The parent post was, in my opinion, very informative. In fact, I would say that it was little else besides informative. It was definitely not interesting.
I like your post but take issue with your use of the word "experience" because we simply cannot know what cows experience. We only know that they respond to perceived danger. A cow *could* act precisely the way it does without actually "feeling" anything if its brain is too simple to "feel". In coming years, the neuro and cognitive scientists will probably be able to tell us which brain hardware facilitates conscious experience. Until they do, we can only guess. My guess is that chimps have the hardware, cows... who knows.
This isn't to say that we should treat animals poorly because they're simple, just that we should focus on more solid reasons like the economic one you mentioned, or perhaps that treating animals well fosters compassion in humans.
Pretending that wrong facts are forgivable "opinions" is a typical "Conservative" weasel trick for having it all ways, whenever it's convenient. This is certainly not limited to the right end of the spectrum. Don't forget that the Left gave us Social Constructionism.
I never realized until now that the name "Microsoft" is so very anti-sexy. That assumes, of course, that "Hugehard" is sexy. I think I got e-mail a while back saying something to that effect.
You've raised some interesting points about the concept of copyright in general, but your approach seems to me like it would destroy the commercial value of R&D. Are you really advocating the complete abolition of copyrights and patents?
The tags for this article (no, yes, maybe) are amusing, but completely unhelpful with regards to tagging. Has slashdot's potentially useful tagging system been sacrificed on the altar of smarm?
Priests have been complaining for a year Benediction (a popular healing weapon) makes them a target to enemy players. Healing gear... in PVP? Can you do that?
Honesty in your emotions. Okay, but what does that even mean? Does that mean one actually gets angry instead of just pretending to be angry? Honesty seems like a strange word to use for such behavior.
If you couldn't handle their classes, what makes you think you could overpower them mentally? You might just be setting yourself up for... whatever-the-fook-we're-talking-about.
The key feature, not mentioned on the webpage, is that these knobs go to 11.

If I had mod points, you'd get one (a good one).
Can we all agree that a better title would have been, "Can Large Corporations Reverse-Engineer Cool?"
Link? I was asking for proof before it was cool.

Until Carl Lewis gets his own pair and chases you down.

I second the notion!
(Does the look remind anyone else of Super Metroid?)

Don't all the qualms with electronic, paperless voting apply here?
In terms of Hamming distance, it's actually closer to "fear-of-flight," aka aviophobia. Think about it.

I wasn't playing grammar Nazi, I was paying homage. I guess I forgot the :)
You beat me to it.
Decent folks get attention for all kinds of things, just not their religion. It's the freaks who get attention for their religion.
