It depends on length and the character set. Many cracking programs, brute force cracks, will iterate through all possible combinations of a character set up to a certain length. This lets the program find simpler passwords faster.
With just alphabetic characters and a 6 character length you have about 26^6 or about 308 million possibilities
With alphanumeric characters and a 6 character length you have about 36^6 or about 2.1 billion possibilities
Extending to common non-alphanumeric characters (using shift+#) adds another 10, 46^6 or 9.4 billion possibilities
By comparison, changing the length of the previous examples:
If anything, a thriving small rodent population could serve as a food source for the birds. But, one tiny rodent does not hint at a larger population of mammals. Gotta love slippery slope sensationalism.
Actually, it is. It contains Caffeine, Theobromine, and other chemicals, that with the correct dose can kill you. Theobromine is actually responsible for the death of dogs and cats that have consumed too much chocolate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theobromine
I was going to say that, at least with this type of display, you won't get any idiots chucking their Wii controllers at their 60" plasmas... But then I thought that, if you're stupid enough to do that, you'll be stupid enough to swing the nun chuck around and smack the crap out of your face and the glasses.
Multi-terabyte disks have been in development for years. Initially, DARPA funded the development of a format similar to HVD. There have been many companies working on it since then. One company, I can't recall the name at the moment, used disks made of some sort of special polymer to record the holographic data to achieve an absurd amount of storage on a disk.
Optware uses similar materials to this company for their HVDs.
As for the use of DVD materials in making high capacity discs, I've been reading about multi-layered disc technology for years. Maybe they'll finally do something with it now.
While he may not have stated that his kids were uploading music, it is most likely so. Looking at the options available for downloading music there are few that don't automatically share what you've downloaded. With the complete destruction of most music file hosting websites by about 2000/2001, torrents and p2p networks are the only popular options left. While Usenet may be fairly popular among the slashdot crowd, I've yet to run into someone that uses it even among my colleagues at work. (Most of them use torrents)
Basically, unless his kids were downloading via Usenet they are more than likely guilty of "uploading" or sharing music online.

From TFA:Gingrich said he will not decide whether he is running for President until September 2007.I hope he does, just so I can see him fail miserably. His lack of respect for constitutional rights and his outlandish ideas of engaging Syria and Iran as a means of finding "success" are likely to scare all but the most conservative voters.
You're missing the point, the Wii might not able to display games at higher than 480i, but the ATI graphics chip in the Wii is more than capable of displaying a desktop at 720p or 1080i. Shouldn't take more than a quick hack from nintendo to make it possible.
No matter how much of a "jackass" so many of the posters claim this guy is, it doesn't justify the police's actions.
A few years ago I watched 5 police officers restrain a friend of mine who had been using PCP (who is 6'2", 220, and extremely strong to begin with), without any use of a taser or gun. If 5 police officers can restrain my friend on PCP, those 3-4 UCPD officers can restrain that little guy without the use of anything other than a little elbow grease.
Even if he was inciting a riot or disobeying their commands, he could have been disabled, handcuffed, and lugged out to the cruiser without the use of the taser, by a single cop.
I hope this guy gets a fat check out of this crap.

By comparison, changing the length of the previous examples:
Alpha: 26^7 = 8 billion
Alphanumeric: 36^7 = 78 billion
Extended with non-alphanumeric: 435 billion
So "crackability" as you dub it, is influenced heavily by the length of the password, but it is also greatly influenced by the character set used.
As for whether "adklfjsldfjsdf" is harder to crack than "adklf123dfjsdf".
"adklfjsldfjsdf" is 15 in length and alpha characters only (26^15)
"adklf123dfjsdf" is 15 in length and alphanumeric (36^15)
1,677,259,342,285,725,925,376 is less than 221,073,919,720,733,357,899,776
So the alphanumeric one is definitely more secure.

I'd like to hear the dialog in game, wonder if it's anything like this:

Sorry, I'll make sure to include a formal bibliography with all of my posts in the future.

Angelina Jolie was seen in Los Angeles today, closely watching her newly adopted filament of gas, a refuge of the recent solar tsunami.
Seeing as they used the number "2", wouldn't it be that they don't understand base 3?
Because that's the most complicated part of the drive.
What is this? Economic reparations?

Yes. The most destructive force in the universe.
Nothing can escape it, not even light.

Cable and DSL cost about the same kbps/dollar wise in San Diego.
At higher speeds, cable is actually a much better deal.
