Speaking of Cookie Monster, Firefox has a great extension called CookieMonster. It's really the equivalent of NoScript, but for cookies...i.e., default deny (based on your global firefox preferences), but you can allow for a single site, or temporarily allow, or allow for a single session each time you visit.
Also, don't forget about Flash "cookies." Adobe Flash has the ability to store information about the sites you visit, and by default any site can see all the other sites you've visited by checking your ~/.macromedia folder. To avoid this, you can start by using NoScript to disallow flash in the first place, and then clear your LSO Flash "cookies" on demand with a FF extension called "Objection" (google it). Or just clear out your.macromedia folder occasionally.
You're right. There is zero tangible evidence for eternal life. Good point (really).
So that means that if *YOU* are right that there's no eternal life, then both of us are going to rot in the ground when we die. Really, that's not such a bad thing for me. Plus, I will have lived my life respectfully, to its fullest, without bondage to drugs or material things, and I will have hopefully helped people along the way.
But, on the other hand, if *I* am right about heaven, then my life still hasn't changed all that much, except you are in for a whole new world of hurt when you die.
$293 isn't really that bad for on call support. I charge $40/hour on call for one of my long time customers -- a church with 5 PCs. Average cost for a year for them is about $2000. So yeah, the Ubuntu support is actually cheaper than Windows support in my case.
One night, I had to replace a light bulb in the bathroom over the sink. It was a pretty far reach but I was able to remove the old incandescent fine. I had one more CFL in an open pack of bulbs. As I was trying to screw it in, I dropped it in the sink and it shattered.
Crap. Well, that's OK...I don't really use that CFL in the ceiling much, and since I use the light over the sink more I'll just pull the CFL from the ceiling and put a spare incandescent there. Unscrew, unscrew....*CRASH*
same thing happened to me the other day using "Earthlink" service from Time Warner Cable. (we had roadrunner, but the promo period was over so we kept the same service but our ISP started showing up as earthlink...it's stupid) For some reason, google.com does not exist anymore:(
Switched to OpenDNS, and everything is fine. I switched back a day later and everything is fine again with earthlink's DNS.
I still hate their stupid ads, but I as long as they work most of the time I'd really not help kill OpenDNS's servers.
I doubt you own a coffee shop. If you did, you'd know the difference between regular expression software (expresso) and a drink (espresso).
It's hard to sip a regular expression software.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
That's the 4th amendment to the US Constitution. Pay particular attention to the first part. In today's vernacular we might say "Your shit ain't s'posed to be read or taken without a warrant." I dare say that "papers and effects," (e.g., letters, including personal correspondence) as written by the Founding Fathers could be directly translated into personal phone calls and emails today.
What's your point? A basic Ubuntu install requires 1x700MB CD and less than 5GB of HDD space. Plus, we all know that the default "Office" tools (as you call them) on Windows is a joke. Whether you like OpenOffice and GIMP or not is a personal opinion, but any rational person has to admit they are better than WordPad and Paint.
Then again, maybe you were looking for "Funny" mod instead of the informative mod you got.
For whatever reason, there doesn't seem to be an equal price competitor to GoDaddy. That's a shame as there are many people who want to leave.
I have my hosting and domains both registered at Site5. Hosting is the best deal around (if you buy several years at once), and once you have an account there you can buy domains for $8.88/yr.
It's much more convenient than GoDaddy, and well worth the extra buck(ish).
1. Again, different authors of the accounts of Jesus' life were writing to different groups of people and they each had different purposes. E.g., Matthew was writing to the Jews, so he followed the Jewish tradition of calculating Ancestry and Lineage. Luke, on the other hand, was writing to the Greeks, so he followed/their/ system of ancestry/lineage.
2. I've not seen any (even apparent) contradictions in the Resurrection stories. Could you please point them out so I may refute them?
I'm pretty sure your parent was talking about Jesus Christ. I just wanted to point out that neither Jesus nor John the Baptist were Christians. According to Wikipedia:
The first known usage of the term ÎÏÎÏfÏÎανÏOEÏ (khristianos) can be found in the New Testament, in Acts 11:26: "the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch." The term was thus first used to denote those known or perceived to be disciples of Jesus Christ. In the two other New Testament uses of the word (Acts 26:28 and 1 Peter 4:16), it refers to the public identity of those who follow Jesus.
