Maybe somebody without Ghost? If you don't have something similar to Ghost, then you sure as hell don't fire someone with something illegal on the HDD. That is one certain way to open yourself (as a company) up to lawsuits. If you cannot prove what was on the laptop when you gave it to him, the firing surely is on shaky grounds.

Good to know they researched heavily before firing him. At my company when re-deploying hardware like a laptop it is standard to wipe it completely and load a ghosted image. Who WOULDN'T do at least as much?

Sorry, that is not the case. People are morons for getting into subprime troubles, but they are not lied to when they sign the papers. Truth-in-lending laws require the total cost of the mortgage to be put right on the front page (the page with those four boxes) very clearly.

Comcast spamming the airwaves with "Unlimited! Always-on internets!!!" is not the same thing. It is very clear they are misleading their customers. I should be limited by either my speed or a total cap, but not both...and NOT measured via some imaginary total to which I can not be made privy.

I agree, it is difficult to keep a positive attitude and think you are someone who can "make a difference" or be successful when the industry continues to beat you down. I lumped older workers, probably unfairly, in this paradigm. In fairness to my original post though, I did qualify it with those people "around me".

It makes it easier for me to succeed. Though I did just turn 30, not as much a youngster anymore. I think the biggest reason 20-er's succeed is they do not understand the world wants them to fail (so they don't). Older folks are so much more cynical that they don't step out of the comfort zone.

"Would you buy a Metallica online album despite their former views?" Yes. I support people learning from their mistakes and willing to correct them.

I'm more in this boat, with another caveat that if THIS succeeds there will be many more bands who may try the same.

I enjoy all their old stuff, and it's always nice to be able to get the new stuff for free and see if any of the songs are good (every release has had 1-2 songs I consider enjoyable, except for St. Anger and its snare drums.)

Lastly, people need to get over the butt-hurt crying of "they need to apologize to me before I do anything". Get over it, rock stars have ALWAYS been about the max dollar, and by being used as the RIAA's puppets you can see exactly how that plays out.

I've been a fan forever of them, and of course I agree they sold out at Black, replacing Flemming Rasmussen with Bob Rock. Cliff dying didn't help the situation, Justice... was released without him, but I think his sprit was still fresh in the album, as Jason certainly didn't get to help write any of it.
