    Personaly, I want a small diesel turban engine turning a genorator to charge the batteries when needed. They may be a little noisy, but they are very efficient.

    Does that mean they will finaly ditch program manager? I realy hope there isn't any one still using programs for win 3.1 that still require that. And if so, why are they running it on XP anyway...

    Don't believe me, or just feeling nostalgic for windows 3.1, go to run, or a comand promt and execute progman.

    all you have to do is pay (gasp), download the source tarball, and then put it into the apropriate directory under portage. Gentoo even tells you what to do when you try to emerge it and you don't have the source.

    Wep does a pretty good job at being an anoyance. I figure with as little WiFi traffic as I have on my network, it would take most of a day to get enough info to crack my random key (www.random.org). I seriously doubt any one is going to devote that much time to me. And if they do, I probobly have worse problems.

    It is a difference in the way it is sold. When you buy a book, you are buying the physical book. However, when you buy software, you are mearly buying a license to use the software. Scratching the disk makes it unusable, but that doesn't matter. You did't buy the disk.

    Well, it is the control panel for my computer, so why not put it there. I do use it sometimes if I already have an explorer window open or I'm on an XP box where someone has turned it off on the start menu.

    Dynamat isn't all that effective... I tried it on one of my older computers with an ~6000 RPM 60cfm fan blowing though one of those swiftec heat sinks w/ all the little screws. It helped a bit, but not much.

    If you are wondering why the overkill heatsink and fan, it was too cool a 1.7 Ghz P4. The stock heatsink and fan were all but useless. Any way, it might have been loud, but it never got over 100 degrees.

    So, if a company were to name itself after any other number, like million, or trillian, it should find the family of the person who came up with that name for the number and compansate them? Any other word, and I might agree, but not for a number.

    Do you you realy use that first PCI slot? I haven't used it in years. ATI, nVidia or Matrox, doesn't matter. I always left the first open to help the airflow the the vidio card's heat sink.

    Not true. I can't remember what version it was, but I remember a big glibc or gcc update a couple years ago. The gentoo website linked to a script that somewone had written that took care of every thing for you. I was very impressed when it reloaded the kernal without haveing to reboot. It's been a while, so I don't remember all the details, but it is doable...

    I don't have the time nor the experiance with music to know or find independant music that I like. However, I would prefer not to give any money to the RIAA. So, if an option to exclude them did exist, I would use it.

    I find it hard to believe the "they just aren't mature enough"

    It was realy weird, when I was in high school, I could see the freshmen getting dumber and more immature each year. That's not to say my class was particularly smart, but each year the percintage of snobish preps with no common sence went up every year. I also see it around the neighbor hood. When I was young, if we saw a car comming down the street, someone would yell car, and our game of kickball or whatever would stop untill the car passed. Now, you have to all but run them over to get them to move out of the middle of the road. And I have yet to seem them get out of it entirely. So yes, they are getting less mature.
