I don't know how old you are or what games you grew up on, but you should check out some of the older text-based games....Zork, Avon, Fyleet, etc. Also, you should check out MUDs...there are TONS of good MUDs out there, some of the once released in more recent years can be quite advanced and complicated (for a text-based game, of course)

You also would probably like the Harvest Moon series...also, if you get into the mod-community additions for it, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 can suck up HUNDREDS of hours of your time.

No, what I'm saying is that Cho was motivated to the point where he was GOING to do this, one way or another. IN THIS INSTANCE, I would rather him have legally aquired two semi-automatic pistols rather than ILLEGALLY aquired two fully automatic assault rifles/SMGs/whatever.

Then again, for all we know he might have gone in there swinging hunting knives. Then again, for all we know he might have gone in there swinging blades he pulled off paper cutters. Then again, for all we know he might have gone in there with olive forks stabbing people's eyes out.

All we know is what happend. Yes, mental history background checks should have been made...but in all honesty, whether it was with a pistol or a potato gun, Cho was going to do this.

What I do think is a very real and disturbing issue is that they decided to carry out their anger with automatic weapons
    Agreed

and how easily they could obtain them.
Cho had obtained all of his weapons legally...IIRC he had nothing but pistols (correct me if I'm wrong).

Frankly, I'm GLAD that he obtained the weapons legally. Now bear with me here, I know this is a hard thing to swallow, but still...look at it this way. Say he had gone to that gun store and they refused to sell him anything...that would have driven him to the streets to buy his weapons, and I assure you he would have walked into those rooms packing more than a few pistols...

I'm not saying what he did was right. I'm not saying that he should have been sold guns. What I AM saying is that this was GOING to happen. NOTHING short of locking him up would have prevented this. If he were going to go on a rampage, I would much rather it be with semi-automatic pistols than fully automatic assault rifles.

There was one thing and one thing only that caused this horrible event to occur...Cho was a crazy fuck. There is no reason to dip into his past, no need to point the finger at anyone...it was no one's fault. The ONLY thing that could have been done to prevent this is if he were under lock and key in an institution. Short of that, this was going to happen. Why? Because he was a crazy fuck. In the words of Chris Rock, "Whatever happend to crazy? What, people can't just be crazy no more?"

Look. This is past. Cho is dead, the unfortunate people who were in the right place at the wrong time are dead, let their families and friends mourn in peace.

I know it's on the 360 and not the Wii, but I point you in the direction of Viva Pinata...Every adult that I know that has played it (including a few "go-hard" fellas with a very "fuck you" mentality) have loved it (For reference, I'm 23, however most of my friends are in the 28-40 age bracket) It's a very deep and engrossing game that takes some real planning and skill to excel at.

Just because it's so cute it hurts shouldn't stop you from playing it...it was easily up there in the top 5 games of the year.

you might find shooter hybrids enjoyable...something like the Metroid Prime series (more emphasis on discovery and exploration than shooting) or even something like Oblivion (which, while there is a lot of fighting involved in it, still has a lot of non-combat elements to it as well)

If you want a REAL challange, you can play through Postal 2 without killing a single person...towards the later stages it becomes ALMOST impossible to do...it is possible to beat the game having killed not a single person (i.e. the game is only as violent as you make it to be)

Out of curiosity, what is your favourite genre?

I'm sorry, I just get really frustrated when people do things like that...if you know it's a third person shooter, then it's obviously not a first person shooter. Just because it involves "shooting" doesn't automatically make it an FPS...Hell, Missle Command had shooting in it. /rant

You seem to think people can't be loyal to a company that provided them with great games and consoles
