i just scored an old laptop for free *score*. it's a 1.06ghz with 256 meg of ram.
I installed XP expecting it run like a dog, but i didn't have another option at the time. You know what though? it runs suprisingly well! granted i haven't got much installed on it (anti virus, mozila, Reason 3.0) but it runs much much better than i thought it would.
As long as i don't flood it with windows live crap (eg, messenger etc..) i'm sure it'l continue to run fine.
Is it just me.. or would the same thing work if the IR sensor above/below the TV ala normal?
That way 2 players could have split screen action as the IR signals/readings would still work... (well, not use the Wiimotes, but another form of sensor such as glasses ?)
wowser.
At first i thought this was a bleh. idea. But so far i've listened to a lotta music i've been intending to for ages just sitting here at work. legally for a change too.
Internet radio is ok. but after 3 songs i generally through my headphones down in anger as they put something crap on:(
The library so far is impressive (IMO)
Personally i'd rather qantas lower their prices instead of ricing up their already over expensive flights.
I mean now that tiger airways is doing cheap domestic flights as well (or they're about to, i forget) surely qantis would be looking at a competitive alternative for the consumer?
or am i being a jew again? heh
comparing it to DS cartridges is a bit odd for gaming too...
you can't write to a UMD can you? (i don't own a psp so i don't know, i just thought it was the case)
The ARG that was run for NIN's Year Zero worked really really well, nearly every interview for the album had a good chunk dedicated to asking Trent Reznor why he did it etc...
It also caused less people to pirate it (from what i can tell) as the CD it self had clues in it and was like picking up a piece of a puzzle.
I'm assuming this may be the case for the Halo 3 ARG?
(lil' note: the company that did i love bee's did a bunch of other ARG's, including the Year Zero one)
But the short answer? : Yes. It works, albiet for more hardcore fans as appose to the general public.
i had a few interviews fresh out of uni. One place gave the final 3 applicants a puzzle to take home and solve based on a real-world situation, though no "code" was involved, we were asked to provide simple pseudo-code.
I thought that was odd as we could all go to external sources or each other.
The next place asked me in the interview "What can you tell me about this code? Problems, inefficiencies.. anything?". I thought that was a much better idea. Plus who wants to write code up on a white board when all nervous in an interview anyway right?
I live in Australia, and well this is the first I've heard about it... kind of creepy in a way.
Maybe I'll change my birthday song to "happy give me presents day".
Although i don't know if this relates to another story this week (local-ish news). Apparently at concerts and events
people -could0 get fined for record videos of bands on there mobile phones, strange that no-one mentioned actual digital
camera's though.
The Wii is designed to put people 'in' the game.
The ps3 is designed to make the 'in the game' look better.
Am i the only person that thinks if these 2 consoles were somehow merged together it'd kick arse?
I hear that!
Except in australia for me.
I'm hoping they'l have a ps3 demo here in aus soon, not that i'd buy one, but i'd like to check it out to see if it justifies the price.

Here in australia (omg there's ppl outside the US?) i can only think of one person who went out and bought a HDTV LCD beast.
Granted its good (was awesome for the world cup) but frankly is certainly not worth the money, i know a few ppl who bought the 360 and they wouldn't even consider a HDTV in the next few years.
In terms of games we play the good ol' xbox on the afore mentioned HDTV LCD beast, to be honest i don't really think its worth the hassle when you sit a few meters from the screen anyway, granted you can tell it's not as sharp, but it's in no way ugly. I guess it comes down to benefit vs cost.
Personally i see little benefit in spending an extra 1k/2k on a decent sized HDTV just for sharper graphics when we'd then need to get digital tv AND a HD console to get any use out of it.
I guess it's each to there own, i think Nintendo are smart in the fact they can sell this awesome console (note: awesome due to games+motion controllers) and charge so much less than microsoft and sony (especially sony!) for it, mostly due to this fact.
I've never been favourable to any of those company's, even if i wanted to get a 360/ps3 i still wouldn't buy a HDTV, I'd rather still have my weekends out for the next 3 or 4 months:)

my 2 cents:)

All though it is awesome that a big name guitar manufacturer is push them now:)
Quick, someone add the tag "N2 Mine"!

I love irony. Either way. I'd still opt for a much cheaper 5 hour flight as appose to a stupid price for internet use during a trip.

Yep, it was released in australia, albeit very limitedly. i recall a telstra online pack or something of some description stickered on the box?

How does it compare compared to the 360 and/or Wii? (outa curiousity)
