Let's see, every update to the PSP has been designed to remove features that allow owners of the unit to enjoy it with content not controlled by Sony. Why should anyone think that this new device will be any different?
I'll stick with dead tree format, thanks. Less chance of my collection being rendered useless because of some stupid "upgrade".
In this case the keyboard itself is a fine product (I have two). It's the review that's seriously underwhelming. Add to that the "An anonymous user submitted..." and one does tend to assume money exchanged hands between Tweak News and Slashdot.
It's not just their English that's important, it's their typing speed and, more generally, their general rate and quality of communications. It doesn't matter if English is their first language if they stand around doing nothing without providing a reason or they refuse to answer questions but then ring up their guildies and complain that you did something they didn't like. The high level of teamwork in WoW requires a decent commitment to good, timely communications.
Programs like Teamspeak solve this to some extent, but then you have the people that refuse to wear headphones. I've been given a headache by two twits on the same channel that both had speakers and refused to close the mic whenever they caused a loop. (Both of them stopped speaking, but left the mic open. I assume they were both waiting for the other to stop so they could say whatever they were wanting to say. They really didn't understand that the echos were not going to stop until at least one of them took their finger off the push-to-speak button.)
Who needs WMP for Windows when we've got VLC, which is also free and works? Who needs WMP for Windows when we've got mplayer, which is also free and works?
Microsoft would do better to collapse their product lines back to the stuff that actually makes a profit. If they want to make a better experience for Windows users (or whatever their wanky statement was) they should focus on a small, tight, modular, fast Windows without all the bloat. As I type this I don't think I have a single Microsoft program open, just Windows.
Get her a World of Warcraft account. It will consume all her spare time for six to 18 months before she finally gets fed up with Blizzard's crap and leaves. Because it's all-consuming, she won't naturally move on to any other game. Addiction sorted.
As an Australian IT worker, not only am I not concerned about migrants taking my job, I actually work in an educational institution that trains international students. Migrants are not "taking Australian Jobs", that's just a tired old stereotype hauled out whenever some, usually, right-wing nutjob wants to rally support for whatever cause he or she is abusing at that moment.
This is a small planet people, and everyone is just trying to get through life as best as they can.
I was using my PocketPC. PIE blows. I thought a timely link would be more important than futzing around to get the permanent link. (BTW: You can't right-click on a link to copy it to the clipboard, you have to actually visit the page and copy it from the address line. And about 20% of the time you do a "right-click", to copy to the clipboard, by holding down the pen on the screen it locks up and you have to re-start it.)
The DC240/DC260/DC265/DC290 models were the pinnacle of Kodak digital cameras. After them Kodak completely lost its focus on useful hardware and started rolling out web services and gimmicks.
That said, I'm very happy with my new A$140 fixed-focus 4 Megapixel point 'n click Kodak. The optical zoom on my DC260 still makes it preferable for anything more than a couple of meters away, but for mindless snapping the cheap new Kodak is quite good. You can see an example of what I was able to take with three cameras at a recent yaughting event here.
So do you have some tips for designing a site's top bar so that it will look good both in a 1600 pixel wide window and in a 320 pixel wide window?
Why, yes I do. Use a table set to 100% width then right (or left) align an image that fades to the table's flat background colour on its left (or right).
If you think that you have to scale any given image for a page to resize gracefully when the user resizes their browser window then you shouldn't be designing web pages.
About a quarter of the Dells in our computer labs forget all their BIOS settings after being without power for a few hours. That's the sort of place I'd look for your problems.
I have one of these on order. Might even arrive today. Now, I don't give a toss about "High Definition", but that specs page seems to make reference to HD a few times and with network connectivity appears to be able to play HD stuff without having to worry about a specific HD disc format. Seems to have all the interfaces too. Don't know if it has this stupid DRM crap that seems to have infected the HD standards, but then I just have an old 68cm TV with a nice S-Video input that looks pretty good from a few meters back.
Is HD still only 25/30 Frames per second? 'Cause motion blur is a much bigger issue for me than picture resolution.
Will I have to use an illegal device to convert the digital stream to component for my TV?
Most likely. I bought a Sony PS2 as a DVD player because of Datel's DVD Region X. Most big companies simply have no idea how much of their sales are due to grey-market (or even black-market) products. Heck, the original Sony Playstation was so popular because you could so easily get cheap copies of the games.
Now, however, Sony is dead to me. I was already moving away from big brands like that anyway. In fact, my new Zensonic DVD player should be arriving soon.

Just load all but one disc onto the hard drive. There. No swapping.

Jason Scott, of the BBS Documentary fame, recently detailed on his weblog an appropriate tale.
Which means I'm more likely to watch it than, say, Underworld Evolution.
You are confusing accountability with ability. When the ideal situation does not exist, both must be considered.
Sounds like a job for Bluetooth more than USB.

Okay then, how about https://isc.sans.org/index.php
It's just a shame they've sat on this technology for almost a year now without releasing anything new.

Combat is something like; Press 5 buttons (in your own time), wait 28 seconds, press 2 buttons, wait 28 seconds, press 2 buttons. wait for mob to die.
My mother about matches that demographic. She's the head of an accounting department in a major university now.

My main issues with VIA surround a bus timing issue that b0rked my Audigy 2 and firewire iPod compatibility.
