I got my 1st computer, an Atari 800XL from my grandmother in Germany as a First Communion present. When I got bored of playing Donkey Kong, I took a look at the manual, wrote the first example, and ran it. I was so amazed, that I started tweaking the numbers in the code and saw which effect they had. That's when I discovered the power XD

I'm not trying to be rude, but do people actually buy an Xbox and not have a Gold membership? It equates to something like $5 per month for access to demos, weekly arcade games, an indie game market, promo videos, media streaming, a stable staging environment for multiplayer gaming across games, etc. Not to burst your bubble, but you'll probably need a Gold membership to use the IE browser anyways. Hopefully they launch Skype soon. That's my only real complaint.

For me the key point is why do I have to pay for something that is free? I mean, I can watch youtube without restrictions on my Windows PC but I have to pay extra to do the same on the 360. And I don't have a gold account because I'm not into online gaming, but I'd like to watch youtube in my living room tv.

I think that a person's lifetime + some years is simply too much time. Specially when it comes to software. Think of it, there are still people alive from almost the very first years of computing, imagine 70 years from now... There would be no one able to recover any history of computing, as it's difficult today to dump tapes, roms, disks. In 70 years from now almost nobody will remember how the origins of computing looked like. In this case, copyright is destroying culture.

I started with the Atari 800XL/ Amstrad CPC basic and I think visual basic it's way too complicated because it uses many things of windows that can obscure the learning process. That said, if we learned with older machines, why not give a try at some emulators and let him start doing things in pretty plain old basic? You can find most basic manuals for old computers quite easily and he won't be frustrated if a dll is not found or if he cannot guess why a weird event does not happen.

I agree with you in that we should be doing more exercise and not eating too much, but if you take a look to the ingredients of almost any food, they all have added sugar. Meat has sugar, Bread has sugar, things that already have sugar have several kinds of sugar in large quantities.... That makes our food today pretty more energetic, so the same quantity of food delivers more energy to the body that is stored as fat. And you cannot spend unlimited hours doing exercise, so there's a problem with the amount of sugar in our food.

They cannot close our eyes, our ears or our brain, so there would be always a way to copy or distribute copyrighted content. So, if they don't want their content to be copied, they should not take it to the public light, it's quite simple. Restricting what people can use (or see, or hear, etc) is not a good path. Nothing can replace education. Nothing. By restricting people instead of showing them how to do things and the risks of doing it, people is becoming more and more vulnerable. No wonder (though it's not the way) that the situation becomes a battlefield. When stressed, people forget that we are only people.
