Re:You lost me at "full gold"
I assume you mean a currency backed by gold. A modern economy can't do that. There isn't enough gold to back the currency needed for us to keep track of all the transactions we're doing.
- 100% *wrong*. Today gold is money in a much more convenient way than ever before in the history of human existence.
It is government propaganda and brainwashing that created the ignorant believes that you and the vast majority of you are spewing here.
Communism doesn't work and will never work because it has to use force, that's the only reason it cannot work - it must use force to take from some and to deliver to many.

Re:Read some Engels
Regardless, the model here relies on communal ownership of property. It's fine to do a mathematical proof and say that "X system is better", but something that never changes is that communal ownership of property ends up in disrepair, assuming it even gets built to begin with.
If you want examples of this, look at how former capitalist regions ended up after the takeover of the Iron Curtain. Urban decay doesn't even begin to describe it. And then look what happened to it after the fall of the Iron Curtain -- night and day difference. Another example that persists to this day is Indian reservation in the US. Nobody can actually own any property there, not even the natives. This is why it's so common to see trailers and no land improvement whatsoever. Think about it: Why would you invest time, money, and other resources to improve the property you live on if somebody can just move you out of it at the drop of a hat?
Likewise, they talk as if communism would increase the GDP, but we've only ever seen the opposite happen. As soon as you have a communist revolution (which always ends up being violent, by the way, contrast to conversions away from communism more often being peaceful than not, which alone should tell you a lot about it) you start with a GDP no worse or better than capitalism, but soon people stop giving a shit about putting work and effort into something that, at the end of the day, gives them nothing to show for it, and your GDP turns to shit. It has happened with every commune that ever existed, from the Icarians (read about them if you haven't, and how the commune ended is very telling) to the Russians. In the end, the only people who benefit and have something to show for it are the political leadership.
In fact that reminds me of this one episode of Ren and Stimpy:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
In communism, the people are expected to be like how Stimpy ended up, striving for nothing more than the happiness of their fellow man at their own expense. And you know what? Fuck that. I don't care what the mathematical proof says, I'm not doing that shit.

Well, yeah, if you're looking for what is actually a lesser evil.
He may or may not be an actual libertarian, but he got himself on the ballot in all 50 states. The anti Trump people can make good use of that without sacrificing their character by voting for Clinton. And if he gets enough votes, they can't lock the party out of future debates. I mean, they can, but suddenly changing the rules would be a pretty bad PR move.
Let's hope he starts raising his voice once the conventions are finished and the two bettas start going after each other, and then like SPECTRE, he strikes.

Cows are not strictly herbivorous.
They'll munch on bones of other animals when they find them.
They need all the calcium they can get as they are pumping it out through milk.Just like the way they'll go for some chicken nuggets if they are low on other nutrients such as phosphorus or iron.

Original gummy fingerprint tests beat most scanner
The original presentation on beating fingerprint sensors with ordinary laser printer printed copies of fingerprinters, laid on gelatin, published in 2002, is available at:
http://web.mit.edu/6.857/OldSt...
It's quite a good presentation, and was verified by MythBusters in 2011.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
Mythbusters even demonstrated that simply printing a fingerprint on paper, and _licking the paper_, created a fake fingerprint good enough to defeat most sensors. There's little reason to think that the commercial fingerprint sensors have gotten any better, though I'd welcome a modern retest with modern cell phone and computer keyboard based sensors.
Basically, the "fuzziness" of fingerprint sensors which allows to identify real fingers with real sensors is enough "fuziiness" to allow them to be beaten with even casually made fake fingerprints. I've seen no good evidence that the necessarysensor and computational "fuzziness" has ever been worked around with even the most expensive modern sensors: I'd welcome any evidence with honestly done tests showing otherwise.

Re: What is the appeal of these things?
Did you watch the keynote? The bulk of the watchOS 3 enhancements are related to improving the wheelchair user's experience with the Watch.
You don't spend that much time advertising to such a niche target unless they're the only ones buying the Watch.
This much time?!? You sir are both a liar and an idiot.
Yes, I did watch the Keynote. I didn't think they spent that much time on the Handicapped application, so I went back and looked. In fact, the WatchOS "demo" started at 8:27 and ended at 27:37. The Handicapped part started at 21:47 and ended at 23:42. So, out of TWENTY minutes of WatchOS demo, the handicapped portion was a "whopping" TWO minutes.
So, you are obviously full of shit. And a liar. Period. -
You can't ban the idea
I have never heard of Kickass Torrent in the past. Ever. Now I will be very curious just to see on what have they got.
Now, this attempt to arrest an individual who is hosting a server which has url information reminds me very much of recent LEO work in Orlando Disney park, after a 2 year old was snatched by the alligators.
It was surprising to see when two days after the accident the local police reported that they, the police officers, have "identified" the "guilty" alligator and "put him down". http://www.people.com/article/...
You can't make this shit up.
At some point then it dawns that all this fuss was about PD overtime.
Same principles apply in KickAssTorrent website: police force imitate investigative work, they convince the judge that "data is in the computer" (remember the scene from Zoolander - The files is in the computer https://www.youtube.com/watch?... ),they imitate the value delivered, eventually they identify the guilty server (alligator) and take him down.
The winners: police force getting a lot of overtime pay on a work which is not really dangerous nor this is a law enforcement.

Slashdot should condone piracy
Disclaimer: Slashdot doesn't condone piracy.
Why not? Everyone should condone "piracy." Piracy enriches our lives and our culture. Copying brings us more of the things we love. The only thing that shouldn't be condoned is using smear words like "piracy" to refer to a basic decent act of human behavior.

Re:Most "automation" isn't, just like this.
I didn't post my links to be a flamer: the topic, as you indicate, is truly fascinating.
It was first brought to my attention by a Swedish sociologist, Hans Rosling, with his presentation here but even better is this one.
In the second video he shows trends in infant mortality and it is a fascinating watch. The most alarming statistic is that while worldwide infant mortality trends against GDP, the USA is a clear outlier.
You are right, why this is the case is difficult to understand.

Re:Amazon is awesome for knockoffs!
Don't forget that the Clinton's belong to a "whites only" country club for years and that Bill Clinton loves the Confederate flag. He even used it as part of his campaign logo for governor I believe.
Well, to be fair, it is mostly people up north that get their panties all in a wad over the confederate battle flag.
Most folks in the south don't think it is the horrible symbol of racial bigotry, etc.....it is just a symbol of the south.
Hell, I associate it with going to Lynyrd Skynyrd concerts (their backdrop) and on bumper stickers here mostly, not as something against black, but something that is for the south for southern pride.
It's only been in the past 3 -4 years that it has even been raised as an issue and it is mostly by folks up north it seems. No one here really sees it as a problem or anything as horrible as people here recently have been trying to make it...
I do sometimes long for the days before political correctness took the fun out of anything, and tries to demonize just about anything it can....

Re: Fake
Others have covered that in order for NASA to fake the conspiracy they also had to play along and launch rockets anyway but to address your specific points, this commercial film maker lays out why faking the film wasn't likely possible. He does address other points like how conspiracy nuts like you don't really understand photography. To summarize, no one had the technology to "fake" a 143 minute live broadcast like that. These days with CGI, it's possible but at the time of the moon landing, 35mm film was the standard, not video like VHS. Faking it would have been extremely expensive with implausible edge film and computer technology not existing at the time.
OR
NASA had this secret fabulous film/computer technology developed decades before anyone else. Yet at the same time used primitive analog computers.
