    Btw, the human is the original 'exploiter' in George Orwell's Animal Farm. A reference that apparently few people got, or at least they don't share my sense of humor. I'm also of the opinion at Google has reached 'Microsoft'ian levels yet, but I'm already of the opinion that Google is already in that route. Just a matter of time.

    Out of curiosity, what behavior from KDE 3 is not possible in KDE 4?

    You can revert to a "classic" desktop with icons, a classic Start Menu, and you can configure the task bar to work just like KDE 3. As far as I know, the only feature I recall from KDE 3 that I haven't really seen in 4 is the optional feature of Mac-like application menus.

    For starters you can't Ctrl-Esc for the 'skull of death' ...
    Also at least for me, a semi-n00b user, dbus seems like an emasculated dcop.

    Except that Scaling python across multiple cores is also a problem... CPython actually downgrades performance across multiple cores.

    My school sends the login/password as clear text, so in my experience OP has a point. Also gmail has google docs and view as HTML to quickly check to see the document contents.

    One can find problems without having to resort to temportal issues with the ISP. Battlenet has issues working properly with NAT, which is 99% of the users of internet of peru (non-bussiness at least). If you have a single PC behind a NAT playing there is not much problem, you can play no problem but to host you have to open one port. But For example two brothers want to play and one of them host, no can do, at least not without 3rd party Software (can't recall the name battlelan or something like that). So that would be an issue for instance @ Lan Cafes at least here in Peru.

    Don't hog all my memory. Konqueror 4.x broke Slashdot and digg so I had to stop using it and use firefox instad. But now Slashdot works properly again. I can use dig but I get a regexp exhaust error if I try to login in digg. I still have to use firefox for gmail and facebook though.

    My post obviously isn't an actual output but my attempt at a koan. As koan's are supposed to disruput your cognitive process so one can percieve reality as such. Of course you may think it is a sucky koan, but an attemp at least it is.

    You seem to be under the impression that there is something like a perfect software, just throw more developers and the final product will be better if we all add to it. (Yeah I know it aint clear but I hope you get what I mean) There is something called design decisions and Mozilla decided to build on top of xul as their way to implement cross compatability. Some people may not like that choice (me for example. Also iirc Rasterman also ranted about firefox's gui, but it was more about targeting windows first and adding *nixes as an afterthought). So google took their own design decisions, different from firefox and decided to implement them thinking they will result in a better product than mozilla. It is up for you, the user to decide. To Sum it up, You are oversimplyfing things thinking input developers to code base == better product.

    I'm pretty sure you couldn't do it on the 1st release. It was added on 4.0.1 or 4.0.2. Which was a month after release, which is what we are disscussing here, not the current state of affairs. Upon re-reading your comment I see we see eye-to-eye on the subject.

    Except no, they are not... One was unable to add plasmoids to the task bar in KDE-4.0.0. It was later than the functionality was added to plasma. I am not saying that KDE have gone the Gnome way, but to say that KDE4.0.0 was as configurable as the 3.5.9 branch is a lie. And he gave to examples of things that one is unable to do in KDE4.0.0 Although probably with time the KDE developers will re-add this configuration options. Btw I like the way KDE is going and I am waiting to see if 4.1 will finally be when I move on from the 3.5.9 branch

    I'm with you on gnash is crap. With the 32-bit wrapper I can see all youtube videos. It crashes once in while (like 1 time in a month) but it solves the problem about flash in amd64 linux

Copernicus even has a quote that goes like 'If anyone thinks Ptolemy is wrong, the gates of this art (astronomy) aren't open to him.'
