I don't know anything about Spongebob... some weird vile creature to me... and I guess you were referencing a song in the show. I found the joke super funny anyway.
My setup consists of an Ubuntu-based server with tons of storage, media served via Samba, an Acer Revo connected via ethernet, which connects to the TV via HDMI. The Acer Revo box runs XBMC (installed from the XBMC Live install CD). I even picked up one of the SoundGraph remote/receivers to control it all from. Best setup ever.
But, as I came to discover, the new Samsung TV I picked up recently has media decoding capabilities built right into it. It has an ethernet port built into it that can be used to stream media from a DLNA-compliant server. I don't use this method, however, as I find it's capabilities extremely limited compared to XBMC, but it will play x264 (via the mkv container), as well as divx/xvid files. An advantage to this is that you can use your TV remote to control media playback.
Awesome indeed. What was even more awesome is when Smashing Pumpkins included Doom sound samples into their song "Where Boys Fear to Tread" as a nod to this joke.
Leela:And Bender, that aerosol head spray makes your head smell nice... Bender:Thank You. Leela:...but it's doing long-term damage to the planet. Bender:So? It's not like it's the only one we've got!
Yes, I would say it does have a defect. Considering I bought this card over 2 years ago, I seriously doubt they're going to take it back (nor do I really want to go through the song and dance of trying to get it RMA'd, assuming they even do take it back). This is just a workaround for said defect that I'm sure others can utilize as well.
I had this exact problem with the between-mission videos (horrible artifacts, and eventual lockup). Since I run an nvidia card (gtx 260) which came overclocked from the factory, the solution was to download the EVGA Precision Tool (don't worry, it works on most nvidia cards, not just ones manufactured by EVGA). With it I could increase the speed of the fan, and underclock the GPU to prevent it from overheating. For me, the solution was to increase the fan speed to 100% and to decrease the GPU clock speed from 655 MHz to 630. I didn't notice any drop in frame-rate and things run stable now.
The attitude regarding college (from parents, teachers, counselors) was if you don't go, you won't be successful. You'll get stuck working some dead end job and will never amount to anything.
I couldn't agree more. When these same people were in high school things were way different than they are now, thanks to the Internet making it ridiculously easy for people to teach things to themselves.
What's funny nowadays is I see a plethora of talented people that never even considered going to college, and then those who do have degrees either still unemployed or working shit jobs because all they have is that piece of paper and no real-world skills. What's really unfortunate to those that don't have degrees is although they can still get the same jobs that those with degrees can get, they'll generally get paid less simply because they don't have a degree, even though they may be more qualified.
While it's true that some come out of college with a nasty sense of entitlement for an awesome, high-paying job, not all do. The majority of people that I graduated with surely didn't share that sentiment (probably because they saw how much more I knew than them due to my actual real work experience, vs their school-only experience).
Lol...I was referring to traditional benefits (health insurance, stock options, free meals, 1 assassination per year (er..nevermind that last one)), but whatever floats your boat.
It's been my experience that pay is not as negotiable as everyone thinks it is.
Yes and no. Simply going to your boss and demanding a raise likely won't get you anywhere.
However, going to your boss saying "company X made me an offer for $Y" (where $Y > $CURRENT_SALARY), then you have a greater chance of getting that raise (assuming they want to keep you onboard). It's a sad fact, but in this day in age it's pretty much what you have to do.

Is that a true story?
Superking has no need for loved ones!
Isn't this how Blizzard distributes updates for their games?

...and it will be nice to not have choice limited to a locked-down "appliance"
You must be new to the mobile telecom industry...
Is it possible to be funnier than +5?
Well, the disclaimer was there....a lawyer of all people should have known what that means in the legal sense...
....The other reason being that it shouldn't be entirely her responsibility.
That's why I'm a gentleman and pull out.
Wow, bitter much?

Some day I wish to share Bender's optimism:
...but it's doing long-term damage to the planet.
Leela: And Bender, that aerosol head spray makes your head smell nice...
Bender: Thank You.

You probably could have saved a lot of time & effort by simply working on your people skills.

I think that support analyst should be stripped of his position.
He'll just go work for HP instead.
Blanket statements will get you in trouble.

Well, for starters they're operated like for-profit corporations, instead of education institutions
Isn't this what Cydia accomplishes?
So, why hasn't the board ousted Ballmer yet?
This is very true, which is why I'm generally willing to settle for a lower pay rate if I'm otherwise happy with my job.

In that case, you have the higher paying job offer to fall back on.

There are other forms of compensation other than just how much $$ one makes a year.
