Right now its a combination of the old NES games Bubble Bobble and some Yoshi game where you eliminate things in pairs. Previously it was spider solitaire, trying to solve the games in the least number of moves possible.
Seems like these qualifications are awfully subjective and would make it easy for NASA to block anybody they thought was undesirable. There's a LOT of room for interpretation.
And to think it took them two years of work to come up with this document.
According to this article by Western Driver http://www.westerndriver.com/information/test-driv e/2001-corbin-sparrow.html the vehicle registers as a motorcycle, so I'm sure it meets all the safety requirements of one. It also says in most states it doesn't require a helmet or a motorcycle indication on a license, but that it might be hard to find insurance.
The image in his E-Bay listing is broken. No wonder the reserve hasn't been met. Who would bid on a car when they don't know what it looks like? Perhaps his site is slashdotted and thus the picture disappeared?:)
You understand and agree that any unauthorized use of the Player or Content would result in irreparable injury to us and/or our affiliates or licensors for which money damages would be inadequate,...
My unauthorized use will cause them so much harm and injury that even money will not suffice??? Isn't the whole reason they are doing this to make people buy more cds (because you can't make copies so yours don't get scratched, stolen, etc.) and disallow the use of the cd to burn MP3s so that they can make more money?
Stupid. I'm going to try and fashion some sort of letter to the editor to let people know this is going on. I told me dad, and he was quite concerned. I think that other non-technical types who haven't heard about this will be as disgusted as we all are. I know our local paper won't provide any info about this.
BTW, one cd that's not on the list provided but that we bought that certainly had problems playing in many of our players (old car cd player and old home cd player)is Warren G's Return of the Regulators, put out Dec. 11 by Universal.
Are they suggesting in any way when they say:
"About 3 percent of the world can be accessed in a wheeled vehicle, but 85 percent can be reached by something with legs," that this would be useful for people with disabilities, such as perhaps giving them the ability to walk? I can't picture how it would work, but the basic premise for motorized and enhanced limbs makes me think it might.
That's sort of what my post was about. My body naturally wakes up at 8:30. Anything before that and I have very hard time. I turn off multiple alarms, etc. I also find that I get very little done until after about 10:00 anyway, no matter what time I come in. My employer at first insisted I be in by 8:00. After 6 months of me showing up late pretty frequently (but otherwise being a model employee and staying late to work on stuff since I really get a lot done in late afternoon to evening times), and finally a company wide policy that various offices can choose when they want their employees to work, I finally convinced him to make it 9:00. That still doesn't let me get up at my preferred time, but its a hell of a lot closer. I think though that if it weren't for that company wide policy, I'd still be having to come in at 8:00.
The last employer I had let me pick my time to come in as long as it was before 11:00am. God I miss it.
I usually get right around 8 hours of sleep a night. It doesn't feel like enough when I am forced to get up by my alarm, but when I naturally wake up at the same time, I feel fine. My body wants me to wake up around the same time each day. That time is usually 8:30 am.
Unfortunately that doesn't jive with the corporate working world. I think its unfortunate that many employers are unwilling to be flexible with their hours to allow for things such as difference in natural sleeping patterns. I am lucky that my employer finally let me move back my start time by an hour. My last employer was perfect, letting us come in anytime between 6 and 11 am as long as we got our work done. We were salaried, so what's the difference? Its understandable if you have to be there at certain times to work with others, but in cases where you work independently I don't see it as an issue.
I'm interested in hearing others experiences. Do you have jobs with flexibilty enough to sleep as long as you want/need to?
I have one of those *magical* keyboard and mouse trays that go under the desk and adjust to any height, and I usually wear headphones. Thanks for asking!
With the $100 price difference between the Cube and the xbox, we were able to buy a DVD player in addition to our Cube and still rack up a total price of less than the xbox alone would have cost. Not to mention that to some gamers (or their parents) $200 seems a lot more reasonable than $300 - for a system without games. In addition, many people had DVD players before the purchased a game system, meaning they don't even need to use the DVD playback option on their game systems.
