I understand that you were confused about my first sentence. But my post was three sentences long and you entirely missed the third one which would have easily cleared up the confusion:
"If you can be banned from ever entering the country for that "offense", when are we going to be exiled for doing the same?"
I never said he was exiled. My post was an open question as to when foreigners being banned for calling the POTUS a name would slip to citizens being exiled.
So when does calling the president an unsavory name get you exiled? Ya, emailing the White House and calling the president a name isn't "smart" but it isn't illegal unless it constitutes a threat either. If you can be banned from ever entering the country for that "offense", when are we going to be exiled for doing the same?
Well, actually, the physical objects aren't covered under the EULA. Technically you buy those and the license "document" on the media. If you don't accept the EULA you don't have rights/permission to utilize the bits on the media. You basically own a box, a Frisbee, and a digitized license. Presumably, the license is what is worth the sticker price and the box/media are thrown in for "free". Accept it or not, that is what they are selling to you. You don't have to install it to be the proud owner of a license you will never utilize.
Years ago, when I pulled my account information from them it was "common" knowledge in the eBay scene that if you were a seller and a buyer claimed it was a fraudulent sale, PayPal would pull the refund directly from your PayPal account without notice. If the funds were not in your PayPal account, they would pull it from your linked checking account, again, without notice.
The common strategy was to setup a second "dummy" checking account and link PayPal to that one. Whenever you had money in your PayPal account above a certain amount, pull it into your "dummy" account and then transfer the full balance _out_ of that account into one that isn't linked to PayPal.
Why someone would trust PayPal, who isn't a bank, with well over half a million dollars is beyond me.
The action, targeting the so-called 'Warez Scene', is said to have been in planning for two years, and is believed to have taken place at the request of Belgian authorities."
Ya, good luck with that. In the meantime new servers will come online and all the bits will be put back in order. This time, they will probably be put up in countries that won't answer the phone. Good job, 2 years of planning and I'm sure a heroic police effort, executing the warrants, will be undone in a matter of weeks. Welcome to the digital age.
Pilot error refers, usually, to missing something on a checklist or making a bad judgment call. Having two brains is going to pick up on a lot more "mistakes" than one. The cockpit is basically setup to always have someone there to "proof read" what you're doing. It really is amazing how many mistakes are missed by one person but _easily_ caught by a second. Sure, not all mistakes are caught and hence you have planes going down due to human error.
Sure they do. Their children, children's children, and so on will benefit from all the money the corporate lobbying has brought. Oh, you mean the world that also resides outside the paid for politicians? The officials don't really pay much attention unless it's election time. Damnit, I wish that was hyperbole.
Citizens: What a great idea! Slow, but available. If I can't and/or don't want to pay a lot for faster Internet, we have an option!
FCC: Sorry, but this isn't in the best interests of the corporations.
There are going to be arguments both ways on this. I'd like to see the statistics if/when this goes into effect. It's definitely an interesting concept. My only qualm is those that are "in a hurry" may have other things on their mind and might not be the best drivers at any speed. Then again, if every state had this system, or even if there was a national level system and you had a trip to go cross country. Could be an interesting idea. Although, then there is the problem of "Ya, I know the highway was crowded, but I _paid_ to speed, so I weaved in and out of traffic to keep up at 90mph." So I guess we'd really need a couple "speeding only" lanes. Still, I'd like to see the statistics after this has been in effect for a while.
Interesting.. The dictionary seems to disagree with you..

I happen to know a few people who are really.. well, they love Jesus more than most. They seem to attack science, not to learn anything, but to merely shoot down their "adversary".
I really wish those people could understand this quote (last 2 lines of the article): "People start off with a belief and a prejudice—we all do. And the job of science is to set that aside to get to the truth."
Portion control is _not_ starving yourself. I don't care how healthy you eat. If you have a habit of eating too much all the time you're still going to be fat.
Wow... I think I hit a nerve and I never intended to. Christ, I mention a potentially far fetched scenario where a sitting president could have lost the election due to slander/defamation and WHAMMO! Someone goes on the George W. Bush/Republican defensive. Take a chill pill man. Turn on some Fox News and relax with a nice cold beer.
If you're guilty I don't think it is slander and/or defamation. However, if you know you didn't download what they are accusing you of and you believe you can somehow prove it or convince a jury that there is no way they can prove you did. Then, yes, I believe you could have a case. Otherwise, what an awful political tool that could be. *Rewind* someone pays media company to sue Obama or those on his election team for illegally sharing "Muslims porking Teens" and whammo. True or not, enjoy Palin as VP as media outlets barf it into their cameras.
Just curious, but what data are you basing that extremely general claim off of? Or is your post meant to troll all those who like Colbert/Stewart for whatever reason you have?
Frankly, I've been witness to whole Enterprise datacenters going offline and then being brought up system by system in less than a week (candy red button). A week to fix a SAN issue? really? Why not classify it as a Sev0 (public exposure) (probably a somewhat unique code to the company I work for) and get the vendors in THAT DAY to fix it?
I _highly_ doubt they don't realize the truth. Suing everyone and basically having your own "war on piracy" probably provides far better revenue and/or chances to grab power than just sitting there collecting sales revenue. People aren't stopping buying their movies (well, I have, but I'm sure I'm in a minority) but they sure as hell stand to make _thousands_ of dollars off each person they can pin down on a piracy charge. "Oh we see you were probably never going to buy our movie, well, you owe us $2k+ now, thanks for "purchasing" our non-DRM version of [movie]!"
No, that's not how it works. If you're awesome enough to make something copyrightable, you must be paid millions upon millions in perpetuity. It's only fair. So what if it only cost you $5.29 to make. You deserve $250,000,000,000,000 for it and if you don't get it, there must be rampant piracy and the witch hunt is on!
First, I want to thank you for your service to our country. Sincerely. I simply don't have what it takes to do what you guys do and I appreciate the sacrifices all of you make. Thank you!
With that said, and I apologize, as a fellow citizen I'm going to have to say this.
It's your mentality that is one of the many reasons this country is really starting to suck. I understand you went through a lot and playing a video game brought back some awful memories, etc. But that is _no_ reason to support the removal of a video game that thousands of other people might want.
This exact, "I don't like it so I want it removed so _no one_ can have it" mentality is one of the most absurd notions of our time.
If you don't like it. I respect that. If you don't want to buy it, I understand. If you want to personally boycott the company, I support you. But if you take offense to something and then want it removed from shelves, there by making the decision for everyone else for them? No, simply, no.
Sorry buddy. You have free will and choice just like everyone else. You are free to choose to not like it and not play it just like the next guy is allowed to choose to like it and play it. It's not for "you" to decide what is moral and not moral in situations like this. It's art, art can be polarizing, move on.
TL;DR: just because you don't like something, doesn't mean the rest of the world needs to take up your opinion. If you don't like it, turn it off and move on.

Perfect solution! If they don't purchase the device because it won't fit anywhere, it can't overheat!

PayPal is infamous for this.

Really?
satire
–noun
1. the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc.
Seems to mean exactly what I thought as that's exactly what Colbert/Stewart do...
Maybe you meant to say "it doesn't mean what I think I means" and in that case, you would probably be correct.
What's really disappointing is watching someone try to politicize a satire show on "Comedy Central".
Just curious, but what data are you basing that extremely general claim off of? Or is your post meant to troll all those who like Colbert/Stewart for whatever reason you have?
You seem to have missed the point of "Comedy Central" and satire.
