I interpreted the post to mean that they live in Australia and that they are that they are going back. So its not like they are coming as tourists with the sole intention of watching tv once they get there. They just want to know how they can get a cool feature that they saw in the states.

There IS Fanta in the US. We get it here in Iowa, but its not easy to find.
According to the Coca Cola web site, "Fanta sells best in Brazil, Germany, Spain, Japan, Italy and Argentina. Fanta distribution was increased in the U.S. in 2001 with the return of four flavors: orange, strawberry, pineapple and grape. Orange, the biggest seller, is now available in most of the country. ":-)
A lot of you are asking, why Hotmail? Why not use some other free email service. Well the answer for me, and probably a lot of their user base, is that you have to use it for Passport. Since Passport is incorporated into nearly all of their web pages and services, it is necessary to have an address for this purpose. For instance, if I need to communicate with a family member on MS Messenger, even if I'm using Trillian or something, I have to have a Passport account to login and use the service. Same with games on the Zone. I quit using that site because they forced passport on users, but I bet many people still use it.
I am currently getting around 75 spam messages a day to my Hotmail. Since I don't use that address for regular correspondence, just Passport, I just decided that perhaps its possible to get around the spam by setting my junk mail filter to exclusive, and then not adding anyone to my list of contacts. Sure I'll still get the MS crap about upgrading my account and stuff, but it should be so much better.
Because you need it to use for Microsoft's Passport crap which is now incorporated into nearly all their web pages and products. If you want to use MS messenger, or the games on the Zone, for instance, you have to use Passport. I avoid Passport where possible, but I bet that many people need to use some of MS's other services.
This works well, except when you reach 250 addresses on your block senders list, then you can no longer block new addresses coming in with spam unless you remove some off your list. If we had the ability to block as many addresses as we wanted it would be more effective.
I started using it because it was one of the premier places to get an account back around 1997. Now I keep it because I have to have it for all the Passport things that I encounter. I avoid Passport whenever possible, but occasionally run across something that I want to use and need it for.
Slightly off topic, but Britain has a Go Association. I imagine they are pretty pleased to see the game coming back in style. They have lots of info about the game, downloads, etc. available.
I'd never heard of the game before I saw this story. I've obvsiously never played it, but they way they described it, it seemed like games could take a very long time when you use the larger board. I could see how this could be very complicated.
I work for OSDN (Open Source Development Network), a division VA Software, working on the Slash code and editing stories for the Apple section of Slashdot.
The government...is between a rock and a hard place, with sales of HDTVs slower than expected,
Slow Sales? Well what do they expect! What's the salary of the average tv watcher (4 hours a day of viewing) and what part of that is disposable income? Now what part of this disposable income do you think they will have to spend on a tv that right now will not really even make their watching experience moderately more enjoyable??? Come on. And now they want to increase this cost? The only way they're going to move these things at the pace they want is if the price drops dramatically or they start giving them away to people.
Did any of the Iowa groups actually get together? There were several scheduled across the state, but I haven't seen anything about them yet. Next time I may consider driving to one of the more interesting ones if I hear a good report.
Oddly enough, the meetup suggested as closest to me when I entered my zip is NOT the closest. Didn't really matter though. Either way, one listed 5 signups and the other had none. I have a feeling only maybe Des Moines, Cedar Rapids or Iowa City drew people.
I hadn't been watching my karma score so much to get to 50, as to notice when my comments were moderated. I login and I'm up a point or two and I know one of my comments was moderated so look to see which one. Now I login, see I'm still at excellent, and have no clue if any of my comments have been moderated. I'd have to go through each comment to see if there was a change.
I don't know that the NY Times is attacking Google or any of the search engines so much as making a point about how a gradual erosion of personal privacy is taking place because of the net.
Well there's a great list of editors on PHP.net at http://213.155.159.67/phpeditors/index.php that you might find helpful. The list gives the webpage, platform, license, and reader comments for each one.
As a web developer who is almost always using Windows, lately I've used Homesite (costs a bunch), 1st Page 2000 (just like Homesite but free) and Crimson Editor. They all work fine for anything I've needed to do.
So now the Sys Admins have a day along with the secretaries and the bosses. But what about all the rest of us??? I'm tired of buying presents for the rest of the staff. I know I'm whining, but really. Many, many people work hard in their positions. Why do we honor just a few solely by what their title happens to be?
You're right on with the satellite idea. We live in rural Iowa and because of the trees on our property that is our only high speed option. We haven't been able to afford it yet though, and I bet that is true of a lot of the people in poor rural areas. Satellite is expensive! Last I checked it was $300-$800 to setup and $90 a month (cheaper if you only have high speed one way)! Another idea is DSL for rural people who are in close proximity to towns. A nearby town to us offers DSL for rural customers up to five miles away from the office.
Pratchett's Bromelaid Trilogy about the gnomes is being made into a movie by Dreamworks!!
From scifi.com
Bromeliad Still Blossoms
DreamWorks honcho Jeffrey Katzenberg told SCI FI Wire that work progresses on the much-anticipated animated- film adaptation of Terry Pratchett's Bromeliad Trilogy of novels, despite reports that the project had been put on the back burner. Joe Stillman (Shrek) is writing the script for the film, which is slated for release in 2005 or later, Katzenberg said in an interview while promoting DreamWorks' upcoming animated movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.
"Andrew Adamson, who directed Shrek 1 and is supervising Shrek 2, that's his next project," Katzenberg said. The Bromeliad Trilogy tells the story of a group of four-inch-tall gnomes, who venture into the real world, which thinks they no longer exist. The first book, Trucks, deals with the gnomes as they leave their department-store home when it is threatened with demolition.
Katzenberg added that DreamWorks has a heavy slate of animation projects destined for release in 2004. "We have Shrek 2 in May, Sharkslayer in July and Wallace & Gromit at Thanksgiving." When asked about Shrek 2, Katzenberg declined to reveal anything about the plot, adding simply, "Really funny. Really, really, really funny."
Opera 6.0. If I have it set to identify as Opera, I cannot log in. The minute I change it to MSIE 5, viola!, no problem. It could just be a random occurence with me, but its the same both with my computer at work and the one at home.

Oh, VeriSign's just mad because ICANN rejected their WLS proposal and
"ICANN leaders have "very, very creatively interpreted their authority to get into areas they were never authorized to get into,"
sounds suspciously like VeriSign's own business practices...
Their both just giant evil entities anyway.
It's that way in a lot of places. We have the same problem here in rural Iowa.
I know this is way too late, but this page has some great links to Python Resources.
You could try going through the CIAO, since the CIP Board was created as an extension of it.

More importantly I guess is that they already have Go games to download: http://www.britgo.org/gopcres/gopcres1.html

Yep, that's it all right.
And not that it matters, but I'm a she. And somehow I managed to get the first post without even realizing it.
Too funny. Someone's been reading user friendly and decided to fight back perhaps?
