    "Insightful" - in the US? My $30/month mobile broadband is 7.2/1.4Mbit.

    I'd say that pretty much fits in with what was said. Of course quantum is good for quantum, and the RNG was a bit interesting - but the only other practical application (so far) is factorization.

    You might want to realise that the US is a bit behind, but the trend is clear.

    with the exception of phones and other "toy" devices ... that by far outnumber keyboard-mouse-and-monitor computers, and for large parts of the world will be the only "computers" they'll ever use. Besides gaming most tasks done on desktop computers could (and will) easily be done (albeit with better user interfaces - which is what the article discusses) on what is known as "Mobile Internet Devices" (webpads, mobiles, ... ).

    The desktop computer as a separate box is a dead end, and the reason you're seeing many companies moving into "mobile" is because they know this.

    While not currently related, this should be one more reason for young well-educated Danes to come over and live in Malmö/Sweden - just across the bridge from Copenhagen/Denmark. We're already building what's basically danish neighbourhoods here!

    PS: And I might even sell you my apartment. It's pretty close to the subway station opening up in 2011 - for even faster travelling to Cph ;)

    Other devices are banned as well (including those with no RF transmitters whatsoever) since the distinction would be to confusing to explain. Please think about it for a minute.

    You're correct that there are other far worse sources of radiation at 30000 feet besides cellphones though.

    While already moderated funny, I'll just clarify that this is a myth. A more likely explanation for the cellphone ban on planes is due to the networks not being able to handle several hundred clients moving at 800km/h in view of tenths maybe hundreds of base stations.