The device seems to be more of a PDA to rival the Palm and others than a rival to the Gameboy. Its primary focus is not gameplay. Even MS themselves says in the article:
As such, Mira would mirror many functions of personal digital assistants (PDAs), such as devices based on Microsoft's Pocket PC operating sytem.
I hope that the design of the Lindows web site does not reflect the design of the OS. It was ugly, and definitely not very accessible. No alt tags even. It had problems displaying in Opera and Netscape. Of course the screenshot #1 shows them using IE to look at their site. I would too if that's the only way it looked decent.
Notice in screenshot #2 how the email shown tells of a critical security hole in XP and another SQL server? They just can't help but jab at MS a bit I suppose!
It's that K-Mart and other stores do not use the tapes to actively seek out criminals. They only use them to watch for crimes that may be occuring in their stores. Its also semi-private property and people know the cameras are there.
There isn't near as much of a chance for someone to be wrongfully accused - and even if they are accused of something like shoplifting its a simple process to clear them of the charge in the store. Sure its embarrasing, but not nearly as big of a deal as if the police take you away for verification. If you are picked up on a camera by the government as a criminal, I am willing to bet that when they track you down it won't be near as simple of a process as what you'd experience at K-Mart.
As for K-Mart using facial recognition to suggest purchases - I think its an awful idea, but for other reasons than those associated with the loss of privacy.
Its based on points, not kills, which mean that even people who are not sharp shooters and professional Quake players have a chance. Plus, its a lot less violent and dark looking, appealing to more of the crowd - especially women. I know that I and the other girl on our tech team didn't mind playing this, but disliked Doom and Quake.
I don't understand what the big deal is! One flippant comment like this has people jumping all over it??
Apparently my failure to read this article and instead post what I considered a somewhat insignificant post will result in the loss of our liberty to sing jingle bells. It will kill the future for our children and grandchildren, it will destroy the environment, bring hell to earth. You're right. I am what's wrong with the world today, a person who said they didn't have time to read something becuase they are filled with the holiday spirit. Damn me!!!!!
It wasn't meant to be insightful. It was just meant to be a legitimate comment about the article. It is damn long for a slashdot article. I figured I'd get modded down for being off topic perhaps, but didn't plan on the personal attacks. I guess I should be used to that by now.
I am not apathetic. I am interested in this topic. I am one who writes to my government figures, takes part in the political process, etc. - but I have no reason to prove myself to you! I am just not interested in reading this long piece right now.
Or perhaps - I would even recommend this game for those who may not be fans of the RPG genre?
I see what you're getting at, as all games are in a way RPGs, but clearly he met the genre of games that are classified as role playing rather than action, shooter, etc. games.
Probably interesting, but entirely too long to read. Its the holidays - I'm not in the mood for pages and pages of stuff about law, I'm in the mood for candy canes...
Right now its a combination of the old NES games Bubble Bobble and some Yoshi game where you eliminate things in pairs. Previously it was spider solitaire, trying to solve the games in the least number of moves possible.
Perhaps some of the links on this page will help?

Of course I've been wrong before...
You'd think by now they would have come up with a way to filter out these damn page widening posts. It ruins a person's viewing/reading experience...

This article has a lot to offer about performance and potential problems of the car: http://www.electrifyingtimes.com/corbinsparrow200

http://www.fatchucks.com/corruptcds/ is a another source for lists of copyrighted cds, not just the ones by Universal.

Quick, go buy it for $18.21, and yes - it is the collector's DVD version. You can get the VHS version for something like $12.
:)
The theme of big time execs stealing the small person's ideas is relevant even today.
BTW, the film won a 1982 academy award for Best Costume Design.

Mounting it upside down is a great idea! It would mean having 100% of your desk space available, something I could really use.

Nope, it doesn't glow. They reported on the news that it doesn't make its own light in any way. :)
