<rant> Unless it is massively improved, as a mac user, I have zero interest in such 'innovation'. These guys need to get a reality check. They're becoming the Microsoft of the early 2000's, where each new release felt like a downgrade with a barely 'better' UI. Fix the broken pieces, before adding new ones @apple </rant>
Why are we not resisting this panopticon bullshit? Just because we can, doesn't mean we should install cameras and facial recognition everywhere there are groups of people. Why? Because basic privacy is a human right. Who wants to trade that for "security", "think of the children" or "", can do it in their own house, garage, office, business, toilet and bedroom, on their own dime. Don't force this shit on everyone, including children, because you chose to live in fear of some bogeyman that's coming to get you. As a taxpayer, I do not fucking consent to blowing my tax money on this shit. Fix the eduction system, road, bridges and other infrastructure first, then we can talk about your spying toys. Also, watch less TV and get out every once in a while. Get a passport and leave the country when you can. The world is not as scary as the talking heads are telling you it is. Their interest is in having you glued to the screen, so the less you step outside, the happier and wealthier they are.
Feel free to mod this down - I've got karma to burn.
Have a similar problem/question. Need Ryzen support for a Dell Insipron 1700. Just spent a weekend trying to get it to work, ending up frustrated/disappointed.
Can anyone shed some light on the Ryzen support?
My thoughts exactly.
They figured out a clever way to make all of these devices and their owners work for them, feed even more data into their ML.
Seems like people will still gladly trade more of their privacy and glimpses into life for novelty, "features" and convenience.
FTW
I've been to the south border of Mexico a few times. I haven't seen any walls, unless they put them up in the last few months. There's 7" or so fence in places you can see from the car when getting out of / returning to Mexico. Is that the "wall" you had in mind?
As someone who somewhat frequently crosses the border with Mexico by car in SoCal... You almost never need passport to drive to Mexico, you need it when/if you want to come back to the US.
When you drive south, there is no US checkpoint of any kind, just some cameras and devices. One of these definitely is a plate reader, the rest I do not know. Once you are past that, you drive through the Mexican checkpoint, which picks cars at random for inspection. Green light - you keep going, red - you pull over and Mexican border agent comes over for a quick chat.
Speaking of robocalls... This shit is getting out of hand.
I am and have been for a long time on the do-not-call list, yet I am getting several robocalls a day. Every day.
Today I picked one up and while I was in the first second of that call, another one came in on call waiting.
Anyone know how to stop these, short of only picking up calls from my existing contacts (I run a business, so I do get legit calls from unknown numbers)?
The recent articles and corresponding actions of the big internet companies seem to push against basic redirect services. I am having a hard time understanding why. Makes me uncomfortable, but I can't explain why.
Please enlighten me?
The current maid tech is substandard in my experience. They can only operate a handful of devices, one at a time. Max two, when one is a cell phone.
I want to be able to write code by dictating it, in several languages. I'm tired of the keyboard.
Bullshit. This is /. - we don't RTFA.
Let machines play machines, while we watch. Make that a sport.

it's a drop in the ocean, given the spending of those who are pushing on the other side. :(

Next they'll be sniffing out unprotected WiFi base stations.

Why is this downvoted? It's a coherent and valid point, quite far from any kind of fringe.
Nice UI, stable, easy to install. Consider launching in VM, so you can easily snapshot/restore or even clone the whole environment.

I was hoping AI is revolting against paywalls. That could be fun to watch/read about.
How about that Faraday's Cage tho? :)
I wrote my first lines of code on a ZX Spectrum, as a teenager. I still remember the rubber keyboard keys. This made me feel old.
Is that why the cop says: "I suspect preliminarily it appears that..." ?
This is why donating to organizations like EFF and EPIC is important.

Not long. One more time - this is not AI, it's machine learning (ML) at its infancy.
Top software developers make probably 4 times what the 'average' ones make. Apples and oranges, msmash, apples and oranges.
