who does he think should bear these costs? Everyone in the US?
Uh, Yeah! If the whole of America was one big city where do you think your food would come from? There are single farms in Australia that are larger than most European countries, but because they're run by a family of five they suffer from one-person, one-vote. Now, I'm a city-slicker and always have been, but I don't mind in the least bit if part of what I pay for infrastructure is used to subsidise the rural areas. I think $10,000 bills just to have a couple of wires run a few kms to your house are a little unreasonable.
That's like saying the Wright Bros' plane wasn't cutting edge because it was made of wood. Low power, high bandwidth RF data is a great enabling technology and as the power requirements drop and the bandwidth goes up the magic follows.
Just look at any technology that appears to almost be magic. This is where the edge is. Bluetooth and WiFi are up there, guesture-based interaction is close. Imagine being able to unlock the door to your house with a (specific) wave of your hand, all worked out using sensors built into a ring or glove and relayed to the house's security system using an encrypted RF data technology. Personal Area Networking is a group of technologies with a lot of potential. There are many more examples, I'm sure.
Okay, I've now got a soft MT-32 available on my PC. Has anyone got a link to any archives of old MT-32 tunes? I used to have a LAPC-1, so I know there's some sweet stuff out there...
I have an N-Gage and its Bluetooth works well, be it shuffling files, being a modem for your laptop/PDA or multiplayer gaming. I've even exchanged messages with an Ericsson model of some sort. It's also now the cheapest Series 60 phone, with more RAM than the 3650.
Scared of the N-Gage? The Sendo X appears to be the top-of-the-line Series 60 phone, with the works, but if you want a Nokia device, the ultimate appears to be the 6600 -- you'll pay for it though.
I want all of these blank-media levies removed, not new ones added. We need a group to constantly bug government to remove these levies. The bargaining position shouldn't be somewhere between the current levies and new ones, it should be between no levies and the new ones. Every time this issue is brought up the recording industry should risk losing everything.
Will it then be illegal to copy music in Canada, or do Canadians get nothing but screwed for their bonus 20%? The Canadian RIAA needs to be forced to give up something or it's just government-sponsored theft.
As a person who both creates and consumes, I totally agree that copyright should be abolished, as should patents. Trademarks need some work to.
I am also 100% opposed to "private taxes" where money goes straight from my purchase of a product to an unaccountable organisation that had nothing to do with the production or sale of the product.
Thing is, I have no idea how to effect this change.
This will split the userbase and generally annoy paying customers. I run a virtual drive system so I don't have to keep my Chessmaster 8000 discs out where they can get lost, so that's exactly what UbiSoft's new patch can do, get lost.
Anyway, there will be a NoNoVirtualCD patch out by the end of the day.
Bluetooth sales sudden spiked because it was being included in new mobile phones. Same for MP3 playback. My mobile can play MP3s, though I only use the ability for ringtones. And with some extra software my phone can play Ogg Vorbis files too. If everyone with a Series 60 phone installed OggPlay, would the number of portable devices capable of playing Ogg Vorbis files be considered to have gone up?
I bought one of the older style 10 Gig models at a university bookstore/computer store when the new models came out. It was about 30% off. Look for similarly small Apple resellers that can't afford to keep on old stock.
There doesn't appear to be a single thing in there to address physics. This means that I'm still going to get monsters in the wall, explosions that go through floors and clothing passing through players, it's just going to look nicer.
If you buy the games then download the hacked copies that let you install them onto an MMC, how is that different from installing Diablo II and a No CD patch?
Ultimately it's unimportant as the commercial games are so damn average.
I thought The Simpsons Road Rage was a licenced rebranding of Crazy Taxi. If they're not related, then the first one should probably be able to nail the second one to the wall.
I barrelled through the original game, but completely stalled on the first expansion. Since I have been subsequently introduced to Dungeon Siege I can see a lot of places where D&D rules triumphed over gameplay.
Also, playing multiplayer is so damn slow it's pointless. One person gains a level and everyone gets lunch while he or she levels up.
Sorry, Series 60 only. That doesn't include the P800. Only needs a port, but the binaries are not compatible. Also, the 3650 doesn't have enough RAM. Sendo X looks promising through. The N-Gage isn't "just" a Series 60 phone, it's *A Series 60 Phone*! With Lots Of RAM!

Sorry, no. The game swap issue is not a deal breaker, given that hundreds of games and at least four emulators supporting possibly as many as 5,000 games total can all just be loaded onto a single MMC. Heck, with the cracked games doing the rounds, you can have them on your MMC too. There are 512MB MMCs that are compatible with the N-Gage.
I have at least 150 games with me on my N-Gage. When you're carrying around a GBA, how many carts do you have with you? The answer is often one, making swapping games completely irrelivant.

Don't be silly, I know a genuine Panaphonics when I see one.
Froogle is superb. Here's a link for "3-button mouse -scroll".

(This would have fitted on a single CD. I think we should add environmental terrorism to the list of SCO's offences.)

I've also played Doom on a Kodak DC265 digital camera.

Fluxx is brilliant and the Scrabble(tm) card game is pretty decent.

As if! When outsourcing you get to pick none. It's slower, more expensive and worse.
