Nevermind that even in some of the most highly populated areas in the United States, you still can't get a broadband line at speeds anywhere near what is mentioned in the article.
Even if you're lucky enough to be in areas that Verizon sells Fios in(a very small area), to get speed close to 25-100mbps you have to pay $180 a month (for 30mbps/5mbps), which is absolutely ridiculous.
I'm not defending Diebold, as I'm sure they pitched these machines as secure to the election officials. But ScentCone is also correct that the blame does not fall wholly on Diebold, but on the officials that selected them, and by extension the voters that elected the officials.
Most people aren't aware that in California the voting system is handled by the California Secretary of State Bruce McPherson. I wish the media would point out who is in charge of voting systems for all the mindless cows out there. While he has made efforts to validate the systems, including alot of correspondence with Diebold, his decision to just continue using these machines despite all the red flags is bothersome.
... that Wikipedia and the Library of Alexandria would be compared so much. Wikipedia may be a great encyclopaedic reference, but the near compelte lack of literature on the site means it doesn't begin to compare. A more accurate comparison would just be the Internet with the Library of Alexandria, where the Internet is a far more extensive resource. Just look at the services offered by universities, governments, Google, Wikipedia, etc.
A researcher looking back would be able to find the actual work among sites like Google Books, and then find cultural context for the period on Wikipedia.
Ok, ok, but in all seriousness: if this will allow for particle accelerator research in a compact and affordable package, what would a particle accelerator, built on the scale of CERN but with this technology, be able to do?
We're dicks! We're reckless, arrogant, stupid dicks. And the Film Actors Guild are pussies. And Kim Jong Il is an asshole. Pussies don't like dicks, because pussies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes: assholes that just want to shit on everything. Pussies may think they can deal with assholes their way. But the only thing that can fuck an asshole is a dick, with some balls. The problem with dicks is: they fuck too much or fuck when it isn't appropriate - and it takes a pussy to show them that. But sometimes, pussies can be so full of shit that they become assholes themselves... because pussies are an inch and half away from ass holes. I don't know much about this crazy, crazy world, but I do know this: If you don't let us fuck this asshole, we're going to have our dicks and pussies all covered in shit!
Legislation that violates constitutional rights is void. Allowing privately owned companies to infiltrate my property is a blatant violation of my constitutional rights. Just look at all the cases that go before the Supreme Court every year about whether this or that law is constitutional. Also note the Supreme Court barring enforcement of the controversial Child Online Protection Act (COPA), pending their decision on it's legality/constitutionality.
I have enough problems with current hard drives (albeit cheap and old ones) dying when some dimwit in my office kicks the computer underneath the desk as he's trying to lean back. I can only imagine how fragile these drives will be compared to current technology.
Personally I'd like to see a trojan installed that privately monitors the results for tampering, catching manipulation of votes, with sufficient evidence for proof, at any level of the election process.
The reporter is actually Manbearpig.

Privacy is the restriction of information for your personal benefit. A necessity in any healthy, non-utopian government.

To quote the russian guy in Armageddon:
"Russian parts, American parts, all made in China!"
Hmm, perhaps something more painful then, like Reptile's Acid Spit fatality.

Rip his heart out, still beating, like Kano.

Bush would be out of office. Not because the Democratic challenger shot him in the duel, but because Cheney did.

LORE! LOL
But, I want to see how deep the rabbit hole goes!
Because while it's possible, it becomes quite difficult over larger and larger distances.
Petri dishes strewn all over, cell cultures growing in mountain dew cans from last month...
Yes, and those meteors falling down from the sky? That's just god kicking sand in our faces.
