For me cloned app is like cloned idea. IIRC it looks like this:
1. dev want to add own app but Apple refused
2. Apple make similar app (starting earn $)
3. after few months Apple agree to add app from dev (with some changes and after few emails to Apple's administration)
I know true story about polish developer who make app but Apple cloned it and change the name and refused to add original app to app$tore. Few months later after some mails to Apple thay add his app (he lost some money by Apple's fault).
For me APPLE and it's $tore just FAILED.

Nowadays "schools" are almost "companies" - they need only money and make money on the students.
Most important thing today is what you can - what skills you have and paper from school not always give you good skills.
Anyway think about that: x people every year learn the same thing in the school, so this is too schematic for me.
People should go by themselves way in the learning path.
