  1. Watermarking in Pictures on Watermarking to Replace DRM? · · Score: 1

From what I can see watermarking audio would have the same problems as watermarking pictures. The watermarks you don't see can be easily corrupted to the point of being useless simply by saving the image in a different format, let's say from jpg to png then resave it again from png to jpg. There's also the watermark you can see, like a small logo, those are really easy to deal with as well. But audio files can contain a ton more data then pictures and would make hidding stuff in it a bit easier, but again save it in another format and boom done and dead. That's just my simple 2 cent thought on the subject.

  2. lol on Bad Movie Physics Hurt Scientific Understanding · · Score: 1

"Some people really do believe a bus traveling 70 mph can clear a 50-foot gap in a freeway, as depicted in the movie Speed." Has any one considered that maybe someone who believes that isn't bright enough to be a student at any school, maybe even too dumb to work at McDonalds. That should be a question in all drivers exam. Anyone who says, yep it's possible is banned from ever driving anything other then a tricycle :)

Sounds like a great opportunity for game modders to go into business for themselves and make a nice pile of cash.

  5. RIAA on Case of the Great Hot-Site Swap · · Score: 1

So does this mean that if one University doesn't give up information to the RIAA, then the RIAA could just try to get it from the "backups" from another University ? Not that I would ever suggest that the RIAA would ever do such a thing.

  6. Should Hold A Raffle on Indiana University Dumps Google for ChaCha · · Score: 1

Clearly there is a conflict of interest to just mention one of the problems with this move. So how long will Michael McRobbie remain IU president. We should hold a raffle, or maybe a contest I bet he's a goner by November of this year :)

  7. Hope it does poorly on Former Spammer Reveals Secrets in New Book · · Score: 1

I hope his book does poorly. Today I'm not so mad at spammers anymore as I am at those who respond to spam. Those are the people who need to be taken outside and shot. With them gone spammers have no more revenue.

  8. Why stop there on Bill Gates Should Buy Your Buffer Overruns · · Score: 1

Following the authors logic why stop there. Let's pay bank robbers to not rob banks, pay thieves to not steal cars etc. That's just my 2 cents, my pay to not steal this article :)

Microsoft does a great job of following what others are already doing. But my bit question is how am I going to reboot this new system when I get the BSOD :p Microsoft needs a new saying. Innovation, nah that requires out of the box thinking :)

  10. Concerned on Swedish Police to Block Pirate Bay · · Score: 3, Insightful

It greatly concerns me that Swedish authorities use protection intended to help protect children (because let's face it with child pornography there has to be a child who is victimized) for the agenda of corporations. I understand the need to stop piracy, but at the cost of making a joke out of child pornography protection is just not the way to go about it. I also think it shows to what level Swedish authorities are willing to degrade themselves to and at least in my eyes it sounds more like corruption and a distaine of law by Swedish police. Just my 2 cents plus taxes.

  12. Invested Commitment on iPod Owners Not As Loyal To Brand As Mac Owners · · Score: 1

I don't remember where I read this but the author made a really good point. The article was about drm and security. But he noted that iPod users might not switch to other mp3 players because they have invested lots of money into their iPod that they would loose. You buy an iPod then you buy throughout the years or whatever $200 of music that has iTunes drm which only works with iPods. If I was in this situation I wouldn't want to switch either. Now the question is how many iPod users have an invested interest to not switch ?

  15. Innovating on Google.org, a For-Profit Charity · · Score: 4, Interesting

I don't always agree with Google tactics but at least they are innovative. Certainly changing the internet, computers and now looks like cars and beyond. Microsoft which doesn't innovate just buys or steals will have a hard time competing with such a company. Since I don't see Google being any more evil then Microsoft, I have to cheer to Google since like I said at least they are innovating :) Yeah ok I did a crappy job of explaining the message I'm trying to get through.

  16. The Evolution of Human Stupidity on When Is a Con Not a Con? · · Score: 1

Ah no, because i can seperate reality from fantasy, sometimes lol I just finished playing Need for Speed online and during the game I lost control of my car and crashed into another online player's car. I sure hope my reality car insurance doesn't drop me after that incident. Attempting to bring the fantasy worlds of video games into reality is a very dangerous thing to do. Governments/Law makers will not just bring one aspect of a game and make it a crime, they will bring everything from a game that they wish and make it a crime. The result is no more video games since I can't think of one video game at the moment that wouldn't be breaking some kind of law, and I can't imagine where we will find all the prison space for the games.

  17. Results on Privacy Web Browser 'Browzar' Branded Adware · · Score: 1

Yeah they fail on removing files. I ran browzar (silver addition) in sandboxie http://www.sandboxie.com/ and it left behind 34 files, 16 folders for a total 1.72mb of stuff that they claim shouldn't be there. You can view what was left behind here (zipped) http://rapidshare.de/files/31863264/Browzar_Stuff_ Left_Behind.zip When I ran browzar all I did was enter fast car in the search bar at the top right, after going through 4 pages or so called search results all I saw was 40 results of sponsors. Yeah sounds like adware to me. Then then went to google.ca and entered fast car, better. Oh well next :)
