At this year's SIGGRAPH conference, GaTech had more papers than any other institution, beating even top research institutes like MERL and Microsoft Research. Not only is GaTech's graphics program excellent, but it is still constantly growing.
Yup, is sure it is. BTW, why is someone from Slashdot posting at 6:58AM? Go to sleep, us geeks are not up that early (unless we didn't go to sleep). --Ivan, weenie NT4 user, Jon Katz hater: bite me!

I have met Thad Starner, and he, as well as most of the wearable community, uses a Twiddler. The Twiddler is a one-handed chorded keyboarded, which is amazingly fast if one knows how to use it. --Ivan, weenie NT4 user, Jon Katz hater: bite me!
I recently graduated with a MS in CS and I knew damn well that I was going to be taken advantage of. I was getting numerous e-mails/phone calls for jobs that had "sweat-shop" written all over them. Most of them are web-related: web engineers,CGI programmers,etc... I spent 5 months avoiding these jobs and looking for that one really cool job. After my exhaustive search, I finally got an offer from a company that does interesting work and treats their employees right. Last year the company had 0% employee turnover. That's right, zero, nada, not one employee left.
I wish all of you the best of luck in whatever you do...

These violations should not go unnoticed. Some of the e-mails that Katz provided are clear infrangements on our rights. Please, this should not be tolerated! Not only is discrimination from our peers harmful, but coming from our higher authorities is worse!

Although I can understand the Lucas is very demanding in the movies he makes, his demands are completly ludicrous. Small movie theaters are having a hard enough time trying to compete with the huge movie theater corporations, Lucas is sure not helping them. His restrictions can only help him set records for first week attendance. They will have no affect on how many total people will see the movie. No passes for the first 8 weeks. Arrogance is abound. F**k Lucas, I'm boycotting. --Ivan, weenie NT4 user, Jon Katz hater: bite me!

The Jikes compiler (http://www.research.ibm.com/jikes/) blows away any other current compiler in terms of speed. How does Java for egcs match up? I will try to do some benchmarks, but I don't currently have any time. --Ivan, weenie NT4 user, Jon Katz hater: bite me!

I have always been able to speed read, it just came naturally to me. The only problem occurs when trying to read something more "literary", I read to fast and I miss the concept. It is very hard to read a good book when all you do is scan for keywords. Unfortunatly, I have become used to speed reading, so I give up all hope. --Ivan, weenie NT4 user, Jon Katz hater: bite me!

White bread is just thick toilet paper. I need bread with some kick: nice thick crust. Northern Italian bread or French bread does the trick. Ummmm, I'm getting hungry. Hey! It's almost dinner time.
Why not just use that money to buy a laptop with a decent sound card, buy a car-CD/Cassette adaptor, and your off and running. There might be a problem stabalizing your laptop, but for $999, I'll find a way
Well, I did say you can read this article if you have access to the ACM Digital Library. I am an ACM member (as any computer scientist should be) and I find their library VERY useful for when I need to research articles. The article itself isn't much of a paper, it is merely a two(?) page column in the CACM.

There is no "C"-specific code. C++ is a superset of C. Backwards compabtability with C was one of C++ design goals.
