Joss Whedon to Write/Direct Wonder Woman

bigbear writes "'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Firefly' creator Joss Whedon has signed on to write and direct the big screen adaptation of the DC Comics character Wonder Woman.       Noooo, she is too short and wimpy looking. I don't know if she can act, but Lucy Lawless (Xena) might be a good choice; at least she looks the part. Then again if the outfit is skimpy enough maybe the acting part is optional.

      Lynda Carter is a bitch. I knew a guy that used to deliver pizza to her neighborhood. She handed out autographed pictures as TIPS. how full of yourself do you have to be...

      Point taken, but her autographs are going for about $8.95 on ebay. Not a bad tip for a pizzaman. And I ought to know (see handle). :)

    Sorry, but politial correctness and the overwhelming concern for decency these days will force them to redesign her skimpy suit, and make it into a business power suit. It will still be red white and blue though.

      Political Correctness... like the mentality that drives sales of Maxim, Playboy, and Dead or Alive: Extreme Beach Volleyball. I don't think we need to worry about her losing the skimpy suit, since the only people complaining about "decency in entertainment" are the conservatives who complain about politcal correctness.

      On the good side, though, it's not being directed by Uwe Boll. So, uh... thumbs up on that one.

      I realize that you're joking, but lets talk about this for a moment.

      Movies have changed. And not always for the better. Remember the horror/slasher and sex-comedy movies of the 80s?

      You had boobies and bush EVERYWHERE! Porky's? Yes! Porky's 2? Yes. The various Friday the 13ths? Yes! The Nightmare on Elm Street series? Yes! The police academy series? Yes!

      We had a gratuitous boobie genre. Stewardess School. Up The Creek. Hardbodies. Valley Girl. The Last American Virgin. Bachelor Party. The list goes on and on.

      Where have our boobies gone? The best boobie scene in a recent hollywood movie was the topless sunbathing in Swordfish.

      I couldn't tell you the last time I saw bush in a hollywood movie. And it's damned unfair!

    ...is just terribly dated no matter how you look at it.

    Therefore, to compensate for that, the outfit needs to be a lot skimpier. Enough skin and we won't notice the datedness.

    Joss has a real talent for writing amazing scripts and making characters memorable. Buffy was amazing, so was Angel, and the little bit I have seen of Firefly, I liked. Characters like Willow, Spike, Darla, Drusilla will live on forever, great writing is key, and Joss is a master. I have faith in Joss to make this a good movie, safe to say, way better than Catwoman

    That was Linda Carter, and she was such a sweet little goody-two-shoes I'm still amazed she didn't end up with diabetes. (Not her fault, but the scripts and direction. The only thing about her that wasn't wasted in the role was her good looks.)

      WW was greek.

      Being on an island for thousands of years would tend to make her be speaking a new language. (I remember at one point the queen called Steve Trevor a 'her' and then corrected herself. I was thinking 'Why do they even have a word for 'him'?)

      I think it's a bit silly to assume a greek accent now matches a greek accent two and a half millennium ago, much less that an island cut off for that long would match the accent back then. Grand total, that's 5000 years of change!

      But obviously they have contact with the outside world, at least in the TV canon. For example, they have a game with deflecting bullets and they're using an old revolver for that. If they truly had been cut off from the outside world, they wouldn't even know what a bullet was, and certainly wouldn't possess a gun that looked like it was from the 1860s.

      Also, WW's costume is delibrately made of the US flag colors. Although I guess they could have gotten that information from Steve.

      (I'm ignoring the invisible plane, because I'm assuming that's magical.)

    So being *dead* now just counts as a disability?

    First of all, the proper term for refering to the recently departeted is not 'death', it's "pre-decompisitionary". And secondly, if there is a better catagory for disabled then pre-decopisitionary, I've never seen it.

    And I don't see any major challenges for exhuming the grave of Reeves so he can play super-man as a pre-decompisitionary differenlty abled character. We have some pretty good acting coaches to help out.
