I love BS statistics! 90% of all statistics are 45% made up and 31% scare mongering. Also, statistics statistics 43% statistics 12% statistics Fox News statistics statistics.
But I can't really blame them, I mean, you read my non-sense too, statistics...;P
Vista Ultimate (out of the box) is going to use a lot of memory. 4gb might not be enough here after a couple updates. Anyway, I run Ubuntu Hardy on AMD64 3300XP+ with 1gb of RAM and 5gb swap and I rarely notice any slowdown at all. The bottom line is that swap is NOT bad, if you have the disk space for swap then use it.
Having never played Counterstrike I cannot argue for in-game ads. I agree that The Temple is a poor location choice for an Intel, or any other, ad.
I also agree that once a game has been purchased, ad-injection is ethically sketchy. However, do you not watch Van Wilder on Comedy Central because of commercials? No, you watch it and enjoy it enough to justify not renting the DVD. I'm just saying that I am personally surprised that games have been largely ad-free for as long as they have been.
Now I know that the obvious difference here is that Comedy Central uses ads to circumvent charging the viewer, so perhaps that is the compromise; free games have ads, purchased games do not.
I really cannot wrap my head around the concept that someone would stop playing a game that they purchased, and enjoyed, just because of in-game ads.
Ok, I'll admit that ads in Mario or Megaman would be, well, out of place. However a game like Counterstrike where realism is sort of the point, ads can be placed in a realistic fashion, only adding to the realism.
If you have the money to pay extra for such a trivial preference, you really don't need to be complaining.
I don't know, I personally would rather see an ad or two than pay more for something, but that's just me.
If a game was released for $20 with ads or say $40 without ads, which would you buy? And don't be stubborn just to prove your point, I will know if you are lying.:P
Agreed, the masses all too often equate a higher price with better quality, but I think that this common misconception is more prevalent in the US than in Europe. For example, European nations have been much more accepting of the open-source movement than the US.
As for support and training; Europe outsources to India the same as the US, thus if anything it is cheaper due to the exchange rate.
I agree that there is no complicated reason, but there is reason more than 'because they can'.
Example:
Italy doesn't want money leaving there economy, so they tax such imports heavily to offset the economic loss. On the other side, US software companies know the game and charge more yet because there aren't many alternatives, thus driving taxes even higher.
I am personally glad this is happening. First off, its the kind of news that is so ridiculous I can't help but become distracted from the real news, of which I am generally not a fan, and second it is just further evidence that we need so serious patent reform. Sry boot teh coma abooze. XD
I don't have a DVR so I can't skip the ads, but even if I did I wouldn't skip all the ads. Some ads are funny (Mac v. PC and alltel wizard) and some ads are actually for things I am interested in. Plus, I use the time between show segments to do other stuff like dishes or using the bathroom.
If I were you die today, then my wife(whom is my next of kin) would take on all my legal responsibilities. Therefore, as far as ethics are concerned the next of kin, or parents in this case, have the legal right to the information they are seeking. As far as contacting Google, MSN, etc... Good luck, its hard to prove something like ownership of a virtual location, plus some sites claim ownership of content hosted on their service.
Let me guess, your a Republican or an idiot, or both. If you have ANY faith in what the people at faux news say, then I do not hold your opinion with any regard, none, so stop bashing me because I hurt your feelings.
This news clip pissed me off something fierce, but I don't really think it will affect the consumers. The fox news audience consists of idiots and Republicans, both of which will find a new calling in November when the Dems take the whitehouse.
I have to say though, it really think something should be done about the fact that stupid people can say stupid things and the rest of us just have to accept it because they are how they are. When will the intellectuals rise?
My wife and I came to the compromise that I would give her a kid to raise her way if she would give me a kid to teach computers to in my way... So far, it hasn't panned out.
Yes. Yes it is. People who are considered 'thrifty' often have much more patents and are willing to put a little effort into what they want. I think that those with a thrifty mindset are the perfect people to push (or pull) Linux into the mainstream.
And instead take the lesser title of Zinc Saucee... With comes with double prize money he actually turned down the title of Iron Cook for the lesser. he being Bender.

I agree, OpenArena will meet the casual gaming requirements that you have stated.

Nowhere. Just die, or charge more.

Where would you have us put our ads? In your music?
If they get back together will he move back in to her half or will they employ duck tape? OR Another broken home for the stats.
Just like the VIPs in hollywood, the people involved in this program now have public lives.
Does anyone else think this will make car 'crashes' more common?

Good freakin' point. An ISO standard cannot implement OS specific code.

Considering the amount of science and math involved in cooking, this game has the potential to be an accurate representation of cooking.
When people say Linux doesn't have something, its because they are lying.