So no, John the Baptist was not a Christian, and neither was he crucified. JtB's head was lopped off by King Herod Antipas (at the request of his step-daughter and her mother) and served on a silver platter. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_the_Baptist)
You were right that it could be Andrew since he was crucified, but I think my GP's point was that the only person who perfectly followed Christ's example was Christ himself.
This argument isn't about Microsoft. Some people legitimately like MS Office better than Open Office, or Apple's offerings, or Abi Word, or whatever. That's fine.
The point is you should be able to use anything you want to create a document, and then anyone you give it to should be able to view it properly. That's what standards are about; that's why they exist.
As a History Major, I particularly like my GP poster's point about the Rosetta Stone. We were very lucky to fine one to interpret the Ancient Egyptian language. One only needs to look at another Civilization like the Pre-Contact Incas, Mayans, or Aztecs to understand the importance of translation and language. We've lost a wealth of knowledge because there is simply no way to understand their writings.
Let us not follow in their footsteps. One day, we will be destroyed, or else our society will evolve and move on. And eventually someone will find the documents we've left behind. We should do everything we can to make those readable 10,000 years from now. Since they aren't carved or printed, they have to be translated by a computer.
With ODF, all of the tools are available to translate the document; with OOXML, they aren't.
I got an HTC Touch a few months ago and I'm LOVING it. Not because it displays sites well (it's great for mobile-specific sites, but otherwise Mobile IE SUCKS), but because it makes it easy to set up a bluetooth PAN. It takes a little while to set up the first time, but now I just press a button on my phone, then run a bash script on Ubuntu that connects to the phone. Instant Internet, ANYWHERE. It's great for family trips - I just hop in the back seat and can surf/IRC/post on/. while riding down the road.
My bank did the same thing...I complained and they finally fixed it after about 6 months. Luckily I lived so close to a branch, or I would have left. Almost did, but I can't complain now.:)
Yes. Go to http://turbotax.intuit.com/freedom and pretend you want to file your taxes there. Understandably, you need to enable cookies/javascript. But then what happens? "Your browser is not up to date" it says. "Please install Firefox 1.07, IE 6, or Netscape 8 on Windows, or some other stuff for Mac."
Wow...please install these out-of-date or defunct browsers. So I contacted tech-support to let them know their page was broken, and they actually took the time to *link to the firefox 1.0.7* page, which says it's the most up-to-date version of firefox. When you click the download link, it takes you to mozilla.com where you can download firefox 2. *facepalm*
So after a bit of googling, I found the user agent for firefox 2 on windows (firefox 3's windows user agent *still* wouldn't work) and plugged that into the User Agent Switcher extension. TurboTax worked like a charm after that! All I had to do was lie and say that I was using Firefox 2 on windows instead of firefox 3 on ubuntu.
Go ahead and try to start an account. Ok, so you need to enable cookies and javascript, no problem. Now what happens? Please update your browser to Firefox 1.07, IE 6, or Netscape 8 on windows, or something else on a Mac. Why does it matter what OS you are on if you use Firefox? I'm almost more understanding if it was IE only...at least then I'd know it required active X and I'd just use someone else.
Now install the User Agent Switcher extension, and build a Firefox for Windows profile (google it). What happens? THE SERVICE WORKS WITH (virtually) NO PROBLEMS!
dumbasses. basing their "browser compatibility" on some stupid.js that was built 10 years ago (literally...I've seen the file).

Actually, you are partially right. The Bible does talk about the roundness of the earth.
http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/wow/does-the-bible-say-anything-about-astronomy
That page talks about different scriptures that indicate the possibility that the earth is round.

Check the related links. They were found 9 days later (acc/to the /. timestamps).
Damn, I've got mod points and there's no "-1, Wrong"

So to answer your question...twice in one night :P

Gimp can support RAW with the DCRAW addon, as well as CMYK with Separate+

Don't kid yourself: Alltel already locks down their phones.

Correct, HIPAA doesn't apply to Google, but you should definitely read the differences between Google's Privacy Policy and HIPAA.
http://www.google.com/health_hipaa.html
Looks to me like Google is more private than HIPAA.

Of course, you need a bluetooth enabled laptop (I have an IBM T41), or a USB Dongle. And you need instructions for setting it up from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=598890&highlight=pand
