; Pacing too fast, Flashy but lacks substance, Lyrics too hard to make out
P.S.
Oh Wow -- looks like others were same the same thing and they started making some changes!!The latest intro is MUCH better. Compare:

Re:False equivalency
Most of mine have never killed anything
Yeah I too buy mine just so I can sit there and stroke them erotically.
I don't get this hoplo-erotic fascination that so many non-gunowners seem to have. I don't know anyone who actually owns guns that sees them in anything like that twisted way. They're fine pieces of machinery, some of them are works of art, many of them have sentimental value, they are tools for specific purposes... there are a lot of ways in which they're valued, some deeply emotional, but none of them remotely sexual.
For example, my favorite rifle is a fine machine, a work of art and has deep sentimental value, as well as being an excellent tool for killing big game. It's a 7mm Remington Magnum (an excellent caliber for elk, moose, bear; a little heavy for mule deer, but not too bad) that was made by my father in law. It started life as an Argentine Mauser M98 which my dad in law rechambered to 7mm. He tuned and polished the action and trigger to an incredible degree of smoothness and accuracy, and blued and polished the barrel and receiver to a beautiful high gloss. Then he handcrafted and fitted a stock of elegant birdseye maple, with polished ebony forearm and grip caps. He also elaborately hand-tooled the leather sling. The result is a breathtaking work of art (the photo doesn't do it justice) and also an incredibly smooth and accurate weapon... and it's the best memento I have of my father in law, a great man who I learned to love and appreciate deeply over the course of the almost 30 years I've known my wife. I also treasure his slide rule, but the rifle has so much more of him invested into it.
In contrast, my daily carry gun is just a tool, with no more emotion connected to it than my keys or my wallet, or my phone. Actually, I'm probably more attached to my phone. I like the gun because it's small and easily-concealable, and because it's surprisingly accurate in spite of its extremely short barrel. I can consistently hit a two-inch square from 25 feet; not anything I'd want to use in a target competition, but more than adequate for the purpose.
Various other guns have various meanings; there's my first gun, a single-shot
.22LR rifle that I got when I was 12 and which I've used to teach all of my kids to shoot. My shotgun has lots of fond memories associated with it, of hunting birds with my sons, and my old bird dog (who died a couple of years ago). My old carry gun has some, because it was the gun I used to learn to shoot handguns well, and it was the one I used at at a pistol marksmanship course that I took with my dad... the first time I've ever out-shot him, an event that really brought home that he's getting old.Actually, all of the emotional attachment I have to various guns is really just imprinted emotion from family interaction, and nothing remotely sexual in any of it (maybe if my wife were interested in guns...). Cars, on the other hand, some things have happened in various vehicles I've owned that give my thoughts about them some erotic overtones.
I'll be shocked if you actually read past the first sentence of this post, though. You're not interested in learning about reality that contradicts your assumptions.

Did the US ~leak~ the plans to Russia?
"Another question, if the maneuver was deliberate, is whether the US government informed Russia or other international partners on the space station. The Russian segment of the station controls the thrusters that generally are used to maneuver the station away from orbital debris, so such coordination might seem prudent." Re:Sanders supporting liberal socalist
With Trump it isn't quite so obvious how to interpret those comments. I guarantee you pretty much every president says stuff like this when they think it won't leak to the public. Lyndon B Johnson used to talk about his dick all the time, for example, which was even more taboo back then, or that time when W flipped off the camera.
But given Trump has no filter, there's basically no difference between public and private sentences. For all of Trump's faults (and he has way too many) you do have to admit in his case, that we finally have a president that doesn't lie for once. He just says whatever the hell he thinks. Basically think of his thoughts as being like the teleprompter for Ron Burgundy.
